The motel looked a bit old fashioned on first sight, but the check-in was efficient and friendly, and the room spotlessly clean. Was a bit worried about the proximity of the Amtrak line, but in fact never heard a thing all night. Very easy walk across the tracks and a road bridge to the beach and pier, and in the opposite direction we walked just a couple of blocks to some good places to eat in Ventura.
Location to everything
Horrible wife I could ever connect very frustrating
The room was clean.
I was given a room that smelled like smoke when I had requested a non-smoking room. A train passed next to the room at 12:30 am. It was very loud and shook the bed and rattled the windows.
Location. Diner next door.
Was not obvious how to turn on A/C.
Close to beach and shops & excellent diner.
Too close to train line. Poor breakfast. Went to diner on-site which was excellent.
location Anthony Bodamer Zephyrhills, Fla.
Room 108 noisy. could hear next door toilets running. On request I got a better room #201. Pet owners should pick up their pet droppings. My Apple Iphone 5s got stolen from my room. Not much support from front desk when I complained abt. it.
For the price it was good, bed was good. And after the large group of people left it was really quiet.
they let a group of young adults have a party in one of the rooms. They did not tell us they served breakfast.
I accidentally left my phone on and plugged in inside the room after checking out and returned to the hotel 15 minutes later. On the way back I called the desk and ttold them not to clean the room yet. Upon arrival The room was partially cleaned and the phone was gone. All the staff denied seeing it. I found it turned off and hidden in the bottom of the trash can. One of the staff unplugged it and hid it so he could go back and get it later. Will never stay here again
The location was great, just blocks away fom Main St., and even better, a little walk to the beach. Dog friendly, which is awesome.
We came at a busy weekend,Labor Day. It was booked out, and there was loud partying going on everywhere...the pool was trashed, open bottles, cigarettes...gross. And, there was a total druggie-vibe there, meth-heads abound. We were woken up by the police at about 2:30 in the morning, breaking up God-knows-what. It was such a bummer that this was tolerated at the hotel, and appeared to be PART of the hotel. Next time, Pier Point Inn, or Best Western :(
Basic, presentable and affordable. Some elements were a bit dowdy but nothing seriously decrepit or problematic. Pleasant and responsive staff.
Near the beach
Dirty carpet Holes in the walls, we think someone was shot in the room, honestly.
The location. Walking distance to the beach, restaurants and shops.
The carpets were stained, very unsightly.
Too much noise coming from other rooms, no sound isolation Breakfast was poor and they were no place to eat / drink Pool wasn't open on the time it was suppose be, due to cleaning
My room smelled like smoke. Bed too soft. Place looked ran down.
Excellent location, walk to beach and main street restaurants
Room had a little stale smell about it
a bit run down... staff ok.
No freeway noise Close to downtown and restaurants Restaurant on premises Clean, inviting pool and sunning area We frequently travel to Ventura- this will become our Inn at which to stay!
Check-in took about 30 - 40 minutes due to shortage of staff - but it was late in the evening.
Liked somewhat the location and the fact the room was clean. Also liked the passway bridge to the pier.
Did not like the fact that it was noisy, the train tracks. The fact that I did not have wi-fi available. I think it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Will I stay their again? Only if needed.
very near of the beach
Most of the restaurants close so early
We stayed at the Vagabond a total of 3 nights and we would of stayed a 4th. We liked the fact that the room was pet friendly, affordable and close to the beach. The front desk lady Juanita was awesome. She gave us a few good recommendations about Ventura and was friendly and helpful with any questions we had. She was even very accommodating when we had originally only planned on staying one night at first but then decided to stay an extra 2 she made it easy and affordable for us allowing us to stay in the same hotel room.
The only reason we did not stay a 4th night is because of a different lady who was working the front desk. We had stayed 3 nights previously and had paid cash each morning however on the 4th morning I called and Jenny from the front desk stated that the price for another night was $100 but 10 min later I went to the office to pay and she told me they were entirely sold out. Immediately I checked online and saw that there were multiple rooms still available. When I went to confront her asking her why she claimed they were sold out when there clearly was room, she said she had told me they were sold out of "queen non smoking rooms". Even still I asked to please keep our room another night but now the price rose to $175 because that was the price on the booking website. When I asked to speak to her manager, she wouldnt let me speak to her directly and explained the situation somewhat differently rather then tell her manager she had been rude and unprofessional to the customer. She was the most unfriendly, unaccommodating out of the entire staff because the rest of the staff was nothing but warm friendly and helpful. again Juanita was especially awesome and the maids as well!
The location. Not far from Santa Barbara and just next to the motel is Spencer McKenzie, who serve very good fish fast food (spicy prawns and fish burrito).
Reeceptionist on the first day was not too friendly. Rooms needed a lot of airing.
blood on carpet, inadequate parking
The hotel is very close to the beach which is nice and seemed very safe, lots of families on it. The restaurant on site was really nice. The internet was good and the room was clean and the TV worked. It's a no frills motel but fine for the cost.
The trains were a bit noisy when they went past and the air con was very noisy but necessary as it was so hot. We discovered on leaving the hotel offered a free breakfast, which wasn't mentioned at check in.
The location is very good for down town but the train line practically runs through the back of the buildings
We chose this motel because of the pool but it is not very enticing located as it is in the middle of the car park. It was one of the most expensive motels we stayed in but the facilities did not match those of others further up the PCH. A premium on rooms in southern California!
There was a group of gentlemen up at 7:00 A.M. in the spa drinking, yelling, laughing loud and the staff did nothing. If the question is “Did you call the office?” the answer is no because one can’t say they didn’t hear them, they were that loud. I had reserved the room for 2 days, but after the first night of these gentlemen and others yelling across the parking lot at all hours I checked out. When I did I wasn’t asked why nor was I reimbursed for the second night. You’ll not get my business again.
