Score from 2903 reviews Good
- Pool, TV and Golden tee in common areas - Good brochure with food, travel and sightseeing reco's - Friendly staff
- No hooks to hang clothes or towels in private rooms or bathroom / shower room - hard for one employee to man front desk and keep breakfast stocked - Common areas close at 11/12
I consider this place like a youth hostel. Facility is complete. Not too fancy but you can find anything important when you are travelling. Fav part is this welcome pamphlet with complete information for tourist. Closest train station was under renovation when I was there. If the renovation is finished, best location for this price. I can't wait to go back!
I wouldn't recommend travelling with family since the walls are quite thin and you'll end up with bunch of complaints.
Convenient/Safe Location; Convenient Public Transit Options; Olivia's Upscale Market next door; David's Tea very close; nice stores - liked Lululemon athletic store. The Urban Holiday Lofts has a marvelous staff: considerate, helpful; willing to answer transit and tourist questions...; Beds really comfy; clean; dealt swiftly/effectively with an issue I had with another guest who was talking very loudly on the phone at 4am in the morning; there is a community atmosphere despite language barriers; some of the staff speak several languages; they offer a nice continental breakfast and they have a fabulous cooking kitchen. I stayed 3 weeks in dorms and have returned with my husband and alone several times and stayed in private/shared bath. I come to Chicago quite often of events so when I need to stay over: this is my spot:)
One of the Bedrooms I stayed in had no hooks of any kind and no shelving where you could put personal items. This was a private room with shared bath - not a dorm which I primarily stayed in. Bathroom's were NOT consistently laid out as some had robe/clothing hooks which is nice; some had several towel bars while others had only the robe/clothing hooks. No consistent placement of extra toilet tissue: some were left under the sink which can be inconvenient. A few fixes would really add to the quality of stay. I am a big recycler so I had to make a special effort as the big recycling bin was being used as a garbage can. The liner covered the recycling lettering and it was in the WRONG location. Even if they had seen: Recycling, they would have used it for trash as the Real Trash can was much smaller and under the counter. As people walk from their table or food prep, it is human nature to dump stuff in the Most Convenient Can:( NOTHING MAJORLY WRONG!
Excellent location and the staff were helpful. Clean everything!
the packed refridgerator. Open the one on the other floor when there are large number of guests.
The staff is very nice and very professional.
In the middle of the night seen the heat system wasn't turn on therefore inside the room was very chilly.
Nice staff members who offers a lot of help, clean and friendly environment.
Staff great fun Cool place
Building work outside but no fault of the hotel
the location, the staff service, the living room...a very beatiful place to stay if you are in chicago and you also want a good price!
the steep and endless stairs and the draft of air passing through the windows during the night
The Stadt was really friendly and helpful, the Location was close to the Subway, rooms were really clean and nice so was the bathroom! :) the kitchen was clean! We really enjoyed our stay
Really enjoyed my stay at Urban Holliday Lofts. Cool stores and nice bars nearby and just two blocks away from the 'L' train. Safe neighbourhood not far from downtown. Didn't mind the shared bathrooms, they where clean and not overcrowded at all. Rooms smelled nice and everyone was super friendly, plus they include breakfast. Great if you travel alone.
Mind that you have to use the stairs to get to the second or third floor, but it was not a big deal because the front desk guys eagerly helped me with my belongings.
Excellent service Clean rooms and bathroom Good Wifi Good location
Very noisy at night Night life from the back of the hostel very loud
The staff treated us well and were rather hospitable. The location was also exactly where we wanted to stay for a decent price. Loved the community room and free breakfast.
Early morning noise, beds were uncomfortable, tenants were inconsiderate, maybe add fruits to breakfast
easy-going staff, very orientated to guests, spacious shared space where guests can stay until their flight after check out. one well equipped kitchen where it is possible to cool real meal. Area is stuffed with bars with live music of different kinds (all information is given from the staff). Metro station and bike rent are in 5-10 minutes by foot.
The staffs did everything they could to help every time, everything was very clean, the room was cute, it is a very good place to stay, I would back anytime. Very good for a hostel.
The heater of our room wasn't working very well.
I've been in Urban Holiday Lofts for 3 nights. I'd like to highlight the costumer service. The hostel is near 3 blocks from subway station.
We had a great time in Chicago and found this area to be a travelers delight. Close to the train line, heaps of funky bars and shops and we felt safe. Urban Holiday Loft staff were always helpful and gave us all the information we needed about the area and more.
I would have preferred Breakfast to start a bit earlier than 8am. Beds were comfortable but squeaky/noisy.
I came to Chicago to see a concert and check out the city. I didn't need a 5 star hotel with all the frills because I wasn't going to be in it. I just needed a clean, safe place to crash after rocking out and Urban Lofts was perfect. The staff was awesome and super helpful!
Position in the city, gentleness of the front desk, safety of the room, pool table (!!!), easy access to the subway, amount of restaurant around.
WiFi network is not accessible despite the codes, the separation between rooms is weak and you can hear everything, especially between different floors, the temperature of the air conditioning cannot be set up in the single room and it was too cold.
Location, friendly staff, price
Community bathrooms, could hear everyone else during bed time
the location is right next to hipster district wicker park with a lot of boutiques and bars, but in a quiet street. plus: close train station, always felt safe when walking home during the night.
breakfast was poor, no room service in 4 days, they did not even empty the trash can. room did neither have a window (!) nor a wardrobe. only one toilet per floor, which means you have to wait some time in the morning till you will be able to use a toilet... I would not stay there again even though it is cheap.
We were going to a concert down the road and my buddy was stopping by my room and walking with us. When he tried coming up they said he couldn't because he wasn't a guest. They also told us to turn our music off because the rules state no music can be played after 9:30. I payed 225$ for one night and I felt like I was living with my parents. Don't ever stay here!
The people in the front deal were awesome and the facility was really good and the location was perfect. People in my room were good. Made a good friend.
Our stay at Urban Lofts was great. The Bucktown area was a fantastic area to stay, lots of restaurants, shopping, and easy access to transit. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Can't say enough about how accomodating they were. All in all, a pleasant stay.
The hotel is well localized.
I stayed in a bedroom in the 3rd floor and it was noisy.
Not possible to make agreements with the place. They were pretending friendly but did not meet pur agreements.
