We liked the convenience to Javit's Center, safety with NYPD across the street, overall cleanliness of the hotel and room were good. Decent cafe adjacent to the hotel. A couple blocks away is a decent Diner both places had NYPD eating at them which helped ease our concern in that part of the City. We walked from Times Square when we arrived, it was a bit sunny so it was a great walk, maybe 1.5 mi or less. Staff was friendly, all were middle eastern and spoke so fast I felt like they were rushing us whenever we had any questions. Small lobby area with a sofa and chairs, computer you pay for but comfy little area.
Both beds are hard as boards so we both had two sleepless nights. The walls are paper thin so with singers in town auditioning for The Voice it became annoying to hear the words of their songs over & over for hours whenever we were there, you could also hear full conversations. Hotel is very old, room is dated but apeared clean and was fine in that respect. They do not offer free WiFi, seriously! I asked if there were a shuttle or numbers to cab companies, I was told cabs line up out front all day & night...NO they do not. Had to hail a cab in the snow & rain with water & slush up to our ankles at 6am, only "1" drove by on the ooposite side of the street & Thank God he turned around to come back, I asked for his name & number which he chuckled and gave to us and he showed up each time we called and was very friendly! I would seriously urge management or owners of Travel Inn to upgrade the beds!
If your're looking for basic clean lodging this place fits the bill. Car parking used to be free but now there's a $20/night for car parking which is still much lower than parking at a garage. The location is great if you want easy access by car into NYC. And it's close to the theaters and Time Sq.
The double bed room has small, double beds that aren't the best. The showers drains back up when showering. The heating unit is very old but it works ok. Overall not bad for s budget hotel
Travel Inn - Midtown Manhattan is located within a few blocks from New York City's theater district. We could walk to the theater even under the severe freezing weather. Its rooms are quite spacious, compared with other newer hotels in Manhattan. And we appreciate its parking facility, which used to be free but now $20 for a car per day.
The building is old, and the floor plan is quite complicated. In some rooms bathrooms are too congested.
We got to the hotel at 9:30 a.m. and we were able to get into our room. Very nice staff.
Convenient location, reasonable price (by NY standards). We really only wanted a bed for the night at as low a price as we could get. It met our expectations. It is very convenient for Times Square, being no more than a ten minute walk. Not fancy but OK.
No hot drinks machine or kettle in room.
Location and parking
need new mattresses and shower heads
I like the location of the hotel because it's near times sqaure.
The women receptionists are not accomodating. They are hard to understand. The wifi cant be reached inside the room; had to go outside to have access.
Nothing at All, wanted to checkout but other upmarket hotels were fully booked during our time in NYC
Bad heating system in room which leaves little choice for controlling temperatures. Staff at reception except a gentlemen called Zheeshan were as cold as the NYC weather. Never in my life been staying in hotrels for the past 25 years for business and pleasure had I to endure such a noisy location from construction, loud street music, noise from tram line, etc. The corridors towards the poolside is moulded, depressing ambience and this hotel should be only good for backpackers with NO star rating
Location, parking on sight Great hotel for the money
The staff was ok but didn't go overboard. Room was OK for an inexpensive NY Hotel
I loved the location and the value for the location.
couple blocks from Madison Square Garden. Few Blocks to 5th Ave. Location was excellent. Room was clean, bathroom modern. Inside parking for small fee. We arrived a little early but we were able to check in. Staff was Excellent. We can't wait to stay again. We have found a new hotel for NYC.
Good location...great breakfast place downstairs.
Have to pay for wifi and bathroom is a bit dated.
Place was clean, and staff was nice. Nice size bathroom with large shower. Comfortable king size bed.
Room was small, but not bad considering being in New York. Room was very warm, and since the room did not have a window to the outside(window opened to courtyard hallway), plus no a/c, there was no way to cool the room. The staff did bring us a small fan upon request, which helped.
cleanliness and good location
the bed was broken in the middle; the heater doesn't have an automatic control, you have to turn on and out manually after a while because the room goes from cold to hot in around houlf an hour
Love the location. The room is very clean. Love that you can park at the hotel with a small fee. This was the second year we have stayed here and will be back again next year.
Location was great. Easy in and out by car via Lincoln Tunnel. Close to Port Authority Bus Terminal and about a 10 minute walk from Penn Station Room was bigger than I was expecting. Onsite parking. Deli attached to Hotel has good food and reasonably priced, and clean
Some of their ads said Free Parking, which is not, but only $20. Room was facing 42nd St. which was a bit noisy, but your in The Big Apple, so that was to be expected.
clean rooms, liked the "motel" kind of atmosphere, friendly staff.
bit older hotel, but rooms are good. Payment for wifi is a pity as pricing is quite high for room anyway.
Rooms were nice and comfortable. Two blocks from the subway station. Convenient to the theater district.
Rooms on 42nd street side had some street noise.
For business Mark Ferrara who works here in Midtown on E. 46th would stay in a more updated hotel. He will be staying frequently in the city in the next 6 months.
The bed is comfortable
I can hear everyone walking by my room the whole night. I'm so afraid of that.
Location was awesome. Not far from Times Square, but not in the middle of all that congestion.
Room is a little small, but we weren't in the room that long.
Friendly and helpful staff. We arrived early and they got us right into a room. We asked them for a larger room with a microwave and fridge and they gave it to us!
Parking was not free, but it was right onsite and they charge 30 dollars a day instead of 45-50 like most other parking garages in NYC.
The staff were good
Far from the train station for family..
Bed was very comfortable. TV had a lot of channels. Shower/bath water was nice & warm. Location was fantastic.
The heater in my room didn't work on arrival. These things are inevitable so I didn have a problem with this. My issue was with how the hotel staff dealt with the matter. We were given a (very) little electric heater, which barely made a difference in heating the room (there was a cold snap in NYC when we visited & outside temp dropped to -4degrees at 1 point). On the 5th day of our stay, we returned to our room to find the heating had been restored & left on all day. Our room was extremely hot, & there was steam coming out of it. It was also leaking water all over the carpet, which meant about 7ft of it was completely soaked through. It took 4 calls to reception for them to send up someone to sort it. The resolution? Heating fixed but towels over the soaking carpet for 2 days.
