Dangerous neighborhood. No elevators on the building, imagine staying on top floor. Room needed maintenance twice.
The staff was very good. The man who welcomed us was very polite and the room was well cleaned.
Trying to hail down a cab was a nightmare.
The place was perfect. It was close to placed to eat and central park. I would definitely stay there again.
Noise from main road was disturbing at night - mainly vehicle noise. Kitchen equipment basic. Top floor flats meant plenty of exercise. Check out was not what we were led to believe, incurring extra charges elsewhere, rather than trailing luggage around all day.
Value for money. 10 minutes walk from Central Park. Location further away from downtown than expected but made good use of subway.
A little warm as the air con unit was at the opposite end from the bedroom section
The suite was cosy and a good size
The apartments are in Harlem, which came as a surprise to me as I thought that the entire island of Manhatten was just Manhaten, and other districts were elsewhere
Kitchen facilities were good, for those who cooks at home this is perfect
$40 extra fee for checking-in past 7PM - we were only 35 minutes late.
Apartment was spacious and the neighborhood is up and coming. We were only in town for the marathon and we knew NYC quite well so being far from Midtown was not an issue.
The area isn't the nicest, but we didn't really feel unsafe. You were never alone on the short walk home from the nearby subway station and the road was well lit. The lack of a reception (we didn't have telephones) is a problem. Even just signs saying to go talk to the (very busy) guy in the hardware store downstairs would have helped.
Very comfortable apartment (although we pretty much only slept here because we were too busy exploring NYC). I thought the breakfast was fine. Owner and cleaner were very friendly and helpful. Not far to museums and Central Park. Subway very nearby.
Only complaint was that the room service did not seem to work well. We were not supplied with milk top ups for breakfast and the room was not made up on Sunday.
This is a good alternative to staying in downtown Manhattan. Coming from a small UK town the area was a bit of a culture shock. Spacious appartment with everything you need for a short stay. Subway stop just around the corner so easy to get downtown in 15 to 20 mins. You can also walk to the Guggenheim in a similar time. A couple of nice restaurants nearby and a supermarket if you want to eat in.
The breakfast provided didn't interest me, but I was perfectly happy to cook for myself. I had to be a bit patient waiting for someone to get to the door to let me in - I couldn't hear a reply on the door intercom, so I wasn't sure if anyone was home - but everything was fine.
It's not easy finding reasonably affordable yet good-quality self-catering accommodation in New York City, but this was perfect! As a young woman travelling by myself, I felt I had to keep my wits about me on the street, but everything was fine (just be sure to use commonsense). The train station is very close, and the local grocery store is only around the block. It's not the wealthiest area, but it's obviously a family area. I was immensely impressed with the chap who carried my heavy bag up several flights of steps - thank you so much! Everything was immaculately clean (fantastic, fluffy towels), and I lacked nothing. Really helpful staff. The air-conditioning was a godsend in NY summer.
