The staff was so helpful and friendly. The dinner in the ebbit room was delicious! Rooms were clean and beautifully decorated.
Could have different choices for breakfast each day. Outdoor shower and patio could be updated.
Charming place. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location
The Virginia hotel was a huge disappointment!!!!!!!!! alot of money wasted!!!! they just kept moving us around I will never go back there again
Great Victorian Atmosphere. Close to everything. Excellent service and staff very helpful. Valet service very helpful. Beach service amazing, didn't have to lug own chairs, towels, umbrellas, etc. No waiting for room service, came promptly. Can't say enough good things. Wonderful experience!
Didn't have any meals there, so can't personally comment on the Ebbitt Room. I did avoid it because of some negative reviews and because we wanted a nice quiet place to celebrate a birthday.
Perfect for me & anyone who prefers an understated elegant hotel where you will be treated well & every request is handled promptly & efficiently. Continental breakfast on the veranda was perfect & so were drinks in the evening. Lovely spot to linger & enjoy.
Room was a tad slow to get cooled down some nights, but that was a minor issue. Also, a little awkward knowing whether to tip or not for valet v. breakfast food tray delivery, etc.
Staff were very friendly. It was very clean and beautiful. It is a very convenient location.
We got the list of TV channels delivered to our door the last night of our 6 day visit. It would have been nice to have other DVDs to choose from as well as the ones we saw. We also had difficulty with working the TV and DVD player. The restaurant was so expensive we decided not to eat there.
A rest from antiques everywhere! GREAT location. Comfy beds, with two nice chairs and table. Breakfast delivered to room. Lovely outside porch with great seating. Nice bar and restaurant. Bedroom decor was lovely.
No parking at the hotel - valet only.
Hospitality of staff. Excellent service and food in Ebbit Room. Good location.
Walking up the stairs.
Was not clear whether the candy in the room was complimentary (would have been a nice touch) or charge per container.
the room was very small and the bathroom tub did not drain properly.
Very clean place that always smelled good. The employees were very knowledgable and friendly.
Shower was piercing. Even if I turned down the water pressure it was too painful to put my face under the shower head.
We booked using Booking.com. After our arrival to Cape May, we received a phone call, telling us that there were no room at the Virginia Hotel and we have been relocated to a sister property across the street. The room was tiny, but clean. No closets. There was an additional room, connecting the bedroom and bathroom, that had a tiny table, old dinette chairs, and a plastic shelving unit that held a old microwave, save and Keurig coffee machine. The house is poorly insulated. Every person who entered the building and climbed the stairs could be heard and guests were going in and out all night long. Additionally, a guest on our floor started yelling at family members in her room and despite numerous complaints to management on duty, little was done. Frankly there was not much to like, besides the location.
This was a first visit to Cape May and found the location very convenient to the beach and businesses. Staff was friendly.
Of all miserable things...the mattress was as hard as a rock. Very disappointed that this one amenity was just awful. People sleep in hotels...do not scrimp on a comfortable mattress...especially for the price of this property. Would not come back for this one reason alone. Also disappointed that other amenities enjoyed at other properties was missing...complimentary water...snacks..and a microwave. Simple little things mean a lot. Felt nickled and dimed all the way to the tip envelopes. No parking. You are on your own unless you use the valet. OK for off season but probably an issue in summer. I am not usually a complainer but I didn't feel like we got our money's worth.
We enjoyed the Ebbitt Room, was just wonderful and all of the employes were so attentive.
Our room had a big hole in the carpet, the sofa had stains all over it and some of the furniture was very shotty looking, for the price that you pay! definitely need a new decorator!
Love the ambiance and the location. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The thermostat to was broken in our room. It made it difficult to sleep. Luckily the next day maintenance was able to fix it.
We had a room on the ground floor, close to the kitchen. We could hear noises out of the kitchen but it got quiet at night. However, there was a loud fan running in the hotel itself or the neighboring building throughout the night. The receptionists told us they would take care of it which they never did. In addition, they seemed annoyed by the request. Not an appropriate way of handling a complaint of this kind for a hotel with this reputation and standard.
A wonderful B&B and a delightful host and hostess.
Our stay at the Virginia Hotel was a great experience. We enjoyed good hospitality, very nice accommodations, and true Cape May charm. We would definitely consider returning in the future.
Restaurant was beautiful, but a little pricey for our taste. That said, there were many other choices within walking distance.
The restaurant closed mon & tues because of the season
Comfort, deck at room. shower, staff
TV did not work.Direct TV. Could only get 1 channel.
Location was great. Excellent food and very good service. Bed was very comfortable and maid service was very good.
The millipede running across my towel in the bathroom freaked me out. Also, the TV was "cranky." Climbing three flights of stairs to reach our 3rd floor room was challenging
Wonderful location. Convenient, within walking, to beach, shops and restaurants.
