Historical building. Cute, cozy.
The bed was hard as a rock!
The location, overpriced, bed was very uncomfortable. Couldn't find any employee to check in, had to call the front desk phone as I stood there waiting.
History behind renovations inside building. All done in very good taste and to the period it belonged to. Bar was ok. Restaurant was excellent.Don't be put off by the exterior.
Neighbourhood a little run down.
Love this place, so nice and quaint and you can't beat the location; can walk to anywhere downtown.
On arrival we were welcomed by an amazing lady who made us feel so special. Bed was amazing. location was perfect.
Every other staff member was below average with their customer service. They were not welcoming or friendly. They didn't give us their time. They sat and read their book or when we entered the room or dinning room they did not acknowledge us at all.
No tv. In room. Door did not close unless the lock was on (door frame was warped). Bed was hard and uncomfortable. This place should not even be on your list of hotels! We have enjoyed stays in your recommended hotels in the past but this was deplorable!
The staff, including the overnight person, were very friendlyand accomodating. Very cute bar and fireplace area that is condusive to getting together with friends for a drink. Really is a little gem.
The facilitiy was a little dated, but what the heck, it is in the historical district. The only real complaint is that i went to use an exit and fuiond an open closet area with no door with paint and wash buckets just sitting in the open. Just a litle tacky, especially since the price the room for the night wasn't cheap.
Location, old world charm were very nice but this hotel could do much, much better to modernise without ruining the charming building. Also, more pleasant staff would not go amiss.
Whole building seemed bit tatty, poorly decorated and untidy. Heating in room on third floor was horrible, hot air fan with no thermostat so fan on all night long or freezing cold. No coffee or tea in room. No drawers for clothing. No security box for valuables, and no instructions about facilities in hotel. First room offered for 5 day stay at the back of the hotel was terrible, window over the constant noise of the kitchen ventilating system. They moved us but desk attendant was never pleasant. Restaurant food for party of 12 should have been much better, tough uncutable steak is undesirable. Also served French fries to people in the bar while we were waiting to go into the elegant dining room, they could do much better by crossing their t's and dotting their i's.
Dinner was superb!!! Bed very comfortable Bathroom immaculate
Had to unplug the radio from behind the bed to plug in CPAP Continental breakfast was abysmal. Lift smelled Difficult to get luggage up the stairs into the building
An absolutely extraordinary, incomparable experience. All staff (desk, waitress, housekeeping) were engaging and very helpful. The entire meal was superior in every way. My lady loved the location, the historic preservation of the inn, the wall photographs of local history and people. We were a short walk to State Street and toured the Proctor theatre, finding a vibrant cultural and historical vibe about town we did not otherwise know. We will be back, in a heartbeat.
The drain in our bathroom sink worked slowly, but that's all I have. It was a wonderful, wonderful stay.
This historic building is almost 200 years old and is very well kept. We stayed in the "older" section, Rm. 20, which offered a KS bed and shower. Billiards room offered three pool tables. Lovely walk through historic neighbourhood.
Poor view from room, no fridge, room was double booked by accident and another customer entered our room! Management comped us a bottle of wine (at MY suggestion!).
Excellent hotel, great location.
The Tara Kitchen restaurant. Police presence. Historical district.
Sketchy people near bus stop.
Lovely helpful staff. Comfortable and reasonably priced. Not that far from Saratoga Springs (about 20-25 minutes)
Pillows too hard
Attractive rooms in an 18th century renovated men's club--high ceilings, wood paneling, attractive bar; windows that open in room; lots of interesting architectural details, friendly service, quiet, very reasonably priced room, attractive part of old Schenectady, much more attractive than reputation has it.
Would have preferred a bedside table/lamp on both sides of bed.
Historic location, atmospheric decor
Surrounding areas outside of Stockade district
Good location to theater... Good overall Vibe...
