Nice staff. We arrives 2 hours before check-in time and the room was ready for us. Location was great. Walking distance from downtown
Wifi was a bit slow
Location, comfort, good wifi, great shower
Upon arrival after a long flight we didn't think the receptionist Christina was the friendliest person around and she wasn't very helpful throughout our stay but all the other guys, Greg for sure, were great.
No tea making facilities, the minibar food was old and dusty , was just a bit shabby overall
modern look throughout,. Squeaky bed but comfortable otherwise
bathroom did not close. a.c. did not work, fan only, .
No air conditioning

* Closeness to center of city * Friendly staff
* No Air conditioning * No Laundry * Wi-Fi unavailable in our room had to go down to foyer to use internet
One of the staff turned out to be a great singer
Walls between rooms allows noise
If you like the movie you love this hotel too. Great locations; can walk from Union Sq., good restraunts for breakfast and lunch, and cheaper public garage nearby. Classic but clean room.
No Vertigo...Expected to watch the Hitchcock's masterpiece in my room, but I couldn't. If this hotel name came from the movie, they should put it on the air for their guests.
nice location .like the decoration superb quality service
the carpet has a mildew odor
The staff very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.Hotel room was very clean and had a great fan to cool the room at night, there was 4 of us in one room. The business hub, use of PC and Printer, was invaluable for us as I had flights to book for LA. Location was short walk from Union Square, Chinatown,Macys for the hop on bus tours and cable car. Vertigo was a good base, central to the places we wanted to be.
I expected a roof top pool as this was displayed on the website but when we got there we were disappointed to discover they don't actually have one.
initial welcome very good. easy to find. convenient location
Second time staying at Hotel Vertigo - love the comfy beds, rainhead shower, free wifi, and fun modern decor. Well situated within walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown, and plenty of great restaurants and coffee shops (Sweet Woodruff, Olea, MyMy)
It is an older building so could hear our upstairs neighbors walking around one morning, but weren't bothered by noises on the other two days (perhaps the noisy neighbors were especially heavy footed?)
Helpful front desk service
Toilets back up and don't always flush Very dark rooms with no natural light or ventilation Toilet paper extremely rough Very few TV channels Wifi unreliable
Quirky decor, friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms. Would definitely stay here again.
Be careful of extra taxes - this added another $50 a night! You wouldn't be allowed this false advertising of price in Australia!!
My rental car was broken into across the street. No one recommended that we park in a garage. When we approached the gentleman behind the text he just looked annoyed that he had to give us the information to the police department. We were hassled for late check out by another gentleman and told " we don't advise people to park across the street". I am a first time visitor to San Francisco-- I had no idea! When said "can we park are car across the street--someone should have said no this is a horrible area instead of " yes, but get it before 6am when street cleaning comes. Total nightmare!
Bathroom wa nice
Friendly welcome - I left my bags first thing in the morning when I arrived on the early flight and the receptionist was very accommodating. Very comfortable bed - huge room even though I only went for queen size. Lovely shower and bathroom, quiet, felt safe and nice. Very helpful that there is a computer with a printer so you can print any boarding passes for flights etc. A really wonderful stay, would recommend highly.
The street the hotel is on is nice but one street over and you're in the tenderloin district which was a bit dodgy - lots of people hanging around. Not too threatening but worth bearing in mind if you're walking from the Civic Centre BART stop...
Great location, fun decor, and added to a great trip. Staff was helpful and courtious. Look forward to coming back.
No air conditioner in the hotel. This needs to be posted on the website.
Location was great. The staff was very friendly. Nice and clean
Overall the hotel is very comfortable. Only the pillows are a bit stiff.
Cool design, clean rooms.
Thin walls so a loud neighbour may be a problem (I was lucky on both nights).
Staff was nice, rooms were nice. When we had an issue with one room they moved us right away.
When I left an item in my room after check out, it took multiple calls, then finally an email to the manager and several days before my item was finally tracked down and sent to me. They said they didn't have it at first, but only after threat to give them negative reviews they found it.
