The smell of the rooms.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Breakfast was pretty ordinary. All disposable plates and cutlery and food to match.
The breakfast was great and I enjoyed the gym!
The staff is what makes this hotel great. They gave free shuttle rides to and from the hospital multiple times per day. We had a relative in the hospital (which is just up the hill from the hotel), and the proximity and shuttle service were the most important things to us. The staff went out of their way to help us extend our stay when the hospital needed to keep our relative an extra day. Great coffee (Starbucks), free breakfast, and great prices.
Slow internet (stated at only 1 MB, we experienced .6 MB) which requires multiple logins per day. It's unsecured, so we we unsure why we had to go through the login and authentication process so often. It is free, however.
The staff was friendly and very helpful
Location, setting, quality of the facility.
Inside the university quiet and with breakfast and have a good view of whole Salt Lake City
Far away from downtown
Fabulous view Very clean room Comfortable accommodations Great value for the money Close to everything Fabulous fitness room
Windows too dirty to take pictures of the view Fitness room needs to be cleaned more often Front desk staff was young and hasn't learned to be gracious yet
Location, cleanliness and consistency (food service, room amenities, etc.).
It was a tough week for the Guest House because they were booked to the max and appeared to have too much going on, It definitely affected their staff hospitality, accomodation availability (couldn't stay 2 additional days there) and overall servicing that we have experienced in the past!
Stayed 2 nights with 3 kids in summer. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Facilities excellent, clean. Good breakfast. There is a vibrant atmosphere, with many people from all walks of life, students, professionals, traveler. We felt very good here. The location was a bit removed from city center, but I we liked the hillside view of SLC below. You have to drive to town or take the tram. I highly recommend this place.
Nothing to report.
My wife and I like to use public transportation if possible when we stay in cities. This was perfect. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast was a plus.
We turned off the air conditioner the first night to reduce noise for sleeping. The room got very hot. The second night we left it on and slept fine.
overall very clean and the staff was very helpful.
not having restaurants close by.
Structure, staff, room
Price is a little big high
The location and the facilities were very good. The breakfast was also good.
The staff was outstanding. We took the advice of a young lady working at the desk and wanted to walk to a local eatery but my wife was concerned that getting to the restaurant would be easy enough but the walk back may be too difficult. The young lady at the desk said ,"No problem, we will come pick you up at the restaurant." This is just but one example of the accommodating nature of everyone there.
We couldn't stay a few more days!!
Having lived in Salt Lake City 30 years ago on the East Bench near the U of U, I found the location of the University Guest House to be perfect--our room had a great view of the city and the valley beyond, plus the hotel is close to the University and the heart of Salt Lake. Within walking distance of the Utah Transit Authority's rail system. Also only a short drive from the canyons south of the city, too. There is even a shuttle service from the hotel to restaurants, shopping, and other attractions within a limited area. The king room was spacious and spotless. Good shower head with plenty of water pressure. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was large enough to accommodate numerous guests, and the breakfast itself included an impressive variety of choices, both hot and cold. Another plus is the facility's eco-consciousness. Bags for recycling were available in the room and containers in the public areas along with reminders about the water consumed by laundering towels and bed linens every day. Simply put, I will never stay anywhere else whenever I visit Salt Lake again.
The only negative was the rather noisy air conditioning unit that blew cold air directly onto the bed. I prefer thermostat-controlled, vented cooling and heating in my lodgings, but that is rare except in the most expensive hotels.
Location is great and the rooms have everything you need. Since they are so close to U of Utah, and patients frequently are there longer than expected, they provide a lot of necessities. The morning breakfast is good and plentiful. Coffee and snacks served throughout the day.
Needs some updating
Price, staff, cleanliness, breakfast, location (away from city but with easy access thanks to the tram).
Limited places to eat within walking distance. The information in the room listed several restaurants but none were open outside of term time - it would be useful if that was indicated in the book.
I like the location and the breakfast option.
The rooms are a bit old style with mismatching sink handles and odd rooms style. I prefer to have the sinks located inside the bathroom as to wake guests when when washing hands after a bathroom break in the night. The room rate is a bit much in comparison to a nicer Hilton Homewood Suite for the same price.
The convenience of the facility to the campus and the helpfulness of the staff. The afternoon tea and coffee was wonderful.
The complimentary cookies didn't stay around long enough.
Quiet location in excellent area close to restaurants
Came with breakfast, away from town center, staff was extremely service oriented, clean, free wifi, great amenities
It's some distance from places of interest - I booked a king suite but the room at the end was rather small
Excellent breakfast, room and quiet hotel! Great staff too.
Young energetic staff, large variety of coffee and tea cold and hot drinks all day long in the lobby and fresh apples all day long. Comfortable bed. Beautiful views. Shuttle that takes you anywhere on campus. Great service!
Free breakfast. Tea and coffee served all day (Starbucks and good quality tea).
The mattresses were the worst I have slept on in a VERY long time.
