The staff was great, friendly and courteous.
There was no heat in my room. I was unable to sleep at all since the temperature in my room was 62 degrees. I didn't drink anything for fear I'd have to get up to go the bathroom and freeze even more!! I asked for extra blankets and received extra sheets. The sheets and pillows had a funky smell to them and I found a black hair (not mine) in the sheets. One of the WORST hotel stays in my life!!
Location, staff and facilities.
Perfect location if you are looking to stay in the Gold Coast. Great price, beautiful facade, beautiful lobby, high end restaurant, and very friendly staff. This hotel is smack dab in the middle of one of the chicest areas of Chicago; a great bargain for sure. Extremely comfortable beds, clean linens, and great maid service.
The walls are super thin and I could hear every door slam, every conversation in the hall, and every elevator coming and going. The elevators themselves are small and, very slow and there was usually a cue waiting for them. The front desk is in a very awkward place and it creates a bottleneck when people are checking in, or out, or the bellman has a luggage cart, or there's a dog, it there's more than three people in the vicinity. My room had quite a bit of cosmetic work that needed to be addressed, which would have made me feel like this was indeed a vintage gem of a hotel.
great location, very comfortable bed
mild mildew odor, very old building. in need of an updated HVAC and fresh paint.
Location is very good.
Hotel was not flexible at all in solving an issue with an extra night cancellation. They have not even replied to our emails.
Very poor breakfast....even weak coffee...for 10 bucks. A waste. Should have avoided. Was under impression it was free but even if free it was a waste.
The location was great. The mattress was very comfortable. Ditka's restaurant was on the main floor.
The room was very very small. The view was an alley and apartments across from the hotel.
The hotel was a in a great location for all the sights, shops and restaurants. Navy pier was close by within walking distance or you could get a bus. The hotel was good clean towels and maid service every day I would stay there again.
Location, location, location. Great breakfast to start your day
I can see that you are an older building. Updating is on going. Keep working on your goal. So was the decore perfect.....no, but I can see your undergoing a process. You get a pass.
Great hotel; great location; great value!
Rooms are clean, especially stench of sewer in night..
Great staff, clean room
Good accessibility to places of interest including shops and restaurants. Good free WiFi. Good accessibility to room for wheelchair user. Free bottles drinking water provided each day. Ceiling fan was a welcome bonus to the aircon. Room was cleaned and tidied and towels etc. replenished each day.
No facility to make a hot drink in the room. Mediocre breakfast from restaurant (Ditka's) next door (though menu meals were of a high standard). Long term black mould on grouting round bath tiles. Some tiles stood proud and had been poorly re-grouted with gaps remaining to allow the ingress of water. Shower tap was very difficult to turn on or off and water outlet was loose.
rooms need a paint job
Staff was great and it is a lovely historic hotel in a fabulous part of Chicago. We have stayed there twice now, both times for family weddings and have a sentimental attachment to the place.
The elevator is a bit slow and the hotel needs some cosmetic updates.
I was totally shocked to get a loft room. It felt like home away from home! Location is just off the Magnificent Mile and has a great vibe! Staff was so friendly and courteous. We were there to go to the American Girl store, and we were able to walk there as well as to many other sites. The staff was so sweet to my little girl asking her all kinds of questions about her trip and her doll. They had free luggage storage (that went beyond our check out time); so that we could take in a few more sights before heading back on the train! Definitely will be staying here again!
Everything was amazing. The downstairs air conditioner was a little loud, but if that is all I can find to complain about, that seems like small beans to me.
Close to the mall & restaurant
good location and easy to go by bus or train by cta many restuarant and coffy shop
no refrigerator no electronic kettle unsmooth door difficult to open and clase the door in my room
Hotel was so close to the tube station and found it so easy &cheap to use the train from the airport So nice to have the lake near by and the beach is lovely Navy pier being renovated but plenty to see / do there Loved Chicago
Location was excellent and staff was super helpful. Stored my bike without making me feel weird for wanting to bring it inside.
Paint chipping around door and on ceiling. Surface level, nice condition but when you look closer you can see some grime and age.
Awesome hotel with great staff.
The location is perfect. The room size was good and the room was cleaned everyday. Staff we're friendly and very helpful.
Super-comfy bed, large room, terrific location (felt very safe)
Decor a bit dated (although I thought the temperature gauge for the shower was pretty awesome!)
Fluffy white bed. Small upgrades. But bathro was funky and didn't have a pleasant smell. Struck me every time I walked into the hotel. Staff was pleasant and accommodating.
When I arrived there was no one to help me in with my bags. Had 3 suitcases (I was moving here) and had to struggle getting them into the curb and Into the revolving door. The bathrooms truly need updating. Funky cabinetry, old tub, strange stale odor that I could not shake. Overall I paid around a hundred a night so can't complain. 15/16th floor are supposedly the nicest, and I was on the 15th. Great location. You can walk to lots of great things.
Location excellent, rooms clean and airy, bed large, as was TV, downstairs lounge comfortable if rather dark
Only one lift (with carpet needing cleaning) means occasional waiting. Bottles of water in room, but nothing else (ie no mini-bar nor tea/coffee facilities) No instructions on how to phone from room, and when asked a member of staff at Reception gave wrong instructions Wash-basin plug (a common fault) hardly worked
