Basic, presentable and affordable. Some elements were a bit dowdy but nothing seriously decrepit or problematic. Pleasant and responsive staff.

No freeway noise Close to downtown and restaurants Restaurant on premises Clean, inviting pool and sunning area We frequently travel to Ventura- this will become our Inn at which to stay!

Check-in took about 30 - 40 minutes due to shortage of staff - but it was late in the evening.

Liked somewhat the location and the fact the room was clean. Also liked the passway bridge to the pier.

Did not like the fact that it was noisy, the train tracks. The fact that I did not have wi-fi available. I think it is a bit overpriced for what you get. Will I stay their again? Only if needed.

We stayed at the Vagabond a total of 3 nights and we would of stayed a 4th. We liked the fact that the room was pet friendly, affordable and close to the beach. The front desk lady Juanita was awesome. She gave us a few good recommendations about Ventura and was friendly and helpful with any questions we had. She was even very accommodating when we had originally only planned on staying one night at first but then decided to stay an extra 2 she made it easy and affordable for us allowing us to stay in the same hotel room.

The only reason we did not stay a 4th night is because of a different lady who was working the front desk. We had stayed 3 nights previously and had paid cash each morning however on the 4th morning I called and Jenny from the front desk stated that the price for another night was $100 but 10 min later I went to the office to pay and she told me they were entirely sold out. Immediately I checked online and saw that there were multiple rooms still available. When I went to confront her asking her why she claimed they were sold out when there clearly was room, she said she had told me they were sold out of "queen non smoking rooms". Even still I asked to please keep our room another night but now the price rose to $175 because that was the price on the booking website. When I asked to speak to her manager, she wouldnt let me speak to her directly and explained the situation somewhat differently rather then tell her manager she had been rude and unprofessional to the customer. She was the most unfriendly, unaccommodating out of the entire staff because the rest of the staff was nothing but warm friendly and helpful. again Juanita was especially awesome and the maids as well!

The location. Not far from Santa Barbara and just next to the motel is Spencer McKenzie, who serve very good fish fast food (spicy prawns and fish burrito).

Reeceptionist on the first day was not too friendly. Rooms needed a lot of airing.

The hotel is very close to the beach which is nice and seemed very safe, lots of families on it. The restaurant on site was really nice. The internet was good and the room was clean and the TV worked. It's a no frills motel but fine for the cost.

The trains were a bit noisy when they went past and the air con was very noisy but necessary as it was so hot. We discovered on leaving the hotel offered a free breakfast, which wasn't mentioned at check in.

The location is very good for down town but the train line practically runs through the back of the buildings

We chose this motel because of the pool but it is not very enticing located as it is in the middle of the car park. It was one of the most expensive motels we stayed in but the facilities did not match those of others further up the PCH. A premium on rooms in southern California!

    The location.

There was a group of gentlemen up at 7:00 A.M. in the spa drinking, yelling, laughing loud and the staff did nothing. If the question is “Did you call the office?” the answer is no because one can’t say they didn’t hear them, they were that loud. I had reserved the room for 2 days, but after the first night of these gentlemen and others yelling across the parking lot at all hours I checked out. When I did I wasn’t asked why nor was I reimbursed for the second night. You’ll not get my business again.

Fridge and relatively quiet aircon. Enjoyed the shower.

Lots of people with pets around. The room was very basic and the bed uncomfortable. Lots of train noise.

    Very little.

The area in and around the hotel was scary. Many homeless people in the area. Floor, carpet was constantly wet? Beds, decor of room was very marginal. Train and tracks were just a very few feet from the room, noisy at night and day. Outrageous room price $134.00 for a room of this quality(lack of quality). Definetly would not reccomend,or stay at the Vanguard again.

    The bathroom was very clean.

There were two non-working lamps in our room. I told the woman at the front desk, and she offered me two bulbs so I could go and change them myself.

Very sketchy other guests at this hotel, doors open, music blaring, smoking and drinking alcohol, drugged out looking people sitting on top level steps, we checkout out after being at the hotel for an hour too afraid to leave stuff in the rooms or swim in the pool

The staff was really helpful and kind, even if there was no hairdryer in the bathroom, they provided me with one very quickly. Our room was quite clean and very spacious, but wifi connection was pretty slow. Breakfast was ok, but there was no tables or chairs inside the breakfast hall.

Wifi connection was slow and breakfast room missing tables and chairs.
