The Union Square area is excellent both day and night. Lots of great places to eat and independent shops.
The view onto the street wasn't great but since we only really slept there it was fine.
Staff was very nice. Location is the best. Room very clean and cute.
I loved the location. This was my first time staying in the city and I will definitely come back.
Terrific location one block from Union Square, nicely decorated and appointed, comfortable but not fancy, very accommodating staff.
Seriously, nothing. It was a great value and I would gladly recommend to others.
Excellent value. Minimal but modern decor. Had everything we needed in a great location.
Location was good for what we needed, but may not be that great for the average visitor. Staff was cordial, room reasonably clean.
Window into tiny light well. Low water pressure and iff hot water. $325/night including NYC taxes during holiday season.
great location friendly, helpful staff comfortable bed
too hot in the room with no AC because it was Winter (was 81F)
- Location! Half way between Union Square and Madison Square Park, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants, and a few blocks from several subway lines. The hotel provides easy access (on foot) to the Greenwich Village, Chelsea and the Meatpacking district. There are tons of breakfast places surrounding the hotel, City Bakery and Breads Bakery were some of the highlights. Also, many nightlife hotspots and popular attractions are a short walk (or taxi drive) away. The hotel has an annexed bar/restaurant that we didn't try but looked very cozy; - Room was great, large enough to accommodate 4 friends with large suitcases and a lot of clothes. The beds were comfortable and quite large for 2 people. The only thing I'd add is a couple of coat hangers, perhaps next to the door, so that the wardrobe can be used to hang other things. Large bathroom with enough shelves and space for everything; - Staff was very helpful: provided additional blankets on the spot when we asked, booked us a private car to JFK, printed out documents for us.
The location of the hotel was perfect as I wanted close proximity to Union Square. The staff was helpful and accommodating on every request. We also really enjoyed dinner at the restaurant. Excellent food and service. I would definitely go back.
Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. Location was good and close to where we wanted to be.
Room temp. The room was VERY hot (77 deg F) with no effective way to cool the room. A/C didn't appear to work. Since it was late Autumn, A/C may have been turned off, but it limited the ability to make the room comfortable.
Location is great. Tiny and basic hotel but had everything we needed
Location Team Privacy
breakfast so poor
Convenience of location to Chelsea where our daughter resides & to Madison Sq. Garden to watch the Rangers!
Shower temp. was hard to control, very sensitive. The bedframe stuck out so you would constantly be running into the frame.
The location and the restaurant
At the 4th floor , no window in the room only a small small window in 5 m in height. Poor furniture
the hotel is conveniently positioned for the subway and union square. good bar and comfortable bed with good quality linen. good wifi.
check in was onerous and ineffecient. told that they couldnt reimburse the original deposit so we could pay with another card and then said our card was declined. only after we had rung uk amex to check did they suddenly realise it had gone through! the rooms are dark and narrow with almost no closet space whatsoever. strange polyester curtains that didnt draw and nylon shower curtain. definitely not what would be expected of a relatively newly refurbed boutique hotel.
It was clean. Some of the staff was helpful. Not all the location, it was right around the corner from my conference. It was close to the empire state building and even closer to Union Square
You have to ask for ice. which means you have to tip for ice. There is one hook in the bathroom, no vanity and no place to put anything. our room was oddly shaped and only had one bedside table, so one of us had no place to set a drink. the lights work with the door key, we wanted to keep one bathroom light on but had to leave them all off or all on and could turn a few off. that left 3 lights on in the sleeping room so we unpluged lights to get them to go off. We checked in around 6:30 pm and asked the front desk for a list of restaurants for dinner and breakfast (there isn't any info in the room) and were offered their Korean restaurant for dinner and told to ask in the morning for breakfast choices. Although other staff during our stay were helpful.
5 day trip to NYC. Stayed at hotel verite which was in a great location. Close to uptown and downtown with some great shops and restaurants nearby. Staff really friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant in the hotel but we didn't use them. Looked good though. Altogether a really good apor
Room was really big for 4 of us. Large sitting room nd annexe room. Only downside was the lack of day light. There was a window but it looked out onto a wall a foot away so no direct daylight at all although at least you could open a window. Also quite noisy from subway under hotel but presumably in NYC it's quite hard to find a quiet hotel. Road outside hotel really dirty!
Friendly staff but not able to improve situation
Front side walk had grease and trash from garbage pick up that you had to w walk in, staff said not their responsible. No window in room, real issue in the event of a fire. Room was 77 degrees F, staff said they were in heating mode, offered a fan, did switch to cooling after much insistence. Clock did not work. No bath mat. Can't control room temp. only by floor.
The location is excellent, the staff is very nice, the room was lovely!
slight noise, you could hear neighbors.
Within Chelsea, Greenwich Village, Soho, Union Square, Flat iron, new Highline Park, Chelsea Market, etc! Loved the bar resto Barn Joo attached to the hotel and their $1 oysters (plus the 20% discount if you stay at the hotel). Comfortable room, very clean. Shuttle car service (door-to-door) from hotel to Airport (LGA). Staff went above and beyond!! We really enjoyed our stay here. Would definitely stay here again.
Nothing liked everything!
The Verite was located near great restaurants and shopping. The employees were always very friendly and helpful. The rooms and hotel were extremely clean and welcoming.
The room was oddly shaped and you could just make it by the corner of the bed without hitting the wall. At two in the morning you always hit the wall. The wall was also patched but just screwed in and not painted or covered. It looked tacky. For the amount of money charged this should have been fixed.
Location Shower Ease of Check-in and Check-out
AC did not work- they had a fan in the room No windows- that was odd Really strange light system
Room was spacious. Bathroom clean.
Sounded like we were on top of the subway. Carpet a little dirty . Not my style of decor.
Staffs are very friendly Rooms are clean
