Staff was very friendly and informative.
Tween Waters Resort is an awesome destination with the Marina and bay to the rear of the facility and the white sands of the Gulf to her front. My family had an excellent relaxing visit and can't wait to do it again.
The only negative thing was the lack of oven in the kitchenette. The setup forces you to eat out and is probably what it is meant to do.
Location is great beach is close
Beds were not comfortable
We chose this TweenWaters because of the location , the fact that it is a remote birding spot, has no mass tourism, has a quiet beach. All true! Tween Waters strengths are (in our opinion) ; Spacious modern bathroom, great bedroom, nice bay view (sunrise!). We thought the breakfast was more than can be expected of a 3star Inn. Lucious tropical vegetation everywhere. There's a Polish lady trying to sell excursions during breakfast. If you like to be adventurious ; don't go in a group and do it yourself; rent your private boat and sail to Cayo Costa yourself. Great fun worth it! We booked a boat at beach bum (on the TweenWaters Marina); $180 for 4 hours, we loved it!! We spotted many dolphins. Also in front of the hotel we've seen dolphins. Apparantly the manatees can be spotted at 6 pm at Jensens marina. We haven't seen them, although we did see many different birds.
The premises of Tween Waters look worn, but the suite itself is fine (we booked a one bedroom suite, it's the biggest suite they have, which meant the kids had to sleep on the sofa bed, a bit uncomfortable. The pool water was too warm, and pool too small for the number of guests. The day we arrived the pool was packed. Big disappointment, we didn't come back. We enjoyed the quiet sea instead and had a great time. Kids loved to play in the warm waves of the Mexican Gulf, we even swam at sunset. Magical!!
Looking out from our balcony each morning at the dolphins and manatees cavorting the the bay was a great way to start each day. The breakfasts at the restaurant on site were very good, and we passed up the free continental for the hot breakfasts, very reasonably priced and included the buffet as well. The bar was a fun place to drink and eat with the Crab Races, and the beach was a very short walk across the road, where cabana chairs and umbrella/chair setups were available at a reasonable cost if you needed them. Shelling was good, and the weather turned out nice and hot with the exception of one thunderstorm in the evening, which was fun to watch. The staff, from the reception desk to the concierge guys to the housekeeping people to the bartenders and servers, were top-notch, friendly and very helpful. Great vacation!
Having to leave! If I had unlimited resources, I'd live on Captiva or Sanibel and visit the 'Tween Waters often!
Restaurant service was spotty
Great getaway spot with everything about the trip being a great experience
Room, had a one bed king overlooking bay - very quiet, good balcony. Large bathroom. Great beach. Good Spa offering discounts and very thorough trreatments from well trained staff. Great food at Crows Nest in the evenings. Good breakfast with swift service, even at peak times. Lovely staff. Would definately go back.
Pool area a little dated and could get crowded.
Relaxing get-away with the beach just across the road. Several restaurant options within a mile from the resort. Little things matter to us, for example, while at breakfast our room would get cleaned which was awesome.
Even though the continental breakfast was included with the room, the wait staff wasn't attentive if you only did the continental. The individual checking us in wasn't familiar with the nearby amenities, such as a grocery store. Wi-Fi in the room was unreliable and weak.
Tropical experience with out the cost of travel
The towels were like sandpaper. Bring your own.
our room 306, free breakfast, free wifi, the location
wait staff at the pool, price of drinks at the pool
Love the grounds. They're well maintained and lush. The staff, especially the men on the beach are perfect! Breakfast was a great surprise-not the usual waffle maker and powder eggs.
Our room, which had a wonderful gulf view, needs some work. The bathroom fan made a terrible noise, the toilet seat slipped and the air conditioner had a mind of it's own. Still loved the view.
The grounds were beautiful. The pool and the beach were great .The continental breakfast especially the fruit and pastry were wonderful
Room was small and did not have a comfortable chair.
The room was beautiful, staff at breakfast were wonderful, front desk staff were excellent. Poolside was very nice and the burgers were great as well as the bartenders. Drinks were fantastic
The elevator did not work well for the most part. The food at the Captiva Inn was not good, taste not very good for the price.
Older rooms were remodeled and on good condition. Kept fairly clean
Drinks and food were just average but very expensive. I tecconend you bring food as kitchenette had ample room got cooking. Not many eating options nearby.
The property was very clean. Personnel at the front desk were very well orientated and helpful. Food was very good. We will return.
The personnel in the main dinning for dinner and breakfast need an attitude adjustment. The men and woman never smiled or responded when you said thank you. Talked to the General Manager about this area.
It was very quiet and peaceful.
The carpet in our room #361 was very dirty .
the food was great people were all friendly place is nice
the place at first look seems old deceiving lots of bugs
Rooms are old and need renovation. Worn out furniture. We initially stayed in studio, condition of room was horrible and also cramped. Complained to front desk and they moved us to 1 bedroom which was better, however room and furniture still needed renovation. On second night we were almost attacked by huge roaches coming from kitchen with lights turned on. There must have been a nest in wall in kitchen. Another roach crawled up bedding while we were sleeping. Checked out following day. Also food was horrible. Pool needed maintenance and was dirty. Bar drinks were terrible and SO overpriced. Will NEVER stay at this hotel again. There is a newer part of hotel which we assumed we were booking and then would be upgraded to, not sure why we were not. As far as I'm concerned the older part of facility should be torn down. Not sure why anyone would give this facility a good review. This was a 2 star hotel at best and my business involves a lot of travel so I know what I'm talking about.
No handicap Rooms for elderly guest Unsafe bathroom facilities
The beautiful location and the helpful kind staff
views and pool
rooms tired, no outdoor dining facilities
Picture sitting on your screened in balcony overlooking the marina and placid Pine Island Sound watching the sun rise over Buck Key, while manatees lazily swim by the shore, mullet jump in and out of the water, and dolphins swim in the distance. That is just part of the experience at this fantastic resort on Captiva. I spent Memorial Day weekend here with my family and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. After checking in at the registration cottage, we drove to our parking spot beneath the Gumbo Limbo building, sitting on the bay/sound and across from the active pool. While it was a tight squeeze getting the rental SUV into the covered space, I managed with care. Our room, a queen suite, was perfect for our family of 5. The suite contained a mini-kitchen with a two burner stove, microwave, full-size refrigerator and cabinets filled with pots, pans, plates and utensils. Nice, but we didn't use the cooking things much. The large bedroom had two queen beds and the living room included a relatively comfortable sofa bed. The screened in balcony with sliding doors to each of the rooms in the suite had a lovely few of the marina and sound. Very pleasant and beautiful sunrise views. From the balcony, you can view the activity of small boats coming and going, manatees lazily swimming by the shore, native birds of all types, dolphins swimming, and fish jumping. The beach is across the road and is private. Renting cabanas or chairs was a little bit of a disappointment, but in the heat of the season, glad they were available. The charming setting of Tween waters is somewhat rustic and the cottages date back several years. We had breakfast, each am, in the Old Captiva House. A continental breakfast was included in our stay, but for a few dollars more, you can order a hot breakfast, which some of us did. We had dinner one evening at the adjoining Crows Nest--the food was good, grouper, fish fry, etc...and the price reasonable.
tight parking space beneath our building.
Good service, good amenities for the price. Everything is a short walk. Short drive to restaurants in town.
