Staff was very accommodating !
Room was not ready until after dinner due to many late check outs.
The room and the excellent view. Attentive staff. Stylish/glam guest room. 24-hour room service with good food. Easy access off Lakeshore Dr.
When the kitchen got "slammed" (lots of orders into restaurant), we had to wait 90 minutes for our room service order to arrive. The server was apologetic and comped our meal, which made up for it.
View, good location for Navy pier and downtown
Too noisy from the various ongoing functions and evening bar area
very good location, perfectly positioned for visiting the city, very near the Pier, nice stuff
The location was excellent, right across from navy pier and the beach. Nice factories on the 7 floor pool and work out room.
The room are very small, the beds a a full size rather than queen and would not give us a roll away. We has a very disturbing check in. And we switches room 3 times. No free wii fi connection in the rooms only in the lobby. Parking was extremely expensive- found a place 2 block away at a much reasonable price. Not a family type of hotel, the hotel room card say it all. This place is tailored for the young professional looking for a night life kind of spot.
Music too loud in elevator. Check-in too close to noisy bar---it was too hard to hear.
Location and staff The young lady concierge was amazing!
A little expensive and paid internet at the room.
The location was great, the view of either city or lake front is breath taking. Although it is not much of a "family" hotel, the cleanliness makes up for it, and the convenience of the location to all tourists sights.
I had a great time so I'm a bit bias. I think it was overall, great! Again, a friendlier family room would have been AWESOME!! But, you can't have everything.
Clean, slick design - almost too slick, updated interior.Comfortable beds.
I now know I prefer smaller, more personal hotels like Kimpton's Allegro. Large hotels like the W are impersonal and lack the extras of smaller hotels.
The room and view where great.
What I disliked about the hotel is the loud music in the lobby. I had to leave a few times because I could not hear my friend. I had dinner at the hotel, an open concept and a mistake, and once again I had to leave because of the loudness. Food was not worth the money at all. Staff are fine however I felt there were more concern socializing, well the female at the restaurant did. I had to look for the menu myself. No coffee machine in the hotel rooms but they offer "coffee" in the lobby for free. That coffee was only dirty water. Starbucks is just down the street.
Lovely rooms, comfortable beds and close to the lake / Michigan Avenue.
Construction noise from room next door, power went out in our room when we were trying to pack up and leave on our last day, wifi is $14.95 per day for only 3 devices (inadequate and expensive for 2 people with work / personal devices), lobby has free wifi but too noisy for work / calls, business centre charges and the printer did not work. I travel to Chicago almost every year and there are much nicer (and better value) places to stay.
Loved the view and the comfortable beds.
Didn't know that there would be complimentary coffee in the morning in the lobby because it wasn't advertised, so I spent $20 on a pot of coffee from room service with tip.
location was good and staff were nice
hotel itself was poor -- there was wall damage in our room for the price you expect a proper vanity and if you have a rain shower you need jets to get clean --also for the price the shower and tub should be separate and the bathroom should have proper door and be a defined space --- and the television stations and quality were not good -- not good choice and reception BAD -- and they CHARGED for WIFI service -- that should be a free service -- would NEVER recommend or stay here or any W property again - and the TECHNO music in the lobby was too loud and annoying -- oh and linens were not top rate. the down comforters should come standard and the beds were too hard --- just really not satisfied and I have stayed at many properties world wide as I have traveled extensively for business ---
Very nice staff and outstanding design after the renovation. Amazing location too.
The way I was nickeled-and-dimed for little things that, because of what we paid for the room, I would have thought would be free, or at least much cheaper. I know this was no Holiday Inn, but to charge $15 a day for wifi access, and a WHOPPING $65 a day to park is pretty outrageous. To boot, the televisions signal was messed up during our entire stay, so we had to watch movies on my iPad.
Dinner for 4 was awful. Sauce was overcooked and service was poor. Bartenders before dinner were slow and unfriendly -- they appeared miserable! Valet parking was a disaster -- completely disorganized. Would not stay here again.
I loved my room the view was amazing the shower king bed etc was great the staff was excellent
The parking price was terrible that's it $63.00 a night extremely high!!!
Rooms are newly renovated. Big windows,Cool design. Location awesome overlooking lake and could watch fireworks from our room at navy pier on 21st floor. Lots close by especially shopping and great food. Loved yolk for breakfast and Emilio's tapas nearby great
Felt staff was not friendly. Reception. Bar etc Manager Sasha at Current-Italian restaurant didn't like I was bringing take out to the room. They were full July 4th and we have a small Baby and we didn't want the room food. He shoed a server away who was helping me. Customer service not good Also in rooms could of been cleaner. You found different hairs around the room and behind the head board where the strip lighting lots of hair. Cleaning could of concentrated more in detailed cleaning. Room could of been cleaner
We like the location, the views of the lake and the proximity to Navy Pier.
I made the reservation on my phone while entering the city. When we arrived to check in they did not have our reservation yet. We spent 30.00 dollars at the bar waiting for our reservation to appear. After about 45 minutes it did appear and we checked in. We were given 2 free drink tickets, which was nice. I think when you book with a 3rd party company that the reservation should go right to the hotel so woolen don't have to wait. Also, the 2 double beds were disappointing, very small and not very comfortable. For 200.00 a night I would expect better quality and size of bed. Lastly, the water pressure was awful. We had a nice big rain shower head but water pressure wasn't strong enough to get the full results of the that shower head.
Reception area very overcrowded at check in, reception staff not as helpful as could be when trying to check in at SPF desk was told busy even though doing nothing and had to check in at other busy reception Also bar area has changed since our last stay there used to be a DG which was a nice touch now just looped music not as happening as once was
Good views from room and lobby , bell boy attentive when dropping off luggage, very clean hotel with great location
When first arrived at 5am more than two hours after checking in time our room was not ready and the reception staff we're very unhelpful and very rude constantly dealing with other trivial issues from other staff members or guest rather than resolving the fact we had too wait after a long delayed flight. Altogether what would prevent me from booking this hotel again is the inadequacy of it's staff who need retraining.
The location was nice. Rooms were clean
Not really very kid friendly
Great vibe and look. Excellent location to Navy Pier, beach and Michigan Avenue
Bedding could be softer.
The Wlakeshore hotel is located in the Magnificient Mile area, really close to the lake. The rooms were nice and the beds, comfortable.
I don't recommend this hotel!!! I was there between 9-13 June-2014. The hotel is doing a renovation so I woke up everyday with the noise of drills and hammers (very annoying). Also, during the night there was a buzz whose origin I have never known ( Maybe the AC of other room...?) anyway it was difficult to sleep. No wifi in the room. You must pay almost $15 per day if you want to use internet connection. The breakfast is not included and the price they offer is abusive from my point of view, even more so when you keep in mind that I have paid more than $400 per night!.
A room for 6 was booked on booking.com. When we checked in I said there were six of us. When we got to the room there was no where for my two children to sleep. When I called the front desk, they said we can't have six in a room, it's a fire hazard. I said so what do I do? I have four children and booked a room accordingly for six. They said you will need to get a second room at $299 a night. I unfortunately did a fair amount of complaining to different people and they each did a little to make it better. Overall, do not stay here. It's not terribly clean in the rooms and not set up to accommodate families.
Location is in a prime spot!
Did not like that fact that we had to wait in the lobby for almost 2 hours for a room that should have been ready at check in time! It was a total inconvenience for us considering it made us late on our plans for that night!
