Large cockroach found and reported in bathroom. Dirty cups in room unwashed for several days also reported. Smell of dampness! Staff unhelpful couldn't care less attitude.
Shame about the lack of free wifi in the rooms - only available in the lobby.
Helpful staff, excellent location and lovely hotel made for an enjoyable break.
Beautiful classic hotel in a wonderful location. Loved our stay! Thank you
All the frying smell of the restaurant or the kitchen was in our room (floor 8). The room was old...
The tv kept cutting in and out. Told front desk after renting movie and it did the same thing. Still had to pay for rental of half watched movie
The soap in the bathroom
The Hotel. I have always wanted to stay here, and it was a 50th Birthday blow out. It was worth it, it was all i expected it to be.
The friendly staff, beautiful decor and comfortable rooms
Have to pay for WiFi, which I didn't bother with as was ridiculously priced.
Location, location, location!Old
The fact that we paid a lot of money and did not have wifi in our room. The room side tables were quite dusty, the towel rack, main lamp in the room needed to be fixed. The general maintenance needs to be looked at. the TV channels should be a better selection as it is an international hotel. Tea and coffee making facilities should be in the room like every other internationa and luxury hotel.
having to pay for wi-fi away from the communal areas
beds were incredibly comfy, communal parts very impressive
Poor choice of drink and food options which were exceptionally expensive
History of hotel and room cleaning service was good
Staff always right there to see to your every need. Room was very clean and beds were extremely comfortable. Great location.
We encountered several issues: We booked a room for 3 to discover this room has one double bed. An additional bed cost an extra $50 a night. Even though the booking was for 3 people. How odd. After a long conversation with the receptionist we received a 50% discount (paying an additional $25) but to be honest- we feel the extra charge was unfair. In the room itself- the shower is very dated with a faint stream of water. A tiny bottle of water costs $5, where in most hotels 2 bottles are given complementary. We were supposed to receive a delivery to our room, but only received it after calling and inquiring where is it.
Stepping into the Waldorf is like time traveling. The grand lobby gives the feeling of old style luxury and it's lovely. The location is great. Rooms are large and beautiful.
We had to ask the cleaning substances. In the rooms paid internet only.
Location, elegant atmosphere.
Lacked free wifi in the room, coffee tea making facilities in the room and unfortunately the room was too warm to sleep well in. I'm glad we've been, but I probably wouldn't recommend or return.
Friendly staff, big room, ambiance of a big, historically important hotel.
The bathroom and plumbing were not up to the standard of the star rating.
Beautiful reception area, helpful and courteous staff, except for the guy on reception when checking out.
Staff were often unfriendly Our bedroom was tired, a couple of things that should be put right in thus standard of hotel eg torn wallpaper, a stain that could have been removed. The blinds in the room are frayed round the edges not what I would expect in thus standard of hotel.
The grandeur of the public areas is stunning
The hotel has an atmosphere different from most other hotels I've stayed in - this is a good thing. The Park Avenue entrance and lobby are absolutely stunning and it would be difficult for even the toughest critic to find something to complain about there. The Waldorf is not modern, and it's not supposed to be. Again, this is a good thing. It's more old New York than Marriott. Our room was very large by NYC standards (larger than our friends' two bedroom apartment downtown). The staff is attentive, polite, and well aware you're paying $500 per night to stay with them. Although the room was elegant, it was a bit dated. There was noticeable water damage on the wallpaper covering a ceiling beam, which you were forced to look at while lying in bed. The side tables beside the bed had also seen better days - there were some pretty sizeable chunks of wood missing from the tabletop. I believe the Waldorf is currently refurbishing some of the rooms. Perhaps this will be remedied. Even if these minor infractions are not remedied, I would stay again and probably recommend to friends and family.
Sandpaper bath-robes, no slippers in rooms, impersonal huge dark central lobby that lacks atmosphere or grand hotel wow factor. Long queue to check in.
Great location, friendly knowledgeable door staff, iconic.
Overpriced everything. $32 for a small cheeseburger and fries??? we ordered 1 piece of Red Velvet cake and coffee brought to the room... $48.33!!! I am not a cheap person and have stayed at plenty of 5star hotels, this was just a waste
Prices of drinks too high to stay at bar! And no coffee/tea in room as room service was expensive. As a lot of wealthy guests this was only a problem for the minority. Other than that it was wonderful
The facilities of hotel and location were spot on! Free Wi-Fi in Lobby for my daughter was a hit and the doormen were lovely, it made my present to my daughter a very special one!
Expensive food. $40 breakfast buffet is a bit ridiculous.
The Waldorf is wonderful. Beautiful and spacious rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Will definitely stay here again!
The staff were not friendly or helpful The room was extremely old and very old facilities.
Dont be fooled thinking youre going to get a hotel or service that lives up to the historic reputation of the Waldorf
Not much, the location was good
Expensive to eat drink etc
