General advice for staying on this side of the bay (though not anything about this hotel in particular): Ferries to San Francisco only run during the day, and service is limited on weekends. Because we wanted to spend daylight hours doing nature things, we ended up having to drive into the city (and pay to park there) if we wanted to do anything there in the evening. If you are driving to the airport, leave at least 1.5 hours before you need to be at the airport--we thought an hour would be sufficient, but traffic was a nightmare! Best yet, don't plan a flight during work hours on a weekday (our first mistake, really).
This place is truly a gem for a San Francisco-region hotel, because FREE PARKING! I think I picked it for that reason above most others. In addition, the service was really wonderful, the room was spacious and beautiful, and the on-site restaurant is excellent (though pricey--it's a nice dinner out kind of place). The location is great if you are going to get out and explore Marin county--it is about an hour's drive north to Point Reyes through absolutely stunning scenery. Close proximity to Muir Woods and Muir Beach as well as other prime Marin Headlands spots. Hotel is a 5-minute walk to ferries, and situated nicely near Main Street in Tiburon; really charming collection of shops and restaurants, many with a waterfront view.
