Ideal location Lovely food -very high quality Room at front - had great view of Empire State building ,as does roof top bar Nice concierge
Great location. Upgraded to larger room for $15- well worth it!
Bathroom could use more counter space.
Loved the bed. Super soft. Roof top bar was fun.
Elevator too slow. Restaurant staff unattentive.
We recently visited The Strand Hotel in New York to get engaged in the City! The hotel staff were absolutely incredible, especially the guys on Front Desk who produced 2 glasses of Champagne for us and upgraded us to a gorgeous room over looking The Empire State Building. The rooftop bar is really cool and funky with fab views of the Empire State!
Nothing - we loved everything about the hotel but the staff really make the difference:)
Location. Bed. Quiteness.
Wifi poor. Shower not easy to regulate hot and cold water
Amazing view of the ESB from the roof top bar and the room!
Location and the view from roof top bar
Great staff - welcoming and very accommodating. The room didn't have a small refrigerator - something my wife needed for some meds - when asked about where to store them, they immediately brought a small refrigerator to the room. I
Air conditioner cycling was a bit noisy (affecting sleep). As a couple, we wish there was more than one comfortable chair (maybe a small sofa would be better), not that you stay in your room so much in New York City. I found the breakfast menu very limited (2 eggs and bacon/sausage - NOT on the menu), and not very well executed on some items (toughest pancakes I ever ate, had to send the overcooked (and then microwaved again) bacon back to the kitchen. To be fair, they were gracious about it and brought back a better
Location Breakfast Bed
We had an incredible experience and the Strand, we stayed for five days and they were very nice with us. We wanted to change our room and they made it very easy for us and were very helpful. We enjoyed the views of the room, the rooftop bar is a MUST go. The location is perfect and the rooms are soundproofed, the beds are very comfortable and everything is clean. We will definitely come back, it is a perfect location.
Rooms are small, but it is something very normal in NYC.
All of it!!!
Very friendly and helpful personnel in all circumstance. Rooms very well serviced and clean. Really pleasant stay
Wonderful staff. Location. View of Empire State Building. Roof Lounge.
Slow elevator response. Can hear plumbing of other rooms. Noisy air conditioning. Creaky bed.
Location is great. The hotel is cozy and people working there is very kind. It has a roof with a great view to the Empire State. Regular rooms are not to large but as other hotels in NY.
Into the shower it was not easy to regulate cold and hot water. Although they have an electronic system to set privacy, maids may come to the room unexpectedly. We did not have a coffee maker in the room
Good location for getting to uptown and downtown attractions. Staff very helpful and friendly.
The unexpected noise at 7.15am on the Monday morning from demolition crew working next to hotel.!!! ( Though on the other days it was O.K.)
The location, the view from our room looking out at the Empire State Building, the convenience to everywhere in New York, comfortable, clean and accommodating staff.
Good price and convenient location, though the street is a bit run down. Not unsafe, but it's not what you would call scenic by any stretch of the imagination.
Only 2 elevators, one of which was frequently broken. Even when they were both working, there were long waits.
Great location. Very nice and friendly staff.
Elevator a little slow. One closed for maintenance. But we were kept informed by the the hotel how long the work would take.
Staff, Location, Ambience
Noise from the street which included garbage trucks in the middle of the night. Widows did not seem to be insulated for noise reduction.
Ticks all the boxes but a bit pricey.
Small room, but it's NY.
Very friendly and helpful staff; had an executive room which is spacious with good bathroom and excellent shower; beds were good and room was quiet; great location between ESB and Rockefeller; did not choose hotel breakfast; had a perfect stay; would come again (!);
expensive like most hotels in NY; bar on top not as amazing as expected, only view out of the windows;
The rooms could be bigger
Situated just off 5th Avenue, this hotel was very conveniently situated for visiting all the attractions especially the Empire State Building. The view from the roof top bar was amazing.
Breakfast service was very slow when the restaurant was busy.
Location is very good. Subway stations close by. The rooftop bar is amazing. The staff was nice but Specially Whitley the Concierge made our days with her smile and friendliness. This hotel should be proud of her.
Wifi was poor in our room nr. 1708.
