great location, high standards and relaxed vibe in luxurious surroundings. Choice of dining and drinks good, pre dinner cocktails in the lobby a must for people watching.
No wifi in the rooms, which you would expect free with this standard of hotel.
Old hotel room extremity small !!!
So convenient and centrally located
There was no free WiFi in the rooms - only the lobby
I love Midtown so the location is great for me! I also love ambience of the lobby and the glorious elevators - so classy!
The employees from room service were super nice but the food was boring at best which is more than disappointing at such high prices! In room movies equipment was outdated & couldn't pause or reverse it!
Location excellent for most areas of attraction
Expensive wifi (why not free), no tea/coffee facilities available in the room. Pay mor for its iconic status.
The service. Unobtrusive but always available to be helpful.
The day of arrival a porter tried to get me out of the cab I was riding on the street while it was snowing instead of inside the building, in the carriage entrance.
Freindly helpful staff.
Paying for wifi
Uppgraded to Waldorf towers
Very busy lounge for breakfast, several people had to stand, when paying big bucks, you do not want to stand for breakfast
The history & fame of this hotel is still reflected in the beauty & the service here. It is still special & you will be treated beautifully. January rates were incredibly inexpensive & less than the big tacky chain hotels. This is one-of-a-kind & part of New York's history - you won't regret paying even full price for this hotel!
All positive - nothing one would ever regret.
Beautiful public spaces
Although room was clean and tidy it was very dated and a little dog-eared. Bathroom even more so.
Everything! Even little archaic is cute!
I enjoyed the bedding! The staff was so pleasant and helpful, and the location is superb! The Waldorf Astoria still possesses lots of Class!
I had to go out into the snow and cold to get an inexpensive cup of coffee. Just a thought, include an area for guests to get free coffee, hot chocolate and tea on blistery days.
The location was good, near 5th Ave, so very close to the shops.
But, it is too expensive, the rooms are old, but clean. there is no coffee machine or free water. I wanted to stay once in my lifetime in a real NYC Landmark Hotel. But I have to admit, I am very disappointed.
Overpriced for the service and amenities they provide.
The hotel is in an excellent location on Park Avenue with short walks to 5th Avenue shopping, the Rockefeller Centre and Central Park. It is very grand and luxurious, the staff are very helpful and attentive and the rooms are very clean with possibly the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept in! If there is a downside, it is not cheap but neither is New York in general, we paid about £24 inc tip for two drinks in 'Harry's Bar' located in the lobby. Overall though, a great place to stay
If you need to be Midtown East or just don't like the hustle and bustle of Times Square the location cant be beat. Although it is more a business location than a typical tourist location. If you do get a deal then book it - but only in a higher category of room. If you can afford it - take the Towers.
The staff is truly hit and miss. I had absolutely atrocious service and rooms and good service and rooms. The lobby is usually packed with tourists and non-guests so having a drink at the bar is usually not a nice setting.
The bath room
The location and the beautiful Art Deco public areas. We had a luxury double on floor 13 and it was quite spacious with 2 really comfortable small double beds. With the heating on, the room was nice and warm.
The money is being spent on the public spaces but the room was tired. Peeling paper around the windows and peeling paint on the bathroom door. No water in the room or facilities to make a drink. Draughts from the secondary glazing and poor noise reduction.
Absolutely loved the comfort of the bed and pillows!
Didn't like the fact that there was no free wifi in the rooms.
We loved the Sunday brunch, hanging at the bar with Frank, the bartender and Chamber Magic
The vibrant atmosphere downstairs. Comfortable rooms, good size for an older property. Rooms and common areas always in beautiful comdition. One of the really grand old hotels.
I loved the friendliness of the staff as well as the great location! The room was clean and the shower was fantastic and actually had water pressure!:)
We weren't a fan of the room. It seemed very small for the price. In this case you pay for location.
Lobby bar and restaurant very good and the manager was fantastic and remembered our name every day.
Beds are a bit small for two people but maybe its because I`m used to a king size. This will not put me off the Waldorf...
expensive wifi, no in room tea/coffee facilities, no air conditioning (just old fashioned heaters which were noisy and unreliable). Long check in lines, overall expensive and really 3 star rooms at best
Clean and central location
Everything is available only if you pay! No free WiFi, nobody picks up the phone if the hotel is busy, checking-in at 3:35pm took us 25 minutes of waiting because rooms were not available..
