The lobby was very pretty.
Very slow checkin, we had to cancel a 5:30 dinner reservation because we were not in our room yet. No coffee in room, no coffee in lobby, long line to get coffee from restaurant. Called for room service for a pot of coffee and told 45-50 mins. A ball of wires in our room the size of a soccer ball, must be a fire hazard. Small room, small bathroom. Over priced.
Posh, famous, close to centre yet quiet area
Old carpets and decor.
Superb location, very clean, the lobby is marvelous.
The windows were so dirty you could barely see outside, the light in the room didn't work, the noise from the street can be heard by night. The bathroom is (too) old and desperately needs renovation. Staff could be friendlier in such a fancy hotel. Very expensive.
Most comfortable bed ever! Beautiful hotel
I used to go to the Waldorf as a child and it oozes glamour. It still does but it has a more of a nouveau riche feeling than it did in the old days. I hope the new owners will bring the glamour back. As you walked in the park ave. entrance, there was a loud wedding in the ballroom with blasting rock music. That would never have been there. Perhaps it being on a separate floor would have been more appropriate.
it is not the Waldorf I knew in the 50's and 60's. The peacock alley restaurant in the lobby changed the upscale decor a bit and the rooms vary considerably, although we were in the towers where all the rooms are lovely.
Location. Close to everything we needed to do.
Needs updating. Dowdy carpets and furniture.
upon waking up the first morning at the Waldorf I discovered a bad water leak in the ceiling above one of the windows in our room. The carpet was wet, the ceiling was bubbling and plaster was all over the ground. I called to report it, but upon returning 10 hours later all that was done was a garbage can was placed under the leak, the water and plaster wasn't even cleaned up. Then we discovered damage to the ceiling above the bed and used tissues from the cleaning staff lying around. While they did take some $ off our bill for the hassle I was so disappointed and won't stay there again.
Big rooms , clean...
Noise , blackouts are poor, valu of the mony .. Dose not worth it.
It was a beautiful place. The room was nice clean. The service ok .
Staff is very accomodating. Rebecca @ Reception Desk was excellent. Concierge and Ticket stations also. very people friendly. Would definitely recommend W-A, however, costs $$$$$$$.
Big Bus Tour (as recommended by Hotel) leaves a lot to be desired. I've been to many different countries and used the Hop On/Hop Off bus and this company by far is sub-optimal.
The queue at check in and out.
The location because it was very historic. The lobby and room were beautiful. Service all the way from the doormen flagging cabs, to the front desk, to the tour reservation woman, to the valet parking men, the entire staff was wonderful and very helpful to us who had never been to NYC.
Nothing, everything was what I expected and more.
The first thing you notice is an amazing Clock right in the lobby.
Great location in Mid Town. Go north a few blocks you're in Central Park; go South West you're in the Times Square district. Decor is vintage Art Deco style and gives the place great ambiance. Beds are top notch. Service staff are usually excellent. All in all a special place that merits the premium rate.
Breakfast buffet at Oscars is complete but a tad over the top in terms of price. The traffic control on Park St left a little to be desired. Our limo driver complained of having to pay to wait in line. Not cool.
The hotel was beautiful! We were early so they sent a text when our room was ready
We were able to hold our bags at the hotel while we waited for our room. Once we checked in they said they would be brought up in 15 min. Over an hour later I called and they could not find them. I had to go down myself to find the bags and then carry them myself back to the room.
No coffee in room no fan in bathroom
The best bit was the beds which were superb, such a good night sleep.
The worst bit was the lack of ventilation in the bathroom
We loved the old style glamour and people watching in the lobby. The staff were extremely attentive and not at all stuffy. The beds were really comfortable and we had a great sleep
We booked a suite in the main hotel and it was lovely but the bathroom in particular is really showing its age. The room was over the air con vents and the noise was constant but on the other hand it drowned out the city noise.
Everything was fantastic!
It is a huge, traditional, hotel, that seems well run.
It is not my type of place. I prefer smaller and less pretentious places, but that is me, it is not the Waldorf´s fault!
The wide halls with a sense of luxury and great history. Location is perfect close to the main attractions.
The front desk is always extra crowded, the check in process lasted more than half hour and it was stressful. They serve Brunch at the main lobby what makes it even more crowded and with a strong smell of food.
I did love the location of the hotel and its majestic lobby and main floor.
We encountered a bell man who was so "not pleasant" to more than one person. The beds are only double so very cramped! Could be more traveller friendly by having maps at check-in. They send guests downstairs to collect their own baggage when leaving. We checked in early and upon return have to get into the long line up again to get our keys, other guests were complaining about the same thing.
Location and Lobby
1. Floor carpet was wet 2. you can't close the bathroom door due faulty door. 3. Bed was too small. 4. Old dirty stuff. 5. No room service. 6. Worse hotel room i have seen in my life.
I do love the hotel but this time the stay was just unacceptable !!!
We waited an hour to check in . I thought we were going to be upgraded . The room had mold on the wall by the window and stains on the carpet .They placed us in a suite ,so I ended up sleeping in a pull out couch .They never offered a discount on the room or send up an amenity .
The warldorf is an american landmark. We had an amazing experience we stayed in the Marylin Monroe suite. Totally amazing!
