The location at Venice beach could not be better.
Rooms are a bit worn out
The location was great, one block from the beach. The house and gardens were amazing, an oasis in a crazy area. It felt very welcoming. The room was nice, bed was comfortable. We were a bit hot at night but found out the next day there was air con. It would have been useful to have been told about it when we checked in. :-) Bathroom was just across the hallway and very big with two baths.
The room was a bit tired but it made a nice change from hotel chains. The breakfast was great but not so much for me to eat being wheat free.
AC was down and the morning person really did not have a good way of dealing with it or conveying how the problem was being solved. I asked for a fan and they said there was no place to get a fan that late in the season.... In the end it was fine and I would go back because it is a cool old house but it needs some love and attention its not getting at the moment.
The house was beautiful in and out. The garden outside was great with sofas and chairs.
We had the Olympic Suite on the first floor next to the open space of the living room and entrance of the house and the staircase. People coming in until late at night (2am) and climbing the stairs. Same thing happened in the early morning (7am). Showers and walking noise. Just not relaxing at all. And on top of that it was expensive. Maybe the rest of the rooms are nice but not this one. Plus a very poor breakfast and a tiny parking spot. Sorry Venice Beach House !
Near the beach (behind ocean front) but not to close to the venice blvd (so not that loud;), very nice breakfast!!
Thin walls ;(
Great location, VERY charming old house, rooms, yard etc.
+ near beach (1min) and pier + beautiful garden/surrounding + antique, tasteful interior + breakfast (except orange juice) + wifi + air con + clean
- the least friendly staff during our 5 weeks trip! Obviously good ratings on tripadvisor have spoiled the hosts. Were given the important information, but no friendly words, no small talk, no smile at all. - very pricey (shared bath only) - parking not included (14$) - writing on front door unreadable - missed the beach house twice while driving by - there were quiet a few unpleasant people at the waterfront / pier so we didn't feel too safe there
Venice Beach House is a little gem. The location is great, close to the beach, as the name suggests. It is also close to the trendy restaurants in the vibrant Venice Beach area. As for the accommodation, this pretty little house with a lot of history is nice and tidy and has a lot of character. In my opinion, it is a great option to the more boring mainstream hotel chains, and offers good value for your money. Breakfast was also pleasant and included.
Loved this hotel, it's absolutely gorgeous old school America building, bedrooms are beautiful and staff very friendly.
Excellent location, one small block from the beach and beach end of Washington Blvd (30 seconds' walk). Very characterful building, lovely room and terrace area. Fine self-service breakfast. Has all you need. Helpful, friendly staff.
Great location next to the beach Clean Friendly staff
Pretty old building Have to pay a lot if you want a private bathroom

We arrived 10 minutes to 8 pm after driving from SLO, receptionist rushed us through the instructions for keys, parking and breakfast time.
wonderfully convenient with on-site parking; near shops and restaurants; excellent access to beach/ocean; friendly staff with filling breakfast with varied choices and afternoon snacks.
Such a lovely comfy character home truly a must see one of a kind
The perfect home away from home. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Home cooked complimentary breakfast and a treat later in the day. The rooms were quaint and rustic in the best way! It was a truly unique experience. The house is beautiful and it was nice not to feel like I was in a hotel!
Location. Unique. Friendly. Homely
nice, close to the beach
communal bathroom: bath wasn't draining well
Congratulations to Brian and the staff at Venice Beach House. This was my favourite stay of my vacation. Property is in a prime location, the bedrooms are spacious, clean and characterful. The staff are incredibly friendly. Breakfast is a hearty meal and afternoon tea (iced tea, cordial, cookies and cakes) is a superb added bonus. This is a historic building with a mature garden. I felt as though I was staying at someone's house. The stay was so good I intend to return within the year.
The quaintness and grounds of the old house was nice. Breakfast was ok. The main owner was a nice guy as was the lemonade and cake upon arrival.
The room was very dark and they tried to over charge us. The room cost $360 as it was which is ridiculously overcharged and it cost $20 for a fold away and then they tried to charge for an extra person which they eventually rescinded on as I had an email stating they would only charge for the fold away. The house is not on the beach as stated. The area is a dump and is dangerous at night. I would not recommend people stay here. I was really disappointed and was not as expected as I had thought this would be a highlight.
The location was spectacular and price reasonable. I loved that it was this old Victorian in the midst of modern and busy Venice. Very cool. The staff was very sweet and accommodating.
We could never get a signal for the Wi-Fi which was annoying, but not a big deal. Our ground floor room made it hard to sleep soundly, due to the fact it was next to the kitchen and sitting room, so you could hear everything.
Comfortable bed. Beautiful historical house with a relaxed feel.
Parking Space was incredibly tight to park in. Shared bathroom with a slightly awkward shower.
the staff was really friendly and obtrusive. My bed was really comfortable. The location... and the house itself were amazing.
I could hear the people in the room next to me (I was in Abbott Kinney) and actually had to ask them to keep it down after 11 pm. Not sure there is much you can do about that in such an old house except be mindful where you place solo travellers or tell people to keep it down after 10pm? I'd still come back.
It was quiet relaxed atmosphere. The garden was lovely.
