Convenience and location
January 21, 2015
At some point of the evening room started to smell on cigarette smoke (probably from one of adjacent rooms). It was so bad that I run air-conditioning although night was quite cold. Room itself was not too bad, but facility in general needs some renovation. I know that California is hard up for water, but not so bad that moping of passageways and stairs would be forbidden by law... I did not have particularly bad experience for one night, but will not be coming back.
Free Wi-Fi. Location on the Main Street. Quite substantially equipped kitchen. Adjacent to McDonald (if you like that kind of food). Gas station across the intersection.

The city is a strange place as is the whole area. This has nothing to do with the hotel. But it's near a birder hotspot and the hotel was a bargain.
Nice central location close to the Salton Sea

Worn outward appearance was off-putting. We almost cancelled before seeing the room because of appearance of buildings. Poor offering for breakfast, no banana for cereal. However, fresh apples were offered and coffee was hot..
Cleanliness. All things about the room were very clean in contrast to the worn, dirty appearance of outer buildings. Fast and thorough service though curt, no sociability. Very convenient location for our needs. It was very quiet though situated on a very busy noisy main thoroughfare. Room was located behind another building so noise was blocked.

We requested a handicap access room for an amputee and were placed on the second floor with no elevator. The pool was closed. Then when we were checking out they attempted to charge us for being late, while we had to move special needs equipment out of the room.

My mother and I, along with my 3 kids, recently stayed at this motel for the Cattle Call Rodeo. If you are looking for a family friendly place to stay do not stay here. Our first night there, one of my children accidentally wet the bed. My two oldest children have been potty trained for over two years. This was a blue moon occurrence. We took all the bedding off and asked the manager the next morning if we could get new bedding for one of the beds. He was standing on the second story leaning over the railing and yelling at us, asking "Why does it need to be changed?" When we explained (in the middle of the parking lot, with other customers walking around us listening) that my almost 4-year-old had an accident, he then yells even louder "There's pee on the bed?" He storms down the stairs yelling the whole way about "damages" and demanding to see the room. He then threatens to kick us out. When we reminded him that we already paid for two nights, he then threatens to sue us for damages. Keep in mind that this is still all taking place in the middle of the parking lot. We ended up paying a $25 bed changing fee and on the receipt he writes "Bathroom on bed". Once he was paid his "fee" he storms out of the office and yells at us again saying "She better be in a diaper tonight!" and "If it happens again I'll charge you $100!" As if this wasn't bad enough, my 4-year-old is hearing all of this while we are trying to get in the car and head to the Rodeo. The following morning when we checked out, the manager-after taking out room keys, storms from the office, across the parking lot and barges into the room which we had been staying in. Our car was parked directly in front of our room. We weren't even backing out of the parking spot yet when we can clearly see him running his hands all over the sheets and then proceeds to re-make the bed!!
I liked that it was a mile away from the Cattle Call Rodeo, which is why we drove 3 hours.

1. Room charge was supposed to be $55.00 plus tax nothing said about booking fee. 2. Remarks made by owner that since it was a 3rd party booking that we would not get a choice room, but because of the booking fee issue upped us to a king bed. 3. One of the most unprofessional hotel/motels I have ever stayed. There were signs everywhere, no unauthorized guest or you will leave immediately no money back, if you had diarrhea within the last 14 days no swimming in the pool. 4. The continental breakfast was a few pastries that could of been from last week, coffee was bad (wife's opinion), I just walked over to McDonalds after one look at it. My wife said that going in and out of the office nobody ever came from the back office to say good morning.
