No lighted 5X makeup mirror in bathroom
Loved the location, the bar, we had lunch at the bar and loved the food, our room was modern and comfortable. The closet light was neon and just all the details in the room seemed to be ultra modern, but set up for the traveler.
We had trouble finding it- drove right by it even when we knew it had to be there- then we figured out that we had to come in on Howard- not 3rd- to see where to check-in.
Beautiful hotel ,we really enjoyed the property, its location its design and its facilities. Bellmen are good.
The staff barely fulfilled the standards of a service expected in this category of hotel. Most of the guest agents at the front desk were not smily, not very cheerful and they definitely not acknowledge you when you come over to them.
Staff were extremely polite and accommodating! As a solo traveler looking for a "staycation" in my city the W was perfect. I was able to enjoy drinks at an upscale bar while taking advantage of the services at Bliss Spa-- it felt like I was in 10 different places and I never left the comforts of the building! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a great view of the city from the 24th floor. Fun place to have local company or chat with visitors from around the world. Definitely recommend!
The main room was very "homey" which was comforting but I expected something a bit more upscale (like the bathroom) considering the beautiful modern layout throughout the building- maybe just not my style but it was still clean and comfortable and I couldn't ask for more!
location bar staff
i ended up in a ex-smoker room. if i pay $500 a night, I don't want do pay for internet additionally.
I booked this hotel for an interior designer's family from China. They enjoyed the interior decorations of this hotel.
I don't know if it was an accident. My friend was mistakenly charged for parking fee while he even had no car. I had to call the hotel manager for cancelling of this fee because my friend could not catch English well.
$660/night seems over priced for the room
Extremely dirty room. Very small for 3 of us.
Everything was nice and clean, staff was fantastic. Room service was delicous, staff was very eager to help and tend to needs.
Forgot one of my request when ordering room service but it's fine
welcoming and helpful staff good food funky decor lovely flowers on the tables in the cafe
no coffee machine in the room
The W stands for Whatever/Whenever and there is even a button on the phone for that so you can call and ask for whatever you like. So at 3am if you want chicken wings and rubbers then that's what you get...
The W button does not provide alcohol after 2am or strippers but hey, I was sold with the chicken wings!
the location and the view. We've been upgraded to higher level, the view is nice and the room is very comfortable
Very very noisy lobby and slow check in
The room had a door to another room, and for several times the guests of this room were really loud and trying to open this door in the middle of the night. It might be worth it to explain to the guests that they will see this door but should not try to open, as there will be guests at this other room.
staff's upgrade was great.
noise in the morning at 7 a.m. (some whirring sound.)
No ability to even crack a window open even slightly.
Decoration and location was super close to key things
Slightly outdated rooms
The hotel is nice and very clean. The room was comfortable and accommodated my family (2 adults + 2 young kids). We had dinner once at the hotel and the food was very good.
everything about this hotel will cost you money. $55 over night parking, $15 internet for the day........ The fitness center was not working and we really missed a swimming pool. My kids love it. Our next time in SF will be in another hotel. If my down points are not super important for you, you will love this hotel...... Just not for my family at the moment.
The desk staff was awesome. Very accommodating. They helped us mail a letter even though we did not have an envelope or postage. We love the W.
The bar closed to early and the valet is way too expensive. One of our guests decided to not stay because the valet was too expensive.
The hotel was hip and trendy. Really beautiful people populated the lobby. The room was cozy and had everything you needed.
The room was a little snug for a W. The hotel was near all the museums, but it was a little walk to anything else.
Hotel room was quiet. Hotel was close to the conference center (across the street) so it was very convenient.
For the price of the room you would think they could give you free wifi!
I was doing a local Call to a direct San Francisco Number (not mobile) for roughly 50mins and was initially charged USD 124 !! Given that these numbers are generally free and we live in 2014 where calling is like a commodity, I was very upset about this charge. Also the w hotel is charging for 24hrs WIFI which I accept though would have a nice touch to pass on this charge (again some argue, having WIFI is like water and like a human right) --- anyway, W hotel redcued the telephone charge by 50% but still, being charge USD 62 for a local number is a complete rip off.
Location was nearby Downtown nightlife! There wasn't too much walking between places we went, with plenty of variety, from hookah and Indian food to upscale dancing, a hipster speakeasy and an Irish pub. And there's plenty more we didn't get to see...
"Spectacular" room had excellent view. Nice window seat. Starbucks nearby.
Parking extortionately expensive ($64 per night). Breakfast very expensive ($64 for two). Pretentious decor.
Gym was under construction. The temporary setup was a joke. I regretted having picked the hotel on the basis that I wanted to use a fully equipped gym on my trip. No information was given when I booked the hotel. Not good!
We loved the way the room was designed. Also, being able to sit and snuggle up while enjoying the view was awesome.
We didn't like the fact that we had neighbors that called in a noise complaint on us and we weren't even loud. Maybe it's because the walls are thin or it could have been that they were an older couple that picked the wrong hotel to stay at considering its a party-type hotel catering to a younger crowd.
