The young housekeeper (not the hotel attendant) was singing country
music loudly as she listened to her headphones as she cleaned the
surrounding rooms and after I kindly informed her we had a late check
out and were taking a nap (had just driven through immense Seattle
traffic), she rudely nodded, started skimming through her Cosmopolitan
magazines which were all spread out on the table in the hallway where
guests can purchase souvenirs, so I went back to my room, hoping it was
just a fluke and we could get some rest before we hit the road. Then,
much to my surprise, she continued to loudly sing off key where I could
hear her not only outside my window where I normally heard ocean waves,
but in the hallway as well! Finally, I decided to talk with the hotel
attendant and the matter was tastefully and quickly cleared up. Very
awkward contrast to how I perceived the calm atmosphere to be. My
boyfriend, who normally isn't phased by things like that, was very
surprised that this was going on, and supported me looking into it.
Also, the night before, people traipsed right through our outdoor fire
pit setting on their way to the beach and used the stairs for access.
These kids were not from our Tyee B&B. They then proceeded to party
outside our window late into the morning with their German Shepherd dog
barking loudly. Needless to say, due to disrespectful and downright
tacky behavior, what could have been a restful and relaxing stay turned
into me having to get confrontational. Afterall, this wasn't a cheap
place to stay, so I expected classier behavior in return. The next
morning, guests asked me if I'd heard the dog barking last night,
and then gave me advice to bring ear plugs next time.
The hotel attendant was so friendly and kind! She went above and beyond
to make our stay wonderful. She went as far as putting a birthday candle
on my boyfriend's breakfast because he had a birthday as well as
setting up the fire pit with wood for us to use. So thoughtful.
Can't say enough great things about her.
