The beds were comfortable and free coffee in the morning at the lobby was nice. The location was excellent.
It was obvious that the building was very old. The walls were thin and the rooms were small. The room with the double queen bed was much better with the room with a single queen bed. The toilet was so small and dimly lit, one could hardly see anything.
It 's a nice hotel , very quiet , very easy access to the city center , is ideal to be very few days because it is close to all the sights of San Francisco
Excellent location in the heart of the city, friendly staff, and very clean.
Room was a little small and it was slightly more expensive than I would have liked.
Loved the decor and location. Close to everything but relatively quiet in the evenings. The staff was professional and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Great wifi connection in the room.
The walls do not buffer sound from adjacent rooms very well, but enough if you aren't too light of a sleeper.
The redesigned rooms are very nice. Very smartly designed for being an old hotel it has been updated nicely.
Wine and music
It is close to all the shopping area, all good restaurants and cable car. The bed and pillow are super comfortable. Loved it!
The only thing I really liked about this hotel was the location between the shopping areas. The room set up was too enclosed and had no window or view. The TVs are a little out dated and small. The sleep and soak is just a shower with a bath tub nothing fancy.

Front desk was extremely accomodating to our specific requests regarding our room and went out of there way to make sure we were comfortable.
The tiny room they first put us in.
Really good location
Not all the room have a.c and those who have a.c it is a very noisy and old
Location was great. Close to shopping, public transport, food and drink.
No bar in hotel. Walls a little thin between rooms. Tram tracks outside- go for a high floor to reduce noise, that helped me :)
Size of room, in room safe. Stayed in room 508! Awesome! Location is awesome, close to the Bart, F bus and trolley's!!
Exceptional location, helpful staff and extremely comfortable. Wi-Fi was awesome.
I didn't like that I had to leave.
The room deco maintains the characteristics of the antique building, with a giant window which is really nice. The location is right at the heart of city centre. Very convenient. Opposite hotel there's a big convenient store too. Very accessible to train station also.
Lighting is too dark inside hotel, feels abit gloomy
Location, service, wine at 5pm
Very small room with no storage, window could not be opened.
Loved the location...staff were very friendly.
No aircoditioner in room, we had a ceiling fan but still quite stuffy and could only open one window. Bathroom was very tiny...not much room at all.
The location. The Bathroom.
The room felt like it was very old. AC was an old one that hangs through the window.
This hotel is a quirky personality hotel in an excellent location. All of the public areas and rooms are modern and clean. There is free tea and coffee (although the tea was black with orange) in the reception area in the morning. In the evening there is free wine whilst someone plays the acoustic guitar. We found this a very nice touch whilst we sat there relaxing after a busy day in San Francisco. There seemed to be quite a strange smell whilst we were there, I'm not sure what it was but it started to clear by the time we were leaving. When we first arrived it was in the reception area, the lift, the corridors and rooms. By the time we left just the rooms smelt but I think it was starting to go (or I was just getting used to it). The rooms are very modern with high ceilings, which gives a real sense of space. We had a room towards the centre so no view (other than other rooms). For the price we paid I would consider this hotel to be very good value considering it's location just off of Union Square.
Strange smell but as I said this was beginning to fade out.
Great location Good service and friendly people at the reception and the concierges desk Nice ambiance Nice and quiet on the none Powell street side
Smallish rooms Wifi a bit spotty in my room
Everything..! I saw the pictures of the room and it was a compleatly different than what i stayed in ..It was a small room and the smell was disgusting .. Poor lights.. No AC.. Tiny bathroom.. The doors was rotted..and for the value for money .. It's not worting.. I will never stay in this hotel or suggest it to anyone. To show me something fancy and the reality is something else .. It's completely scam !.
The room was very small but I was alone so it did not matter so much. There was a heat wave and the room did not have air conditioning so it was a bit hot. Also, the cable car runs right in front of it and it makes a lot of noise all day long.
Fantastic position, just behind Union Square and near cable car stop. The hotel is completely renewed in furniture....the only negative thing was that our room was very very small.
Tom was professional, friendly, and helpful in providing us information of things to do. Room had character and comfort...exactly what we look enjoy.
Sink was too small....but we managed
First room was 12x12, a queen size bed and a bathroom. No place to sit and watch TV.
Looking on the outside of the hotel I would never guessed how lovely the inside was. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the hotel had free wifi.
We paid $325 for one night and our room was terribly small and the closet did not have a light. The price seemed outrages, but maybe it's because you're in Union Square, so they have to price accordingly.
