No elevator to 4th level so you have to carry all the luggage.
Common area is really nice - with pool table and games. Good breakfast.
the toilet in one of the bathrooms was damaged and was not repaired , so it was running one toilet for every floor hosts 3 and was very uncomfortable because I had to be aware to find the empty bathroom and use it .
good location and friendly staff
I drank too much and I don't remember everything.
Great people, great location, great city.
The location was great. The room was comfortable. The gree breakfast saved us lots of money. We stayed in an 8 person room. We had a big group and everyone enjoyed our stay.
The stairs with my heavy bag haha
The staff were amazing. A block from the train station that will take you anywhere you need. Free breakfast. Great and spacious room. Great vibe. Would definitely stay again.
Pillows too small n ac not controlled room was humid
not that easy to find, can only pass a few days there
I suppose the breakfast that was offered wasn't very special. The location was great though with plenty of restaurants around and a grocery next door.
I liked pretty much everything. The staff was great. The young lady at the front desk was cute, friendly, and very helpful when dealing with my luggage.
some of the other guests where a bit immature but that was the guests. Our room was also just below the common room and by 11pm we were able to sleep but hey, they are super cool with getting other guests to respect others and we never had a problem once.
Me and my partner travelled to chicago for the first time and stayed with Urban Holiday lofts. This hostel is by far the best experience we have had. Great helpful and friendly staff, safe environment, sociable with a huge common room, clean, tidy, great free breakfast. Superb location and if you have any questions about anything the staff are so friendly, Jason on the desk was particularly helpful and keen to get to know the guests and help out where he could. I would tell anyone venturing to Chicago to stay here, it is great also for families with kids and mature travellers on a budget.
Wifi speed was terrible
Lacks a big sign out front. Look for the grocery store.
Great hostel in a convenient location with lots of things to do within walking distance.
The only issues I had were more annoyances than anything. The blankets were too small/short for me (evidently they don't want you to bring your own either) and it was very loud- you can hear everything- other people in their rooms, hall ways, outside the building (bring ear plugs).
Urban Holiday Lofts is in a great location in Wicker Park with Bucktown just a few blocks away and tons of good food and drinks and neat stores within walking distance. It's maybe 5 minutes away from the Blue Line that made getting to tourist stuff (museums, Michigan Ave, etc) really quick and easy. Their Wifi was also surprisingly fast and all the staff was super nice. I'm planning on coming back on my next trip to Chicago!
The bed was comfy enough, but I'd definitely suggest asking for extra pillows!! The ones they provide are pretty flimsy.
The location was great, lots of shopping and unique restaurants/bars within a short walk, really close to the Metro (Damen station) and the neighborhood is really nice. Staff was friendly and helpful! We had a private room with an en suite bathroom and the walk-in shower was big enough for two, a great feature!
I did not like the wifi too much. It works some certain times when the hostel is empty but if a couple people are conected it doesn't work to anything but messages and sometimes not even.
They are awesome people and the place is incredably close to the train station wich is also super easy to get anywhere with. The breakfast is very good and the facility is very well maitained. The bathrooms are cleaned all day long and the showers are great. I have no complains to make at all and everything I neede the satff helped me with. They are just te best.
I can't book any more nights, all single rooms booked out ahead of time.
Clean and tidy. Energetic and proactive staff. Jason, you are doing great.
The Hostel is simply amazing. It is still pretty new and the room I stayed in was huge. It had its own bathroom as well as a kitchen. Upstairs, there is a big common area with another kitchen, seats, couches a tv and some Computers to use. They even provide free breakfast! The staff is super nice and friendly. They even carried my bag upstairs :). The area around the hostel is full of Little Shops, boutiques, eateries and bars and it is nice to just walk down the streets and look into the Windows. Also, the Metro is a 2 min walk only and it brings you downtown a well as to O'hare Airport. The Price is cheaper then other hostels and great if travelling on small Budget. You get more then you could expect for that price. Probably the best Hostel I ever stayed at (and there are alot)!
WiFi didn't work so good but that was a temporary
The receptionist/manager was one of the nicest guys I've met for sure. Very welcoming and helpful with lots of tips and knowledge of the area.
The walls are as thin as a paper and the floor cracks with every step. I could barely sleep because of the noise and it was very unpleasant considering I had to wake up early for my flight
Good location and friendly staff
The free wifi has very poor signal strength. Many stairs which is inconvenient with a suitcase.
The rooms have their own bathroom, kitchen and couch. They are very large and there is definitely enough space for 8 people and their belongings. The staff was very helpful and everything was clean. Free breakfast (cornflakes or bagels) is included. 5 minutes to the nearest cta train station (blue line, Damen).
. Restaurants are not near by. .breakfast was weak. Please add bread slice also in breakfast and also fresh juice
. Value for money .near metro .clean .friendly staff I loved it and will surely come back
- No hooks to hang clothes or towels in private rooms or bathroom / shower room - hard for one employee to man front desk and keep breakfast stocked - Common areas close at 11/12
- Pool, TV and Golden tee in common areas - Good brochure with food, travel and sightseeing reco's - Friendly staff
I wouldn't recommend travelling with family since the walls are quite thin and you'll end up with bunch of complaints.
I consider this place like a youth hostel. Facility is complete. Not too fancy but you can find anything important when you are travelling. Fav part is this welcome pamphlet with complete information for tourist. Closest train station was under renovation when I was there. If the renovation is finished, best location for this price. I can't wait to go back!
One of the Bedrooms I stayed in had no hooks of any kind and no shelving where you could put personal items. This was a private room with shared bath - not a dorm which I primarily stayed in. Bathroom's were NOT consistently laid out as some had robe/clothing hooks which is nice; some had several towel bars while others had only the robe/clothing hooks. No consistent placement of extra toilet tissue: some were left under the sink which can be inconvenient. A few fixes would really add to the quality of stay. I am a big recycler so I had to make a special effort as the big recycling bin was being used as a garbage can. The liner covered the recycling lettering and it was in the WRONG location. Even if they had seen: Recycling, they would have used it for trash as the Real Trash can was much smaller and under the counter. As people walk from their table or food prep, it is human nature to dump stuff in the Most Convenient Can:( NOTHING MAJORLY WRONG!
Convenient/Safe Location; Convenient Public Transit Options; Olivia's Upscale Market next door; David's Tea very close; nice stores - liked Lululemon athletic store. The Urban Holiday Lofts has a marvelous staff: considerate, helpful; willing to answer transit and tourist questions...; Beds really comfy; clean; dealt swiftly/effectively with an issue I had with another guest who was talking very loudly on the phone at 4am in the morning; there is a community atmosphere despite language barriers; some of the staff speak several languages; they offer a nice continental breakfast and they have a fabulous cooking kitchen. I stayed 3 weeks in dorms and have returned with my husband and alone several times and stayed in private/shared bath. I come to Chicago quite often of events so when I need to stay over: this is my spot:)
the packed refridgerator. Open the one on the other floor when there are large number of guests.
Excellent location and the staff were helpful. Clean everything!
In the middle of the night seen the heat system wasn't turn on therefore inside the room was very chilly.
The staff is very nice and very professional.
