Staff, comfort, room, view.
The pool water was slightly dirty when we stayed, looked like toilet paper was shredded and floating about. But, the facilities as a whole were great.
Location. Close to other restaurants. Close to waterfront. Free wifi n free airport shuttle. As an SPG member we got upgraded for a water view. All staff have been very helpfull.
Parking is rather expensive
Location. Bedding. Room layout and complimentary water.
Thought breakfast Buffet was a bit lacking and over priced for what was there.
Good bed, decent size room
Poor overall service and facilities. No Valet available most times, Few servers in bar. Restaurant closes before 9PM. Mini coffee kiosk wasn't open and ready to serve coffee at 6AM. Never saw a housekeeper. Labor issues?? VERY Unhappy. I'll stay elsewhere!!
Location is good. Parking is too expensive.
Checkin was very nice, and when I asked about Internet, they comped it for me. I asked for a quiet room and they gave me a room on the 13th floor away from the elevator. The hotel was inexpensive.
Room had a door to the adjoining room, which was noisy (TV). But that was only for a little while.
The staff was friendly and outgoing. The concierge staff-especially Holly and Michael-were outstanding. Their recommendations for two separate dinners were spot on and excellent.
The location and the cleanliness were awesome and the staff was really nice
I wish the parking would be free
I like everything about the hotel
The staff was amazingly friendly. From the moment we arrived and valeted our car. We also were immediately upgraded thanks to Yasmin at the front desk. Yasmin was the sweetest, because it was our anniversary and we arrived too late for them to bring us champagne to the room (complimentary) she gave us vouchers for us to use at the bar. The bed... in my boyfriends words is a "sleeper hold" meaning once you are in... cya! We were on the 20th floor facing the water. The view was incredible. We opted out of the room service (which I really wanted) to go downstairs to the restaurant. They had an amazing breakfast buffet. I recommend it. Though room service was not outrageously priced to be honest with you. Check out was very quick. Valet was excellent. I read some reviews about people having to wait a long time for their cars, that was never the case for us. Maybe it was a slower weekend, but even at checkout time it was only a 5-6 minute wait for the car. Bonus point, the concierge was super helpful.
My first impression of the Westin San Diego was by email with the concierge. They were very attentive, very accommodating, and went out of their way to ensure that my trip was outstanding. The room was immaculate, as were all of the facilities. I am a writer who was there to conduct interviews with highly confidential VIP subjects, and I made some special accommodation requests to ensure our privacy and quietness for my writing. The staff accommodated them all discreetly and professionally. I want to give a specific kudos to Andrew and Molly at the concierge desk. They made sure they not only tended to the requests I made for my guests, but paid attention to one tiny passing comment I made about needing to find a place nearby for mimosas - they made sure I didn't walk far (at all). :-) Exceptional. I hope to be back soon! Michelle, California
My only very mild complaint is about the servers in the bar who could use a little training. They are generally older ladies who come off dry, disinterested, and distant. I ordered a glass of pinot grigio, and was served it in a stemless red wine glass.... ?? I asked her if she minded putting it into a stemmed glass so that my hand wouldn't warm up the chilled wine and although she politely complied, she looked at me like I was asking for my wine to be poured into a beer mug.
1) Room was oddly shaped 2) Room was much too small 3) Weird and illogical placement of light switches 4) Phone by bed not working 5) Room not cleaned at appropriate time 6) Exorbitant valet parking charge 7) The walking entrance into the hotel, from Broadway, seemed unsafe.
The bed is comnfortable and the staff was nice and accomodating
I hated the location, middle of no where and very isolated. The rooms are institutional and we had no hot water in the shower. The toiletries in the ebdroom were a joke and there was not even a comfortable chair. I resent paying $15 a day for WIFI and parking is outrageously expensive. Finally, I just found out they are holding $105 as an authorization to my cc in case i " damaged the room". They never told me they were doing it and claimed I authorized it. Westin , NEVER AGAIN!
It was clean and looked nice. Staff was helpful.
Heard water pipes running at night while we were trying to sleep. Parking was ridiculous $40.00 for guest with just unlimited entry and exit. Pool.... what pool. There was just a 2 lane strip of a pool. I request a crib for my 1 year old and my room was down graded to a full size bed when we book a king. I will not recommended the hotel to others.
Total lack of security that enables anyone to access guest room floors from an open street level entrance (no room key requirement in lifts). Where are Westin's safety standards? Tiny bathroom Sliding bathroom door is like something out of the 50's!
- Very average hotel not up to the mark of a Westin - Rooms had poor finishing. Tiles in the washroom were really tacky. No shower gel - Was promised a 1000 points Starwood credit if we did not ask for change of towels etc. We did hang the sign outside the door but haven't seen any credit. Do I need to demand it or shouldn't it be automatic. - The elevators were scary. Only 2 worked for the higher floors even though the button was common for all 4. Average wait time was 2-3 minutes. The elevators also used to suddenly make a beeping sound and give jerks during the ride. Scary. - Had asked the concierge to arrange for a cake for my wife's birthday as a surprise. Since there was no one to deliver it at midnite, agreed to a 11 A.M timing. However, it didn't turn up. When I checked, I was told that I had the DND sign on. Is the guest supposed to know that the DND restricts not just house-keeping but even a specific order that I had placed from being delivered. Even if so, I had left my mobile number at the concierge for any issues. Some one could have called me. All in all, the whole surprise failed - The pool was a joke for a 4/5 star hotel. It is just a large tub. When we went at 5 in the evening one day (I would assume that would be peak), the spa was shut as there were people cleaning the hotel exteriors above it. Apart from the weird timing, the area was marked off with a yellow tape tied to a chair!!!!!WOW...is this really a Westin?? Extremely disappointed with my stay.
San Diego is a must visit place. Westin is good quality hotel in good location, within walking distance of most attractions.
Pool is small and slighlty overshadowed in afternoon.
Location was central to airport, naval base, and Gaslamp District. Quiet hotel, but not too quiet. No noise from the airport. Easy access to the 5 freeway. There is a great farmers market a few blocks north every Saturday.
The hotel bar closed at 11pm, and even though potential customers continued to go up to the bar to order, they had to turn everyone away. Other high-rises blocked our view of the beach from the sixth floor.
lovely and great location and price was great
odd experience with lost and found
We loved everything. The front counter staff was ultra helpful and eager to assist at every point of our visit. The bar staff was great on conversation and helpful in identifying great places to eat downtown. We did get massages and that was great. We stayed on the 22nd floor and I highly recommend the Bayview/Cityview King room. Its location is right down the street from the harbor.
The massages were pricey, but for the convenience of not having to leave the hotel, understandable.
everything is very beautiful nd luxurious love the fruit infused water and free wine tasting
hot water issues, loud guests partying on our floor, loud fridge prevented from sleep, wouldn't move our room until I pushed it to the head mgr
Concierges were very helpful; local knowledge and good recommendations
Central elevators inconvenient
nice building rooms were nice
did not appreciate being told one price and then getting my bill and having it get jacked way up also there are hidden fees that they do not tell you about and that they continued to pull money out of my account when I am no longer staying there will not being visiting this hotel again!!
