We received an upgrade on our original reservation and Nelson at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. The location was the main reason for staying here, but we enjoyed the hotel, the park, the market and access to shpos, bars in the area. We would return for another stay. The bathtub was a little small and shallow. The room service sign for the door was difficut to decipher which side was which. Glassware in room was dirty. I had to wash all of it before using. Room could use some updating. We were told the hotel would be remodeled in the spring.

I'd mentioned that we were celebrating our first anniversary, and we found a tray of most delicious treats, sparkling water, and a "happy anniversary" card awaiting us when we arrived in the most incredibly awesome room, which had a lovely view of Union Square. A perfect experience!

I stayed at the W because of its proximity to my college reunion events and the reviews I had read online, as I am picky about hotels. In fact, several classmates stayed there as well. The staff was beyond accommodating, courteous and professional. It was clear their job was to make my stay comfortable in every way, and I was upgraded upon check-in with my membership card. The amenities were wonderful; luxurious and perfectly clean rooms, great after-hours bar and nightclub. I will stay at the W every visit to NY now, regardless of proximity to my intended events. Well worth the price, especially with the deal I madeonline with booking.com (spent nearly $100 less than my friends). Happy to recommend the W to friends and strangers alike. No disappointment there. Nothing negative at all. I will now stay at the W every time I visit.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The location is ideal for any New York City destination due to it's proximity to multiple subway lines at Union Square. The neighborhood has numerous stores so that you can pick up any item you may need without spending a fortune. Finally, the hotel has a modern and hip vibe and a wonderful lounge for hanging out with friends or having a drink before an evening out.

I stayed here for my wedding. Some of the staff were fantastic. For example, we received complimentary champagne and dessert which I shared with my bridesmaids the night before my wedding. That was fantastic!! For how much The w Hotel charges per night, I expected better service from staff members. I'm not a type-A person and am usually very laid back, so it takes a lot to get me upset, but the staff were not very responsive to calls. Sometimes it took 2-3 calls before someone would respond and bring up what we needed.

The bed was very comfortable, the room spacious and clean and the response to requests was fast and efficient. My room was not ready on arrival although I arrived at the specified check- in time. The rooms were dull and uninteresting with little natural light, and traffic noise was audible even from the 17th floor. The bathroom toiletries were underwhelming for a hotel of this price range. (No shower cap, no cotton wool, etc.) There was nowhere to sit in reception/lobby, and the one small bar adjacent to the lobby was always full. (There is a basement bar but it's currently under refurbishment). Although there appeared to be doormen, they did not open the door for us. We also had to flag our own taxis. An invalid 'honour bar' charge was added to several of our bills and had to be rectified. Bottled water in the room was charged at $9 (cost $1.50 in the shop next door). Overall, quite disappointing from a 'design' point of view and not great value either.

The location is superb-We had our room upgraded to a larger room and higher floor after a small problem in checking in. Very gracious about the problem. The concierge service was very helpful-available at all times. The public areas are very stylish. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Only issue-I think the decor in the rooms is a little tired- a new paint job would be good.

Very comfortable bed in a beautifully decorated room, very pleasant and helpful staff. Also liked the Acura car service. A coffee machine in the room would have been appreciated.

The hotel was so convenient as I was bringing my son back to school. The room was very comfortable and the hotel and staff were attentive to all of my needs even as we were making it through Hurricane Irene. I had alot of difficulty connecting to the wi-fi in the room despite repeated attempts. I wasn't sure if this was related to the hurricane. I then went to the business center and I was a bit surprised to find out there was a charge to access the internet and very expensive in my mind.
