Not Great Food Options in the Hotel

The Standard has a crazy-awesome sense of humor. The little touches of whimsy and silliness throughout the hotel are just adorable and fun. Staff was phenomenal. Delightful rooftop, great food and drinks, just a lot of fun, really.

Minor things: slow Internet and not enough hooks/racks to hang towels in the bathroom. Sooo minor, compared to how much is fun and wonderful about The Standard.

The rooftop bar

Your rooms sucked. They looked cheap, you basically have two mattresses on the floor. It wasn't welcoming at all and def looked like it needed to be updated.

We liked the location.

We didn't like the minimalism of the room. We paid a lot of money and felt we received nothing in return. House cleaning did not clean our room in the two nights we stayed there. We would not recommend or stay there again.

Location is good

As soon as we arrived this hotel captured us. It's location was easy to find from the airport (though the driving on the other side of the road/car was a little taxing). The Standard sign placed upside down, the fire heated outside seating area, the colouful indoor waiting area with pool table, warm and welcoming staff with a hairdressers and shop all waiting when you enter. We were upgraded to a room with a larger bed and docking station (the bed being the biggest ive seen, let alone slept in) and wifi was offered free of charge for the entire stay. The decor was great, the rooms large enough for two, very clean and worth every penny spent for the 6ft by 3ft bath if nothing else. The staff were always friendly, very helpful with as little pretention as possible. The location was perfect to see the city, with us walking to most local places... But a car is necessary to see all that L.a has to offer. Now, the pool... The roof top pool is mesmerising, was warm enough to swim in Feb, with cool water beds and towls placed on sun loungers free of charge around the outside. The roof top bar with dance floor and dj every night seemed not only a great night out if you didn't fancy traveling far from 'home' but the venue was a regular hotspot for those staying elsewhere and locals. All in all the best hotel and best holiday I've. The breakfast was great, too

Being picky, parking was a little expensive as there are multiple parking spots competing for your business, over $30 per night was a little steep...

The ambience of the room and we liked the breakfast in the restaurant very much.

There was no obvious sign for the hotel which made it difficult to find while we were driving.

Extremely convenient to downtown. Great restaurant in the hotel as well as nearby. Rooms rates are very reasonable. Bars are well stocked and bartenders are great.

One bar with a TV would be good.

For us it was a good spot to jump on the highways since there were some stuff we had to do. Roof has a nice view and the pool is warm to swim in on a cold day. Food is good in the restaurant (and coffee). Beds are comfortable.

Did not like the run down dirty elevators, the hotel comes off as a sleazy night club during the day. The roof is closed to minors after seven pm which I didn't know and was not advised we'll. I would have picked somewhere else had I known. Furniture on the roof is uncomfortable . Careful getting in ad out of the waterbed on the roof it kinda hurts.

Uncluttered, minimalist design. Good coffee. Beer garden and pool on roof. Soaking tub. Sunny yellow breakfast restaurant. Openable room window. Irreverent sense of humor.

It was a slight bummer that room service took our drinking glasses on the first day and we had to ask the front desk several times to have new ones sent up.

everything was perfect; modern design; good location in central downtown; staff very kind and helpful; we have been upgraded in a HUGE very comfortable room; we will recommend this hotel to our friends.

only remark: fantastic choice of everything in the minibar, but NO coffee or tea maker, (very strange)

Beds are too small and too low to the ground. Could use at least one more chair for sitting if the bed is not set up for sitting, which it is not. Rooftop bar had a bad smell and we needed to leave.

Extremely helpful staff, great rooftop lounge-bar and pool. Nice view of Downtown LA. The elevators were fast and you don't have to wait a long time to catch one. The rooms are spacious and quite nice.

Slightly on the expensive side, especially the room service/mini bar - more expensive than other hotels I've stayed at. I stayed at 3 hotels during this trip, and this was the most expensive - surprisingly it was also the only one without a kitchenette or even a coffee machine, which was quite disappointing.

modern design & super comfortable bed

Love love love this young-feeling hotel. Very hip/cool design for everything and the crowd checking-in are eye candies. This hotel has two bars as far as I know and live band performances would happen on thursdays in the lower lobby with younger crowds dancing singing drinking. The mature/business people tho, would be found hanging on the rooftop sipping drinks enjoying small talks in front of the (a lil overrated) city view. Not sure which exactly do I like better but both crowds are elegant people so during my stay in the hotel we were very relaxed and able to enjoy whatever the city was giving. Hotel staffs were very helpful too, lost one of my darling belonging during their housekeeping routine but they helped to found it in the end so it's all good.

beds were to low,see through showder I had children with me, no dresser draws,and only one chair in the room.I wouldn't recommend only because it's not a children atmosphere hotel
