Rude staff. Description of location is misleading. Actually in the tenderloin and not nob hill. Tenderloin is much rougher.
Beautiful apartment. Very open and spacious. Nice wood floors.
I got one thing to say about the staff: CRYSTAL MY GIIIRL! She is the nicest most accomodating and polite person i have ever encountered in a hotel. Listened and helped with every need we had making us feel most welcome. About the room: I just loved the whole apart suite, it had everything we needed and more, so much storage, tv, dvd, ipod docking stations, an incredibly large and awesome bed, full equiped kitchen, everything super clean and a bathroom with a lot of shampoos, dryer, robes, just perfect. Ill never forget the little secluded backyard that we had our morning coffee (coplimentary) and tea at. A little oasis!
The murphy bed was hard. The desk in the closet was a bit unusual.
The block the hotel is located on has several options for dining and food shopping at low cost. The full kitchen is a great resource that I did not take advantage of.
well...where can i start...i usually dont write reviews but this one actually needs a bad one. i booked in booking the hotel a couple of weeks before arriving. 2 adults and a child with less than a year, in requests i also put a crib. we arrived, the guy in the front desk barely told us hi, and there was no crib despite noticing we were 3 ...so no keys to the storage so..no crib! we offered ud a upgrade but we told him our concern was that our kid couldnt sleep alone in a bed...we was 11 months. so we saw our room it was filled with baby hazards and so i asked to see the upgraded and then he starts telling me its only..if he can give us that room, only for 1 night...with this atitude like we were trying to take advantage...we did see the other room and decided ours was more easily adapted but what can i tell you...we slept me and the baby in the bed, surronded by sofa and the extra small bed where my husband sleepy so our son wouldnt fall...so actually we didmt sleep at all....besides he gave us the room next to the garbage storage so...with an empty hotel that wasnt great either. also he told us to park in a parking that seemed runed by the mafia, and was actually 2 times more than another one nearby...so please chek out the info you give your customers. the 2 girls that were in the front desk during the day were actually great. the area of the hotel is actually very depressive, full of drug addicts wandering the streets ....not recommended
during the day the staff was great, the hotel is kind of vintage like, well thought.
Not really much! I'd be happy to stay here again.
Awesome full kitchen to accommodate food sensitivities. Close to trader joes. When the bath faucet didn't work they let me take a bath In an empty room.
The Steinhart breathe a classical atmosphere. Rooms are comfy and pleasant. Location is nice - great breakfast cafe just opposite the street (as a plus, you can still receive the hotel wifi here!). Front desk was friendly. My studio was clean and light. Will stay here again!
a bit noisy from street level but otherwise well worth it
Great value for money beautiful building huge full room kitchen living room and great bed an excellent choice for anyone staying in sf
The staff was not well trained although reasonably helpful
The building The location The roominess
Please "upgrade" your staff. They're not overly friendly or forthcoming. Train them in customer service. The lift needs to be upgraded too - it's difficult navigating on your own with lots of luggage. Lastly, this is an old building with lots of charm - but also noise. The neighbours upstairs could be clearly heard walking about, talking etc...
The location is perfect; 10min walk from Union Sq. The 1bedroom appt is enormous and easily sleeps 4. There's even a walk in closet!
The room was rundown Stains on the rug. Every piece of furniture was nicked/chipped. Not very clean. Expected much more based on the photos.
Great location. Big room. Could make breakfast in the kitchenette. Staff very helpful.
Kitchen was sparsley equipped. Had to get pots, pans, etc from front desk. Lobby lounge was dark and unused in appearance. No atmosphere. Had to ask that propane on patio garden be refilled. Planned on grilling Xmas dinner there. No gas arrived in time to use. Also lots of unsavory street noise, homeless out at night. Gathering lounge off lobby was dark, drab and uninviting.
Lg for studio. Seemed more like a two bedroom with separate room for kitchen, office and living. Lots of light. Big windows. LOVED the Murphy bed. Very charming. Bus stop nearby. Coffee shops a few steps away. More charm, ie old SF but not too upscale. Probably wouldn't appeal to guests with contemporary tastes. I loved it and felt safe. I would stay here again. Also, there are some full time residents here which gave the elevator ( a great old ornate brass cage ) a friendlier atmosphere.
Always crowded with people in the lobby where the bar is. No complimentary bottled water or jug for that little cup of tea/coffee. No free local calls. Should be more providing for the price they charge.
Perfect Location. Room very comfortable, clean but tiny. Beautiful classic decor.
parking issues, and the hotel was a little run down.
location and some very helpful staff
lack of kitchen utensils and supplies shower temperature (variable) lighting (limited)
mattress ease of entry / exit feel of home spaciousness convenient location (although up a steep hill)
the location is slightly far from places like Union Sq and Moscone Center, and it can be a pricy hotel if you don't catch a good deal.
I loved the historic charm of this hotel, and the staff were very friendly. The studio I rented was great, cozy and comfortable despite the Murphy bed. The elevator was 100 yrs old (a metal cage) but was faster than the modern ones in the sterile new big hotels. And the wifi worked!
Bigkitchen and fold down bed. its character. spacious room.
None of the pictures are true, all fake. Hotel is not even close to what the adverstise describe. 0 out of 5. Scam Scam Scam.
Friendly staff, nice suite of rooms
No bellman. Once a week housekeeping -- should be twice a week.
The male front desk man was always grumpy; and the entire staff was not that knowledgable.
Strange smell in the room. Only once a week house keeping. Introduced like a hotel but actually it's a apartment Roon interior was not new as website photo. Price is high for a apartment
Old fasioned elevator and loby Cafe nearby
It would have been nice if there was a really great restaurant very close.
Staff was responsive and friendly. There was a little snack shop across the street that was fun for breakfast.
Great value for such a large apartment. If we had only known how big the kitchen was we could have had friends over for dinner. Great value in a lovely heritage building.
Staff were very nice. Location was central to the many things to see in San Francisco. Our apartment was great. Very clean, lots of old world charm. Would definitely stay again.
I would like fresh towels supplied more often. We stayed for 6 nights and whilst I understand the apartment is serviced weekly it would have been nice to receive clean towels at least once during our stay.
The apartment was nice and spacious, allowing the three of us to be able to spread out and not trip over our luggage.
