Visiting this hotel was one of the items on my personal bucketlist. I did it.
Location was great.
This is the centre of Manhattan, and so you should expect the meals and room to be expensive. The carpets were a bit dated, as were the bathrooms. I disliked that WIFI was extra in the room, but free in the lobby. This is 2014 and WIFI should be included in the room rate.
Hotel art deco environment, room and public areas Most staff Location within walking distance of several key tourist attractions Easy access to taxis
Ridiculous prices for extras such as room service and food/drink in hotel bar Initial welcome despite booking, was cold.
Location. Professonalism of staff which is essential for a hotel of this immense size
The bathroom lighting is not ideal. Lack of coffee/tea in the room and the fact that you have to request them in advance. Space for clothing and suitcases almost non-existant.
Location The Lobby...beautiful...historic This was to be a special adventure with my 6 year old grand daughter in celebration of her birthday
The double beds room was NOT at all what was advertised. Very small, almost as if it was made into a double bed room.Drain clogged while showering.Linens needed to be changed.Expected room to face the street...instead it faced a courtyard.
Very comfortable beds, good location
Front desk staff were snobs, bar was too expensive, policy of making the first guest give up credit card for a 500 dollar hold was ridiculous since this was my treat and staff would not let my friend in to room even though this was my treat And was on my credit card. When I went to front desk to have hold removed I was given more grief. Will never stay here again.
Good location, comfortable beds.
I made an unintentional mistake on charging breakfast to the wrong room and the waiter was quite rude about my error. I also noted that there were some spills on the bathroom door and door trim when we first checked in that Housekeeping had not cleaned.
A very, very dated hotel. Feels like you are stepping back in time. Went for a drink at the W next door and the contrast was staggering.
The Hotel Bill was more than expected. Although the Hotel lobby was lovely the room we stayed in was quite standard and right by the lifts so didnt get much sleep. It was our anniversary and we saved up to have a fantastic experience but were left wanting
The room was too hot.
This facility continues to be relevent after so many years of being such an iconic hotel....that says everything!
Constant Line-ups at reception
The baggage check on the first floor not adequate to check in the volume of people checking bags on Sunday morning. There was a lot of upset people with the line. This would be an easy problem to fix and the only sore spot in an otherwise great stay..
Interier of the lobby, pleasant atmosphere, consierge service
Location of the room, noisy aircondition and heating
so clean, staff were excellent.
very expensive to eat and drink
The location and property were impeccable
The service from start to finish was horrible
The elegance of the entrance and foyer. I room wasn't ready at check-in and we were given a complimentary drink. The room was exceptionally large. For some reason we were given a disabled room. The Bull and Bear was excellent and expensive.
Check-in was quick and the room was ready within 15 minutes; however, it took another hour to get our key. My husband lined up with all the check-in guests for 45 minutes to get the key! There should be a separate pick-up line to get your key. Coffee and tea makers are complimentary; however, you must request one?!
Cleanliness and location
Historical hotel that is still beautiful. The Location. Staff at check-in Staff in FedEx dept.
Jon at the concierge desk was extremely rude and should not deal with people. He was condescending in his manner and really couldn't be bothered to help us with our questions about getting around New York City. Our experience with him tainted our opinion of our total stay at the beautiful Waldorf
Location, location, location
Hotel hallways had food trays and carts; no coffee maker in rooms like the Fairmonts; we stayed a week with no free in room Internet...
Poor fabric condition of bathroom. No tea / coffee in room Bathroom required complete upgrade
Staff did a very good job of trying to meet my needs. Moved me to a large suite the next day. I appreciated the upgrade but would have preferred a good room to begin with.
Checked me into a room that in no way met WA standards or my expectations. I booked a King room and it was a queen room with no clock, a duct taped hole in the desk for electrical plug ins and poor cooling, so had to sleep with the window open and sirens going off all night. Even the suite they moved me to had a bathroom that needed much attention and not up to what I expected from WA.
The location felt very secure. Staff very gracious and willing to meet your needs.
Food in the hotel was very expensive and not worth the outrageous cost.
Location. It was central to everything
There was construction going on until 2 am and we could not get a good nights sleep
I think the Waldorf is still just trading on its name. The bathroom and in particular the shower was at best warm and just very tired looking. The front desk needs more staff on it there are always queues all day.
