Score from 883 reviews Very good
Very nice and hard working staff. The complimentary wine at 5 o'clock is also a nice touch. Also liked the personal style of the hotel.
Really lousy wifi. It's 2014 after all. Windows are not isolated for sound so make sure you bring ear plugs. Aircon also sounds like jetplane taking off.
The excellent staff and the details in the decoration.
super staff super room free wine free coffee what else do you want :)
smelly room; I read about the garbage disposal in reviews but totally underestimated the loud noise coming from the street in the morning
anything filthy carpet non accommadating manager tiny room with not enough space for my suitcase to open dreadful noise all night no curtains no window to open too hot at night with ac too noisy to have on
Found the staff friendly and helpful. Received anniversary gift - great. Room was a good size.
A little noisy at night when airconditioning working and some traffic noise.
Staff was courteous and friendly. The location is amazing!
Very disappointed in the size of the room after the many hotels we had stayed at previous to arriving in San Francisco. It was more like a European hotel. The lobby is small especially as it is used as a reception room for wine tasting and can be noisy. No coffee machine in the room. For the price of the room, didn't expect I would have these "complaints". Our view was a BRICK WALL and other guest room windows. No, it is not value for the money.
wine tasting and coffee for brekfast was nice touch
room bit cramped.
Location. Friendly and Helpful staff. Wine hour!
The noise that comes from the alley at Night (looks like someone throws bottles in the garbage and the noise really bothers)
The location is just amazing, the staff was really friendly. It was one of the best hotels on our three week long road trip on the west coast.
The staff were wonnnnderful and they made my anniversary trip soo pleasurable! The location is great...
Very good located. Just at the entrance of china town. Very close to union square and many shops. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice happy hour with free wine
As it is located in the middle of the town it id noisy during the night.
Fantastic venue with staff that were more than willing to help out with all aspects of the stay from a travel, sightseeing and food perspective. Highly recommend this hotel to all travellers and business people alike.
Location, staff, room decor and good coffee
Additional money charged for City tax($25) and parking (over $50), which made the room a little more than i can afford ($280) for one night.
Location was excellent. Very friendly staff
No coffee kettle so safety locker in room no complimentary water bottles.
Good location, helpful and friendly staff, clean and comfortable... couldn't ask for more. Good price for a hotel in ST too!
Room was a little snug I guess.
These boutique hotels are terrific. They are unique, very comfortable and more personable than the large chain hotels. Especially like the fact they are usually in old historic buildings. The fresh hot chocolate cookies were a real treat. Terrific location across from the Dragon entrance of Chinatown and Trolly up/down California street.
Linens are good quality, for some reason felt the duvet was a little flat compared to other Kimpton's stayed at. No other negatives to really speak of.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Good location if you can't afford Fisherman's Wharf or don't want to stay there. Clean.
Bottles emptied by bar next door at 1am me can't we had to sleep with earplugs in. Rooms could do with being updated.
The hotel is in an excellent location, close to China Town and Union Square. Fisherman's Wharf is within walking distance (40 mins) or can be reached by cable car. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Coffee/Tea is available in the lobby every morning. Good internet connection.
The view out of the window was of a wall and you could also see windows to other rooms which meant you had to keep the blinds down all day.
Front desk couldn't be more helpful . Vibe of whole place was positive and welcoming
Bit of outside noise but that's the location !
pretty hotel friendly reception good café next door good location
Location was excellent, right at the entrance to Chinatown and less than a two mile walk to Fishermans Wharf. Starbucks and a small market right across the street and only a couple of blocks from a trolley stop. Staff was beyond friendly, helped us with every question and request we had. The decor was funky and fun but comfortable. No central air but the window unit was more than enough for us.
My only negative was the lack of natural light in the room. The room just had a tiny window when it could have leveraged the entire wall looking out over the Chinese Gate.
Staff goes out of their way to help, solve problems and arrange details. Very clean. Fun location (can be noisy).
Very small room, no light in closet, window air-conditioner (although that helped screen out street noise)
Great location Free wine hour Helpful staff Very clean Quirky design
Expensive Valet Rooms a little on the small side Noise from the street
