Situated just off 5th Avenue, this hotel was very conveniently situated for visiting all the attractions especially the Empire State Building. The view from the roof top bar was amazing.
Breakfast service was very slow when the restaurant was busy.
Top of the Strand- awesome view, great DJ at night, good drinks and apps!
I thought the location was spot on. It is right in the centre of New York. I was attending a concert in Madison Square Garden and it is less than a 10 minute walk. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome.
Great location an really enjoyed the rooftop bar wih views of the Empire State Building. Very helpful concierge.
Not much really !
The staff - always friendly & helpful. The rooms are well equipped, and very clean. The hotel is in walking distance of many attractions and 2 blocks away from a subway station with multiple subway lines. The view from the rooftop bar is stunning - and the cocktails are good too! The concierge is helpful - and honest and will make any arrangements you need, or just give you advice.
The only possible criticism I could have of this hotel is that there is no spa. But if you need spa facilities, the hotel staff will make arrangements for you.
I would like to mention before starting the review that I have long experience staying in hotels as during my job in last 20 years I travel a lot. My wife and I stayed 6 nights at that hotel. We had great unforgatable experience starting at our very early arrival (8 PM) from night flight. We received the room right on arrival for our request. After 1 night we were mooved to our request to higher floor. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The atmosphere at the hotel is warm and young embience. All staff members are very welcoming and helpfull, I would like to thank especially to: Front desk staff - John, Peter, Oeteka Bell men - Willy, Carlos, Luca, Dre, Greg Concierge - Rubin, Whitley And to everyone else I didn't mentioned. You were all great!! You can feel the positive atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Every request we had was answered on spot. Always the answer was positive! The Bistro is nice and special decorated and the roof top bar has young embeince, great view and enjoyable. Many local people are coming to this place which can explain everything, as Manhattan people picking their hangout places carefully. We have no doubts that our next stay in N.Y.C. will be at the Strand. To the hotel managers: we could feel the high level of service and family warmth and welcome you expecting your warkers to give to all clients. I think that each and each client of your hotel feel as V.I.P. client. You can be proude of each and each member of your staff Well done!!!
The staff would go out of their way to help you, we had cabs and cars ordered for us, our suitcases weighed before we left (good job too as one was too heavy!!!). Nothing was too much trouble. They were always polite and some even remembered your name. The location is fab two blocks from Empire State Building and three from Macy's. The rooftop bar has a fantastic view. The rooms were really comfortable and cleaned every day even had the bed turned down at night!! I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family if they are travelling to New York.
My only small thing is that you sometimes waited quite a while to get in a lift.
Nice staff and clean rooms:))
we did not like the airconditon, it was to noisie:(
Great location, clean and friendly staff. We had a group of 10 that were all family 6-50years, booked 4 rooms. loved our day here
Wifi wasn't good
room with good space and nice view over the empire state building. we had to check in late in the night and it was no problem
Extra tax that had to be paid
Great location but the prices once all the taxes got added on worked out to be a lot more than what was originally quoted through Booking.com.
Terrace Bistro was great. Location. Near by Empire and Broadway musicals. Clean bathrooms.
No room service at 6 am. Wifi did not work as well as it could have.
I had a large room that was very pleasant. The roof bar is nice.
The bathroom is on the small side and the closet is small.
Location Helpfulness of staff
Not having a Fridge in the room Very noisy air conditioning
Peter - great service.
Location is perfect and central The Roof top bar does have the best view in town. The ambience and personality is young, open and very friendly. 5 minute quick walk to TimeSquare 3 minute cab ride to Central Park Rooms are modern, beds are very comfortable. Good Gym with very modern equipment too. I would stay there again....
Hard to find something that could be better to be honest... I always find it hard to pay 5$ for an orange juice at Breakfast..But that is a universal problem.... If I was to be really picky.....I could imagine the concierge having more "a day in New York Options" for their guests to pick from that suite the profiles staying at the Strand.. 1) Adventure 2) Sightseing 3) Parks.. 4) Attractions 5) Coffee shops etc... Its not always what the concierge personally likes, it should be what would this consumer prefer... Not saying they weren't helpful.....but we could have had more ideas from them.....
We were graciously upgraded to room 1202. I have never been in a city hotel room that was so quiet. I will return for that reason alone! The staff was professional and very nice. I found the Strand charming with a modern twist.
We arrived on a Saturday and were so excited to enjoy the rooftop lounge. Unfortunatley the DJ music was so loud...we couldn't even talk! Major dissapointment!!! We left and went elsewhere.
Location is excellent. Friendly staff (good service).
Prices for breakfast in restaurant was a bit high. Service OK, but often faults or misunderstandings of our orders in restaurant.
The location was perfect, the facilities are amazing (extra points for the included free Wi-Fi and the luxurious Fragonard toiletries). We had a premium room and the view of the Empire State Building from our window was fantastic. People are very nice and helpful, especially Carlos.
We asked for a coffee maker in our room but it was never delivered. I thought for this price that should be a standard in the room.
There's nothing positive i could possibly say about this hotel.
We love it, cool, chic, location, rooms a little small but nice all great!
That rooms could be bigger
Great location. Friendly staff.
Breakfast not included into the price. Same level hotel (e.g Blakely) has complimentary breakfast and a way larger bathroom. Did not feel like fair price.
