Boasting 3 on-site restaurants and a free shuttle service to San Diego Zoo, Seaport Village and San Diego Airport, Wyndham San Diego Bayside is on the San Diego Bay across from the cruise terminal.
Score from 206 reviews Very good
Overlooking San Diego Bay, this waterfront hotel is next to the San Diego Convention Center and PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres professional baseball team. It features a full-service spa.
Score from 1117 reviews Very good
Coronado Island is only a 15 minute drive from this San Diego hotel, and the Gaslamp Quarter Station is within walking distance.
Score from 91 reviews Excellent
Beautiful hotel, staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the location (just to the margins of the gaslamp quarter and walking distance from the Marina) was perfect
The excellent music at the Plaza Bar on Monday evenings. Great atmosphere, great bar-tender.
After a whole day at a conference coming back to the Westgate was such a delight. Clean room, a ready bed because staff turned it over and bottled water with a full bucket of ice ( with chocolates to boot), such a pleasure!
No breakfast buffet.
The service from the front desk , the entire staff and the restaurant and room service
This is a dated facility. To fair the rooms are of decent size, and the staff is trying their best to make you feel like in a 5 star hotel. However, be under no illusion about this hotel.
The gym is small covered with a dirty carpet. The pool is in a shadow or the surrounding buildings. Some (not all) rooms are connecting, which does not give you much privacy.
Large comfortable room with fabulous bed. I like that the windows open to let in the San Diego air. Staff was courteous and helpful when needed. The pool and hot tub area is nice as well.
Lobby is a little shabby for the quality of the rooms. TV's in the room are small given the size of the room.
Staff was attentive, friendly and eager to assist in all areas.
The concierge was very helpful with ideas, planning etc. But she seemed to respond differently to some of us. The first few days when I would go to her for help, her suggestions were great but always made feel like-"oh you again." This was confirmed when I was waiting my turn and she said to the person leaving, "NIce to see you again." Never heard anything like that from her. MY spouse got the same impression.
The very spacious room, comfortable matress, well appointed bathroom, abundance of LARGE bath towels and overall decor!
Television reception was sub-par.
Perfect location for touring San Diego. Gorgeous and functional antiques everywhere.
The hotel location in the heart of San Diego, it close to Gaslamb street and many shops, restaurants, cafes around the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and well serviced. The staff was politeز
The noise of the Tram and ambulances. The parking fee.
We love the Westgate and have stayed here for years, including our wedding night 31 years ago! The addition of the pool deck area is very nice. Staff is always extremely accommodating and our room was spotless.
I really don't like the facility fee that is tacked on to the daily room charge. I know that many hotels have gone to this, but I think it's sneaky and had hoped that the Westgate was above that. Just make it part of the rate! I try not to stay at properties that charge that fee as a personal protest.
1. Ambiance 2. Location 3. Staff
Restaurant and bar closes too early...especially for a weekend
Big room with very comfortable beds.Plenty of space, chairs etc in room.Balcony which opened for fresh air a bonus.Location excellent downtown and close to restaurants shops and waterfront. After high prices in San Francisco this hotel and district gave very good value for money.Staff very helpful and friendly.
Would have liked breakfast included.
Beautiful hotel in central location with attentive staff. The small lobby bar is always hosting live performances by musicians or stars from the San Diego Opera or Broadway shows booked into the Civic Theater next door.
You won't find much to disappoint you in this great place.
Friendly staff. Huge bed and bathroom. Central location
Very impersonal for a solo traveller. Nowhere to meet informally. Rather too overwhelmingly 'antique'. Constant Jazz. Odd opening hours of attached cafe.
Room and bath room.
Breakfast is not buffet.
Great helpful staff, beautiful decor. Enjoyed a lovely poolside dinner and jazz band.Lovely food in beautiful restaurant.A very exquisite hotel, and just loved the smell/look of the roses.
Comfortable, quiet room with en suite dressing room next to bathroom, walking distance from USS Midway, a shopping mall and the Gaslamp District. Didn't eat at the hotel, so can't comment on dining facilities. Huge choice of eateries in walking distance.
Price but you get what you pay for.
- Excellent location - Friendly and helpful staff - We forgot some clothes in our room and the hotel quickly made sure they were returned to us
Friendly and spot on advice by the Concierge Pool
Jacuzzi and pool area were lovely!
Customer service was a bit dry
Spacious room with great view. Friendly staff beautiful lobby & pool area, enjoyed exercise room. Relaxing Thurs evening of food, drink & jazz by the pool. 5 minute stroll to restaurants in the Gaslamp district & a leisurely 15 minute walk to the Amtrak station & another few blocks to the harbor. Didn't miss the car at all.
Paying a $15 resort fee for wi-fi, the pool & exercise room.
Located right outside of the Gaslamp Quarter and round the corner to the Trolley. Our room was huge and clean and we always had plenty of coffee and water. Housekeeping service is impeccable.
Very Luxurious hotel in a central area. Rooms spacious and elegant. Robes, ironing board and iron stored in bathroom. Near trolley bus tour stop. Walkable to Gaslamp district and waterfront.
Although hotel was full, rarely saw other guests and the bar was lacking in ambience and atmosphere. Only 2 other guests in there at both 7.00 pm and 11.30 pm. Barman closed bar at midnight, turned off music and put lights on then "invited" us to finish our drinks in the lobby! We actually would have preferred to have stayed in the bar and order some more drinks. We have never stayed in a hotel before where the bar has closed so early while hotel guests are still drinking.
Great staff, downtown location is easy to reach by cab or walking, the blue line train stop is at the corner (Tijuana-San Diego). There is an outdoor area with a long pool, exercise machines, and lounge chairs.Breakfast was good with the best pancakes I tasted in town. Water bottles, coffee/tea machine, and chocolates one night, were in the room. Bathrobes are provided to use to the pool. We heard from a local couple that the hotel is known for their weekend brunches. The hotels in the area offer a car rental service through the concierge which was great for reaching La Jolla and the San Diego Zoo. The car is brought to your hotel where one signs the papers and pays for the day. One can return the car at the same or anther local place. One calls the rental phone number 15 minutes before returning to the hotel and an agent will be there to take the car back.
This is a place where one can tip a lot. Staff is positioned to be in places of need - to hail a cab, empty trunk, load up the car and show you around your room. There is a daily charge for wifi, water bottles, and pool, I think. This is a fancy place, not a good choice for families.
