The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make our stay special.
a little bit hot inside the room "over warm"
Location and very friendly, helpful staff
The ambiance, welcoming staff and price made this a great stay while visiting a daughter who lives close.
The floors are pretty creaky as they are hardwoods. Might be fine but the people above us started pacing at 4:00 AM. We mentioned it at the front desk and we're comped a bottle of wine. Nice staff response! Request the 4th floor!
Loved the staff, bed, breakfast and wifi!
Didn't like the garbage truck operating just outside our window at 6:45 am.
Loved the location. There were shops, restaurants, grocery and drug in every direction! The area is a treasure of activity.
The one thing I found interesting was the amenities distribution. Most hotels have little travel soaps, shampoos, and lotions; I was just taken back by the amenities being securely placed on the walls with dispensers. Also, no air conditioning may cause problems in the summer months.
the hotel was clean and neat, parking was close by, (not completely happy about having to walk down an alley to get there), but it was secure. the heater wasn't working upon our arrival, but the clerk provided a portable heater, and the room system decided to work at around 2 am, toasting us, lol. staff was friendly and helpful, items in the mini bar seemed a little pricey, and a few were missing, but we weren't charged for them. not much room to unload luggage, about 3 car lengths. continental breakfast was as expected. I would stay again if I returned. booking.com kept me updated on price drops prior to arrival, allowing me to save on the rates. thanks
Staff, friendly, location
Convenient to where we were going. Rate was reasonable
Room was overly warm.
Free champagne for my boyfriends 21st birthday, and friendly staff
Staff was great
Location and allowed us to check in early!!
Loud pipes/radiator at night
The staff was very friendly and the room was comfortable
The heat was through radiators and impossible to control
Incredibly comfy bed and a heater in the bathroom. Very friendly staff available to offer travel advice.
Breakfast was fairly basic: bread rolls and juice.
It's a beautiful old hotel in a convenient location, attractive rooms, and comfortable beds.
The biggest disappointment is the deceptive advertising on Booking.com I paid an additional $5 for "free breakfast." When I checked in, I was informed that everyone gets free breakfast and that I paid $5 for nothing. I complained to Booking.com who agreed to refund the $5 to me out of their own pocket. The hotel refused to refund the money. I found the whole situation to be unworthy of a nice hotel. It's only $5, but the cheapness and attempt to nickel and time on behalf of the hotel is sad. Otherwise, I would mention that some of the rooms don't have adequate hot water.
The room was very nice along with everything in it and the location is so lively at night it was nice to enjoy the b
The shower head sucked I hope it was just our bathroom. The walls are paper thin also I could hear everything next door.
I really liked the location and the staff was very helpful. Also, the breakfast was pretty good and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Smell of smoke in corridor
Breakfast in the morning.
Pipes made noise a few times in the night.
Almost everything... Great staff, and I mean great. Nicely maintained, old, stylish hotel. Good WiFi sgnal. Nice lobby amenities. I will go back.
Saturday morning at 8AM, very low water pressure, and it took nearly twelve minutes to get hot water in the shower. Also, there were a couple of long hairs stuck to the side of the tub that didn't belong to me. The BIG problem is parking. There are a limited number of parking passes available for the lot at $22 per day, but the lot allows unlimited exits and re-entries. Parking on the street is about impossible.
The staff, the style of building, the location was great! Didn't feel like I was staying in hotel but rather had my own studio apt. If I ever need a hotel in Chicago again, I'm coming here! My boyfriend and I fell in love here.
Great great great! Only complaint, and it was a little one, they have radiant heat, super toasty, windows do not open.
