This is a hotel that's over 100 year old and done very much in the Italian style. The lobby is old world beautiful with a lovely restaurant and bar. I asked for a quiet room and they have ones in the interior of the hotel so you don't hear the traffic and cable car bells on Union Square. The room was very attractive but had one slight flaw... We noticed a pitch in the floor going towards the bed but the room was caropeted so it wasn't an issue there. However, I hadn't noticed tha the pitch continued into the bathroom. When I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom I turned towards the toilet to the left of the tub which is straight ahead when you go in, and apparently stepped just right on the pitch in the floor to take a header into the bathtub. The staff was naturally concerned however the manager reminded me that the hotel is over 100 years old. A little disconcerting although they did offer me medical attention.

Bed was super comfortable, if you stay in a room not on the street it is really quiet. The $18 administrative fee, the fact that the booking rate did not match the rate provided at the hotel. The internet sucks.

The staff friendly and efficient, location is outstanding; central, with lots of shopping and all types of restaurants and cafes nearby. It is easy to get to other neighbourhoods by either walking, public transport or taxis. The hotel restaurant does not provide tables for solo travellers which is unusual these days. You can eat at the bar, but if you prefer to sit at a table you need to go elsewhere. This is very disappointing and as a result I ate and entertained elsewhere.

It is the best location to close to shopping, show, restaurants & other event location. Our room was very small, carpets are old, a bit run down and dirty. My reservations guaranteed to sleep 2 grown ups & kids under 17. It was already too tight for just 2 people.

Good wifi (room #726) Efficient front desk for check in and out Room had everything I needed, including a safe large enough for my laptop Bring your earplugs - the paper thin walls mean that you are forced to listen in on phone calls in your neighboring room + wake up to people chatting in the corridor

Shower curtain rods hung poorly almost in the middle of the shower. The shower curtain slimes/rubs against you constantly which is very annoying. Old style window a/c and heat. No digital temperature control. Woke up freezing three nights.
