Close to union square
Good location, staff was friendly and helpful.
Having a kitchen on our city vacation made a huge difference - we felt much more at home in SF being able to whip up breakfast in the morning, or cook dinner and crash after a long day. Location is great - Union Square and Nob Hill are right in your backyard, and if you're an ambitious walker, all of the city's must-do sites and neighborhoods are within a (usually pleasant) 30-45 minute stroll. The building is attractive and generally well-maintained. Spacious rooms - even the deluxe studio. Loved having free access to the fitness center at the nearby Hotel Diva.
One hiccup with the staff: we had been informed a few weeks ahead of our stay that the Steinhart was air conditioned, but arrived to find out this was not the case. We were instead provided with portable fans upon request, which were much appreciated. Many thanks to the staff for being friendly and eager to help upon our arrival, but we wish we'd had better information over the phone about this important detail.
Location close to Union Square. Apartments of another era. Staff helpful.
Some appliances and furnishings a bit tired.
Classic Style Roomy Apartment Quiet Environment
Excellent kitchen facility for a family travelers
Beautiful building and good localization. Near union square and market street. Internet works very well.
A little bit far from pier 39, not a big deal dough. Over all was a good option.
The arquitecture and the style. The spacious rooms, and the kitchen.
The bathroom needs some Renovations.
The hotel is in a very nice old building. The location was perfect for us - just a few blocks away from Union Square and in close proximity to almost everything one could need when staying at a self-catering hotel. Our apartment was quite spacious and had all expected facilities.
The public parking near the hotel was rather expensive - $29/night, but that is not unusual in SF. The apartment was only cleaned once, on the last day of our stay (5 days). The furniture and the floors were somewhat dusty.
The building, the room, the tranquility, loved it.It was a beautiful victorian apartment, well appointed and very centrally located.
The washroom had no hooks for towels
the apartment, cleanliness
far from downtown, no breakfast, taxes are not included in the price
I love the style and the comfort.
The unavailability of parking. It was a nightmare.
Can't wait to return.
We liked the old, charming style. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
No second TV in the bedroom.
I must commend Nicole from front desk who was exemplary in her customer service and willingness to help. The apartment is ideally located - within walking distance to tourist attractions and/or on the public transport routes. The staff were always on hand and instantly addressed our requests (for a blender, pugs, etc), friendly and helpful.
The apartment could be slightly cleaner (behind the TV, window sills, etc).
Wonderful experience! Spacious room, comfortable beds(even the murphy) and plenty of windows for a fresh evening breeze! Would stay again for sure!
Restroom had several issues. Master room had no t,v. In six days housekeeping came once. Ran out of supplies. Hotel felt very old and photos on Internet were misleading.
A lovely Vintage Apartment ; Very spacious and comfortable. Location was excellent, we were able to walk everywhere. Local shopping very convenient.
The staff was outstanding: helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The full kitchen was adequately stocked. The location was great: right on a bus line, near Whole Foods and Trader Joe's and even better, within easy walking distance of a cable car line. We would absolutely stay here again.
The staff support and proximity to downtown. Is easy to get public transport
My room was next to the street and was noisy all night from street activity. Also the bed is quite noisy and not very comfortable, this may be only in my room as I don't know of the others.
The decor was tastefully high-end monochrome. The apartment was spacious with a good size entry lobby, cavernous cupboards and the high cielings just made the place feel like a movie set from The Maltese Falcon. Of course Dashiel Hammet's gumshoe, Sam Spade resided in such a place on Sutter and Hyde. I think this was it. Caged elevator in the lobby! I will wear brogues, a grey flannel suit and a fedora next time.
Dogs welcome. Who knows where they sleep.
Great location, very nice and big room!
Our day started easily with our regular breakfast in our kitchen. Wi-fi was strong and fast. Large closets and hanging rack, hall table and Murphy bed let us enjoy a living room. Lots of power outlets.
I wish I had two soup spoons and two teaspoons.
The Steinhart was a wonderful place to stay for our week in San Francisco. The apartment was spacious, clean and quiet, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The staff were always friendly and helpful and the location was fantastic. It's not your standard cookie-cutter hotel but it is a beautiful place to stay.
The wi-fi was a little patchy and the parking is definitely not that convenient, but that's to be expected in San Francisco!
