Shabby rooms and poor service - I will not be staying there again.
The curtains in my room were damaged and would not close fully. The first night, a handyman pinned them together to keep them closed. The next morning I reminded front desk staff that they curtains would need fixing during the day. Despite two requests to front desk, they were never fixed, nor even pinned together again. I had to push an armchair against the curtains to keep them closed for the night, and still they gaped and therefore let in light from 5am.
I intended to advise front desk of my disappointment about this on checkout, but not once was I asked how my stay was. On the previous occasions when I had asked for the fix, nobody apologised. The staff seem disinterested in their guests.
I was then charged for internet after checkout, despite it being included on my rate. The process of charging my credit card was a mess too, with multiple different charges for random amounts put through and not correlating directly to charges on the receipt, making it complicated to reconcile expenses.
Right on Union Square, the W is convenient for East Village and businesses on Broadway.
The bed was comfortable too.
