Great personal experience I will not forget
The house has certainly got its charms with the interior decorations being very adorable. The location too is very convenient if you intend to visit the immediate area.
While the place may be well-suited to some and may be most travelers, this place was not what we were looking for. Finding the place at night was a problem as there are no clear signs and for someone visiting LA for the first time, this can be a hassle. The interior decorations and original fittings are certainly interesting. However, their utility was dubious, particularly considering the malfunctioning toilets and the uncomfortable beds. While I do understand the importance of preserving these aspects of the house for their historical value, as I said above, this place was not what we were looking for.
Breakky was good Cute house
Staff unhelpful, could not make a phone call for a taxi. Beds very uncomfortable. Could not open outside door. Locks very old and did not feel safe
Location, location, location. Just steps from the beach and Venice pier. The garden is also quite beautiful and relaxing.
This B and B didn't have the usual assistance you might expect from a B and B or even a normal hotel. When we asked for a good dinner spot, the guy at the front desk just said there are a lot of good places on the boulevard. But gave no specifics nor did he even show us a map or mention the many other interesting spots around town. Breakfast is skimpy and we often found ourselves begging the kitchen staff to give us the standard yogurt parfait with granola if they were all out when we got there.
It's quiet and cozy like home. Breakfast is simple but enough. Will come back again.
Wi-fi was not working at all.
Location and homely feel of this wonderful B&B is probably unparalleled in the Venice area. Staff are very nice, the breakfast is very good and the location is very quiet. The house is historic, overgrown and beautiful.
The walls between rooms are thin and noisy neighbours can be a problem. WiFi is slow and not working in all rooms.
The old school vibe, great old property with all the charm that entails, close to all things Venice. Very quiet considering its so close to touristy stuff, great food and bars within walking distance.
Over all enjoyed the house and it's old house quirks. If you expect the Ritz you will not be happy. Take it for what it's worth and you will enjoy. Earplugs can help especially on garbage day.
The house was beautiful and was surrounded by gorgeous gardens and was literally a stones throw from the beach. Staff were helpful and friendly too.
Interior was a little bit like staying at your nans house as it was a little tatty and could have done with up dating.
Friendly helpful staff. Handy location. Bed so comfortable.
No facility to make your own cuppa tea /coffee any time. locks a bit temperamental.
Beautiful House with Nice rooms and stunning garden, very good breakfast, perfect located
sense of a home, converted into an inn without loss of character; seating areas in yard, open and covered; restaurants, bars, cafes, mini-markets and beach all within 100 yards; eclectic selection of books - mostly older - both in public areas and in rooms; breakfast - casual, companionable
staff laid back, to the point of invisibility at times when you actually wanted to accomplish something; Wifi awful - slow, unreliable
The location at Venice beach could not be better.
Rooms are a bit worn out
The location was great, one block from the beach. The house and gardens were amazing, an oasis in a crazy area. It felt very welcoming. The room was nice, bed was comfortable. We were a bit hot at night but found out the next day there was air con. It would have been useful to have been told about it when we checked in. :-) Bathroom was just across the hallway and very big with two baths.
The room was a bit tired but it made a nice change from hotel chains. The breakfast was great but not so much for me to eat being wheat free.
AC was down and the morning person really did not have a good way of dealing with it or conveying how the problem was being solved. I asked for a fan and they said there was no place to get a fan that late in the season.... In the end it was fine and I would go back because it is a cool old house but it needs some love and attention its not getting at the moment.
The house was beautiful in and out. The garden outside was great with sofas and chairs.
We had the Olympic Suite on the first floor next to the open space of the living room and entrance of the house and the staircase. People coming in until late at night (2am) and climbing the stairs. Same thing happened in the early morning (7am). Showers and walking noise. Just not relaxing at all. And on top of that it was expensive. Maybe the rest of the rooms are nice but not this one. Plus a very poor breakfast and a tiny parking spot. Sorry Venice Beach House !
Near the beach (behind ocean front) but not to close to the venice blvd (so not that loud;), very nice breakfast!!
Thin walls ;(
Great location, VERY charming old house, rooms, yard etc.
+ near beach (1min) and pier + beautiful garden/surrounding + antique, tasteful interior + breakfast (except orange juice) + wifi + air con + clean
- the least friendly staff during our 5 weeks trip! Obviously good ratings on tripadvisor have spoiled the hosts. Were given the important information, but no friendly words, no small talk, no smile at all. - very pricey (shared bath only) - parking not included (14$) - writing on front door unreadable - missed the beach house twice while driving by - there were quiet a few unpleasant people at the waterfront / pier so we didn't feel too safe there
Venice Beach House is a little gem. The location is great, close to the beach, as the name suggests. It is also close to the trendy restaurants in the vibrant Venice Beach area. As for the accommodation, this pretty little house with a lot of history is nice and tidy and has a lot of character. In my opinion, it is a great option to the more boring mainstream hotel chains, and offers good value for your money. Breakfast was also pleasant and included.
Loved this hotel, it's absolutely gorgeous old school America building, bedrooms are beautiful and staff very friendly.
Excellent location, one small block from the beach and beach end of Washington Blvd (30 seconds' walk). Very characterful building, lovely room and terrace area. Fine self-service breakfast. Has all you need. Helpful, friendly staff.
Great location next to the beach Clean Friendly staff
Pretty old building Have to pay a lot if you want a private bathroom

wonderfully convenient with on-site parking; near shops and restaurants; excellent access to beach/ocean; friendly staff with filling breakfast with varied choices and afternoon snacks.
