had called to check my reservation for 2 beds, they were not available when I got there. I hadn't noticed I would be charged $30 extra for our 2 cars. It feels like an older motel and the bed was not comfortable- could have stayed at a nicer place for less
breakfast was great room was ok cost was good
having to pay to park? there was a huge party going on outside our room which lasted over 3 hours that started at about 1 AM. Very feeble attempts to shut it down. Please find away to deal with those types of situations. When I mentioned it to the desk I got a shrug, no sorry, nothing.
I never got the connection with The internet service although it that was included with the rate. Also in the website doesn't mention the two types of room that they have for those that use websites like Booking.com. The Booking one is less quality. The door's lock are in need to be replace in some rooms. I had a bad experience with it... Location is great. But the hotel needs an update
Good value, and great breakfast (full buffet breakfast, not continental as stated). Handy to light rail (will be even handier soon).
Hot water was out 2 nights, and not real hot the final night. They did refund some money for that, though. Finding some of the rooms took practice, since the property obviously has been built in stages.
- value for money - accessibility to street car (once I found the nearest station!) - excellent breakfast - spotless room
When I called before my stay, the front desk didn't know the name of the nearest streetcar/train stop. Being new to Portland, this made it difficult for me to find my way to the hotel by train on my first day. I was without hot water for 1 1/2 days; much too long for something as important as this to remain out of order. When I politely asked a front desk person what was happening he practically ignored me and was unapologetic. Although breakfast was excellent, it would be better if it was available earlier than 7:00 am; I had a choice -- miss breakfast or miss my 8:00 am conference start! The mattress was hard as a rock! The sound from the beltway to the west of the hotel can wake you up at night; ask for a room on the courtyard to avoid this.
large room, nice breakfast
Proximity to downtown locations.
Having to pay extra for parking.
Location is OK Wired Internet works
1. Extremely cold staff 2. Incredibly loud AC 3. Hot water was down for two days!! Suggestion: avoid this hotel so you don't ruin your feeling of the otherwise adorable city of Portland.
near MAX station.easy to walk to downtown.staff were so nice.
Nothing to say about the hotel itself. Quite well located near the tramway, several bars and restaurants nearby...
BUT we "enjoyed" so much the noise of the parties next door that we had to shorten our stay and ask for a refund. The emplyees at the desk were really helpful, however, I do not understand how can one book a room for 10 drunken college students right next to newlyweds?
The only electrical outlet under the desk had two plugs that could not be removed (desk lamp and router). Had to get an extension cord to plug in my laptop on the desk for work and re-charging.
Location is great. Relatively good value for your money. Decent Continental Breakfast.
Front desk staff are not very welcoming and look as if they would rather be somewhere else. There is no wifi in the hotel rooms. I travel a lot and I haven't come across a hotel without room wifi in years. What is up with that? Facilities are very outdated. I don't see why anyone would want want to dine in the hotel lounge/bar. Its quite depressing...
Breakfast and location are excellent
Location, breakfast, value for money proposition compared to other hotels.
Wired internet. Reception not guiding properly even room directions.
The hotel needs to be updated.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Close to shopping.
Location is excellent! Room in the main hotel was way nicer than the rooms I have stayed in that were on the outside section of the hotel
Rooms are very dated, have a lingering cigarette smell, rugs are pretty dirty, they charge an extra $15 a day to park park your car
Good location, good breakfast and good value for downtown location
-noisy/old heating system and peeling paint in bathtub. Cold return air in bathroom vent on constantly. They need a mechanical system upgrade.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable; large, great bed, great in room coffee machine and right on the Portland State Univ campus - owned by them I understand.
What's not to like? I felt most sources had the facility way under rated.
The rooms were clean and comfortable.
The staff I encountered during my 5-day stay were in need of customer relations training. The front desk staff seemed more interested in their conversations with each other than with hotel guests. The housekeeping staff gave me the impression that a guest in his room at 8:30 AM was an interruption to their work. The additional charge placed on my credit card as a security deposit during my stay was also an unwelcome surprise.
I liked that we had heat . I liked that it's a learning facility for university students. The continental breakfast is awesome, great variety.
When we arrived we were put in the last room facing a busy street. Very dark and isolated. The carpet was stained. We requested another room closer ( as we thought we reserved a standard room) now it's 10.00 more a night with wifi. We take it as its in the main lobby , first night sleep no heat. Staff check it out can't be fixed so we move again. 3rd room , yay we have heat and a tv with good picture but loose our fridge & microwave. Accomsfating in that sense but cost wise no.
Clean beds and bath. Easy check in and check out. Close to downtown, good value for the cost. Room had coffee maker. Bath well stocked with towells.
Carpet was stained and needed cleaning. Bed was not comfortable. Cold air came in under door.$15 parking fee when lot was almost empty.
room was clean and cookie at check in was nice. Free hot breakfast in the lounge was good.
I was blown away when I checked out and saw a $15 parking fee on my receipt. Never one was I told there was a parking fee and if I would have know I would have stayed closer to downtown for that extra charge and gotten free parking at a nicer hotel. When I inquired about the charge to the lady at the front desk (she was also the one who checked us in the night before), she said there was nothing she could do about it. I'm mad and will not stay there or recommend it to anyone.
Clean bathroom with a bathtub and hairdryer.
Forced air heat had only one direction vent, right over the bed!! Cold air before the heat kicked in. Ordered a blanket which helped and had to move armchair to help block the draft. Very soft mattress and old sheets, not fitted! This room needs upgrades!!
