The chairs in the room were threadbare, inside stuffing showing, tables scratched. The clock had not been changed from the clocks being turned back over a week .the room phone needed charging. The reception desk was unbelievably slow. We asked for an early call at 4.30a.m. To make our early flight. We watched the time being written on a list. No call whatsoever and we were shown a blank different list. We barely made our flight. The only good thing I can say is that the bed was clean and comfortable and the location was good. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel was really great and I am satisfied with almost everything there. The facilities and interior were not new and modern but they were clean and classic. Also the superior King room was quite big and enough for two people. The lobby and restaurant in the hotel was good and people in the hotel was firendly. The location for people who like to shop and hot place such as good restaurant and shops and streets was perfect and it was safe place for us(young women). Also the price to stay is reasonable. I strongly recommend the hotel but I think some people who like modern and new can not like it. There are two things to know. First thing is that it is not free for using internet and not reasonable. Second one is the place near the hotel and some part of the hotel are under construction. But it is not too annoying. These are all to complain and overall, the hotel is really good.

Two reasons we wanted to stay at The Whitehall is the location and your reputation, I am a native Chicagoan and have lived near three major Metropolitan areas on the East Coast, as well as, three months in England. We were very pleased with the accommodations enjoyed are visit very much. The staff responded quickly to anything we asked. Also, the price was great. Only problem was lack of water pressure on 11-25; maybe everyone was taking a shower at the same time. When we checked out we alerted the person the desk and he made a note of it.

The best this hotel has to offer is Location and 2 staff members. The concierge, William, and the front desk, Cory, are 2 of the best in the business. Eager to help, more than accommodating, and great people. Too bad the place is not kept up physically. The physical condition of the hotel needs work. It needs paint and wallpaper and carpet. The light in the room was very poor and difficult to put on makeup and even difficult to read. The windows haven't been washed for a long time. The room rates varied from $100 to over $300 which we paid. Quite a disparity. The bath towels were thin and scratchy. The bathroom fixtures were loose on the sink and tub. It really needs a complete overhaul! The computer system needs to be upgraded. Unable to print boarding passes at the kiosk. The restaurant downstairs was not tidy and the windows need to be washed. They did make a great cappuccino.

Staff was great, very helpful. My room was nice, even if I had a wall view. I was close to everthing and had a great time coming and going. Next to the hotel construction, or destruction as they were tearing down a building, was going on and made for sleeping in very difficult. This was not a fault of the hotel, but a fact of city life.

The reason I answer is to complain that when we reach the hotel by 10.30pm we were told that the hotel is over book and cannot get us a room. We were very angry when were wait and saw people checking in and we ask why. The reason given is they have call earlier that's not a good answer. Eventully they only given us one room and the other two have to travel hrs to check in. This cause us to waste our precious time as we travel all the way from Malaysia. Only thing they can say is to complain to the Manager tomorrow morning. Do you know how angry both my friend was as I am the one who book the hotel for them and we have the confirmation slip with us eveen that is no good. You know what time we sleep that night @ 1am and the other two @ 3am in the morning. I need answer from you even the manager have apology to us and not charge the room for the two friend of our the two night only. How about me I have to pay the three night but only able to sleep by 1 to 2 am in the morning. And answer please. The complain is the above as I ready like the hotel location but you must not just given room away when we have even have to paid one night if we dont show up. Uregwnt reply needed.

I liked the proximity to shops and resturants. My room was not cleaned on Saturday and I had to repeatedly ask for towels, soap, etc., and it appeared that I was asking for something I did not deserve. It is likely that I will not stay at the Whitehall Hotel again.

The location and friendliness of the staff, however, it needs to be upgraded a bit and is showing some wear. It needs to be updated, for example, the carpet replaced in the hallways, painted, brightened up.

We went on Med. Cruise in November. The staff at the Whitehall rivaled the cruise ship's for professionalism, courtesy, and attentiveness. I hesitate to write this part of the review because the Whitehall has always been held up to us as one of the great small hotels in Chicago. The listing was misleading. We booked a superior queen; however, when we double checked the actual description it said it was a large double. We had expected a queen size bed. The bedside tables and tv hutch had at least thumb nail size chips and needed to be refinished. Supposedly there was a coffeepot in the room; there was not. Also there were no robes. I think we will most definitely try another hotel the next time we stay in Chicago.

The staff and the manager was very nice. We had a very bad experience with noisy and drunk guests on our floor which resulted in the police arriving to remove them from the hotel.

I loved the room for one. The front desk was very polite and very accommodating. At first (5 minutes) they couldn't find my reservation number and after just a few minutes of wait time the gentleman (Carlos) was kind enough to "upgrade" our room for the 5+ minutes of wait time. The room turned out to be huge with a great view of the John Hangcock and Magnificent Mile. All this for having us wait five minutes. Talk about great service!. Great service, great room and Hotel with an "awesome" price. Can't beat that. Would highly recommend this Hotel and certainly plan to stay here again. My wife and I stayed here for the convenience of going to the Bears game early in the morning, too bad they lost.
