“ The location was simply un-beatable! The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and well appointed, and i would guess recently refurbished! The hotel itself is well maintained and has everything that you could need or want during a trip to Waikiki! Loved it! ”

Fast check-in, nice room, two balconies, great views, friendly staff! Cost to park at hotel, but it's on par with many hotels in the area. Also I could hear the occupants in the room next door a little bit, but it wasn't unbearable.

The staff was very cute! the water stayed good and hot! The Shower massage and I got really acquainted!! 2 Balconies.... The rust around the mirror in the bathroom. Not really good lighting for reading, but I didnt read...

The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was close to all the places I wanted to go. I was first assigned to a room that had been taken by other guests ... I was shocked to see luggage and belongings of someone else when I first entered the room. Of course, another room was given after I went back to the reception. Other than that, I had a pleasant stay.

Some staff were helpful but not all. I was extremely disappointed with this hotel room. The carpet was dirty, cupboard doors falling off, paint peeling from the walls, holes in the wall from outside. The air conditioner was noisy and inefficent making it impossible to sleep with it on at night. There were holes in the sheets and they were not changed for the duration of our stay. The enamel surface on the bath tub was severely worn and left me in doubt that it could be cleaned thoroughly. I went to get ice and the ice machine was broken. I went to do laundry but the soap dispenser were all empty.

The rooms were clean and there were two balconies so that was nice. It was also in a great location and good value for the price paid. There's an abc store in the lobby so that was very convenient. I booked a taxi cab for the airport the night before with the receptionist but he never booked it. The following morning, the taxi cab never came so I had to ask the receptionist again. Other than that, I had a pleasant stay.

It was a dump! This is about a 1 star hotel. The lobby is beautiful but the rooms are old & decrepid. Also because we bought our rooms thru booking.com we didn't get free breakfasts like everyone else. Would never recommend this hotel.

The receptionist at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The location is away from the main waikiki beach - so it less busy. The valet parking is on site - very convenient for us. We were put off by the unpleasant odour at the reception - perhaps its the Christmas fir tree and unchanged cushion covers at the lobby but it was also present in our room! We really want to change hotels. But we decide to stick to it, got some air freshner from the reception and let the air-condition runs for a while. Later in the evening it gets better. Subsequent stays (we were there for 5 nites) were better. We discovered that the unpleasant odour probably comes from the shower screen and tub mat which were probably not sunned thoroughly. The room, sheets and towels were very clean and fresh smelling.

I loved everything about my stay at the Waikiki Gateway Hotel. Staff were amazing, the room was clean and very comfortable and I would definately stay here again and recommend it to anyone I knew who was travelling.
