Bad service, ugly, unsecure and a very hot place for quite big money. At
check-in receptionist tried to sell a smoking room instead of a non-
smoking one (which I choosed when booking online), room was dark, not
renovated, wallpaper fell off the walls, beds were torn. Ac went wrong
so I had to spend the night in a complete 'sauna'. Could not
make a phone call to the reception though, because the telephone in the
room had no cable attached to it. Although the hotel offers 'free
local calls' with its rooms, it's also a serious security
aspect: a non-American traveller, in case of any trouble or health
issue, must be able to use the phone in the hotel room. In the morning I
consulted the owner (called him from the reception with the help of a
new receptionist, a young lady who was really understanding and
helpful), and asked the price (210 usd for 1 night incl. Taxes) back.
The owner said that a full price-refund was not possible so we ended up
at a 50% price-refund which was done immediately.
Location is the hotel's only positive feature but - based on my
experiences - I suggest that in the case of visiting San Antonio,
travellers should make a decision rather to spend a few dollars more and
stay in a clean, well-equipped, secure hotel/inn right in the heart
of the city.
