Friendly staff, clean rooms, great value, very quiet at night, & kids who stay here seem better behaved than those at upscale hotels. When I'm in NYC all I really want from a hotel is a safe, quiet, clean, comfortable place to sleep & the Y is perfect for this.
I've spent there 9 night and I must say I was really surprised with the quality. You don't expect as much from a hostel as Vanderbilt YMCA offers. Great location, super friendly staff, everyday clean towels on made bed. The bathrooms are not in the room, but are not shared so it's still comfortable because there are couple on each flor. It's great quality for the price.
A little noisy. Room was too hot. Couldn't control the heat
How clean it was
If we've had extra blankets would be great.
room is clean and comfortable. Location is awesome!
Clean Clean Clean bathrooms. Lots of hot water and water pressure. Small clean room a bit over heated but window opened so I could cool it off. Staff and security both very knowledgable and helpful. More like fhe staff at a good hotel really.
Could have been a bathroom closer to the room
Well I didn't know that you provided breakfast, but I liked the exercise facilities best.
Old carpets, had to ask for blankets...too small and bad choice of paint colors.
Ladies locker room, sauna and steam room
There wasn't a way to adequately control the room temperature. Also it would have been nice to have a desk lamp rather than just an overhead light.
I had a single room that was surprisingly large. The shared bathroom was very clean and not a problem at all.
The rooms very out of date
The gum was excellent
A little noisy. The room was not sound-proof.
Liked the gym. Good location.
This is by far the cheapest way to simply have a bed in a safe and central location in NYC, if you can live with shared showers/bathrooms.
Sharing washroom was a little uncomfortable
Friendliness of the staff
The bed was very hard (too hard) and the window was only single- glass - the noices from outside was heard and the temperature inside was affected
I liked the location, and the staff was very nice.
The wifi worked for only few days. The rooms are too small, could be few meter bigger.
The Gym facility, as it well equipped. The cleanliness of the facility. Although the weather was okay when i stay, never thought of using the air conditioner or heater.
-smelly room, I had to buy a spray to try to remove the smell that didn't go away -very old building and very old room (you feel a bit like in prison) -dirty sheets
Was breakfast included? If so, we didn't realise it. The lifts were sometimes a little slow. Our room was too warm but some kind person turned off our radiator. No big gripes.
Super-friendly front-desk staff. Very, very clean. Fabulous location (we loved Bread and Butter opposite, too!). Overall, we'll definitely be back to stay at the YMCA. Thank you...
The location was really great walking distance to a lot of highlights
There was no chair in the room.
The wifi was excellent. The gym is just amazing!
Bathrooms and showers were a strange set up and a bit gross. The lifts were INCREDIBLY slow!
Location was perfect and its the cheapest accommodation on Manhattan! Free gym was great and huge number of facilities available!
There was no chair for the desk, and an extra blanket for the bed would be nice.
The location is great, and the gym facilities are nice. I like the sauna and steam room.
they charge the luggage after checkout, 2 $ for each piece!! There is a problem with their pipes, in general it was very noisy!
* storing luggage after checkout was not free ($2 per bag) * home address etc. had to be written down again despite booking.com reservation
* located just a few minutes away from Grand Central Station * plenty of wall outlets
