We were originally in room 7.12 and I was really disappointed with the view (basically looking straight at the Sanitation plant and the road with partial views of the river), so I rang reception and they were fantastic and offered for us to change rooms for the next 3 nights of our stay to 15.13 which just had the most spectacular view of the Hudson and downtown. It was the same class of room, but just 8 floors up which made all the difference. Staff service was great, they were very attentive Loved the enormous bath and while the bed was quite low to the ground, it was really comfortable. Top of the standard was incredible, we went up for drinks and I wished I had booked ahead for one of the Window tables, but we were seated at the bar and the service was incredible - a free bowl of truffles for dessert - delicious!
Surprised that the room furniture is a little dated The shower area is not well lit, so you may feel like you are showering in the dark (the black tiles don't help) We tried Le Bain, but surprisingly found it a bit seedy with quite a young party crowd
Very nice hotel, the staff were great and it was very clean. Great location with lots of trendy shops and cafe's close by. Thoroughly enjoyed my 3 night stay.
My only gripe against the hotel was that we upgraded to a superior room and were on the 17th floor, the very popular hotel bar is on the 18th floor! If I was in New York drinking then I wouldn't have cared but I wasnt and therefore I hardly slept before 2/3am due to the vibrations and noise coming from above. I think this should be pointed out at booking stage so I could have requested a room a few floors down and that you certainly shouldn't be paying an upgrade fee for it, if anything you should get a discount.
Fab view, great bar.. Although the room isn't huge it makes up for it with wall to ceiling windows and ever changing view.. Great location for restaurants, bars & clubs plus shopping.. Quick walk into Greenwich village.. Will definitely go back..
The staff in the hotel restueant and bars were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble .
The roof top bar le Bain is a fantastic bar , door policy was hard work went in 3 times but on one occasion was told it was closed to hotel guests after 6pm by the guy on the door . It was not privately booked for functions so if you stay at another hotel you have priority ?
Super friendly staff
Internet service was average.
THE MINOR GLITCHES....NO BIG DEAL
Bed. Small rooms. Very small closet.
Brilliant location, great views of city and Hudson River, very helpful and friendly staff, great food, clean rooms and modern stylish decor. Loved my stay here and would stay again. Management responded personally to my only complaint about wifi.
Wifi was slow at nights but management say it's being upgraded. My room was on 13th floor which had great views but was only a few floors down from bar and nightclub which was a little noisy on weekends. If noise is an issue just request lower floor.
The location was great. The staff were attentive and friendly. The hotel was funky and my view was spectacular. I had an incident with the faucet in my original room but that was rectified quickly and to my satisfaction.
As a guest at the hotel I felt that I should have had access to the lounge on a Friday night. The saturday night I was there the lounge was booked for a private function so that was understandable, but I don't understand why I was turned away Friday night. I had to be on the list? That was the biggest disappointment in my stay at this hotel and consequently this will be my last stay there.
Over all we had a great time at The Standard. It was our second time there and really enjoyed the service. Love the vibe, the location, our view was amazing and room very comfortable!
The pipes were really noisy, even when the toilet was flushed it resulted in a loud noise. The room rate was very high per night. How ever, while I was already checked in I was receiving notifications advertising the rate at HALF the price for the same dates!!! Very disappointing:(

The overall feel at ease and gentle approach by the whole staff...
with rare exception e.g. at the outside restaurant, as a longstay resident (for 2 weeks) you feel treated more as a tourist
Location and restaurant
The room views and layout. The food. The Location
The Le Bain club is a bit out of control.
Had to crawl over my husband to reach my part of the bed. Is this what you can offer for USD 795...?
The bars and the views from the bars is second to none
The rooms are very small
Great if you are mostly in Soho / Meatpacking great view nice gym a lot of vibe around the hotel. restaurant and terrace is always full.
Way is a bit long if you have a lot of stuff to do near central park. typical tourist sights are not too close. you have to use train. taxi takes always ages in traffic jam. not perfect if you like it quite
The view, the location cannot be beat.
HVAC control unreliable and key card trouble.
Perfect location. Many fine restaurants, friendly staff. The rooms were small but comfortable, nice and generously provided with towels. Very comfortable beds. Quick and efficient cleaning.
A disapointment: you can´t visit the roof bar after 10 pm thursdays-saturdays
Location. Happy atmosphere. Magnificent rooftop.
Room too tight. Bathtub impractical. no storage space. No suitcase space. Noisy. Too expensive for what it is.
Unable to get drink in the beautiful restaurant. Told they didn't have room, sure didn't look like it.

Free wifi is slow option, fast wifi is at premium charge... so old fashioned. Even in Africa you get fast WiFi included... So 2010....
