Boutique personal feel rooftop terrace - great view nice to be by museums on Upper East Side
Street noise in morning
The carpet was filthy! I don't think it had ever been cleaned. The window blinds were broken. Then I discovered a two inch injured roach limping along. I was more concerned about what had attacked the roach. When I pointed this out to management, they argued that that is what happens when I am on the top floor and, after all, I did want a room with a bathtub. I had no idea that i had to choose between a bathtub or a filthy room with vermin. I have photos as proof to this disaster of a room. I will never stay there again.
-good location for our purposes -large bathroom
-very loud window AC, hard to regulate temperature in room -didn't know about roof top bar! -not enough towels- asked for more, got them, but next morning extra set was gone (and we hung them up!) -bathroom was large (great) but could have used an extra counter or chair to put stuff on (no where to put toiletries etc.)
Roomm, coffee, attractive facility
Location, staff, neighborhood, shower
Old mattress, window a/c, small room, broken phone, bent closet door,
location ,staff ...all great ...and our dogs were happy too!
This area of Madison Avenue is very "in". You get the feeling you are among the hip New York set. I wouldnt class it as a touristy area but great for people watching. The Hotel is pretty old with beautiful original wood finishes in the room but with a very attractive coffee lounge contrasting the modern on the mezzanine level. Friendly staff.
Very pricey at the time I stayed. I never realised about the rooftop bar!! Nobody told me!!
The room was spacious and clean.
The mattress seems to be past it's prime and very saggy on the side.
prior to seeing my bank statement with a charge that was added after I signed my bill, we did love the location, our room, the rooftop deck, and thought, value for the money-
I'm in the middle of trying to determine why I was charged an extra $53 on my bill- what I signed for at check out did not reflect the same amount on my bank statement- so far no one has returned my call to resolve this.If it's not resolved, then we certainly will not return to the hotel.
Wifi not working in the room. Because there is no restaurant, would be great to offer fruit and danish with the coffee in the morning for those who don't want big breakfasts. And honestly, Sara Beth's doesn't cut it anymore - poor service, food not great, and expensive.
Staff were wonderful. Room was huge (room 415) with separate living area. Beautifully renovated bathroom. Room was on Madison Avenue with lovely view, and was quiet, limited street noise. Penthouse rooftop deck is amazing - huge area with lovely flower pots, tables and chairs, sun umbrellas, fantastic views to Central Park and Jacqui Kennedy reservoir. Great upper east location with lots of interesting eating places next door and nearby. Would definitely recommend and would love to return.
It is a charming hotel. Loved the location don't the staff.
The road noise is bad if you are in the Madison Ave side on a lower floor.
Location is good. Friendly employees.
Absence of slippers in the rooms. Carpets are dated and it doesn't seem clean.
Very close to Central Park Staff very helpful Clean beds and bathroom Room are large for a New York hotel
Rooms were stuffy and not upgraded
Hotel position in NYC, Comfortable environment Lovely friendly staff.
Too heavy a chair at the dressing table! Rather Noisy at the front of the hotel, especially as I was unable to close the window.
Location, near family Room was nice size Comfortable bedding Breakfast package Coffee availability Quiet Roof-top area
Challenging shower control
We loved this hotel! It was very clean, staff were friendly, and the breakfast (next door at SaraBeth's) was amazing! We also absolutely loved the rooftop lounge area. Can't wait to visit nyc again and stay at Hotel Wales!
Location. Comfortable bed.
Shopworn. Old dirty carpet. Tiny room. Misrepresented on webpage.
Location is great for access to Central Park one block away and Museum mile. Good restaurants in the neighborhood. Sara Beth's with access from inside the hotel. Rooftop sitting area. Has a second floor mezzanine level with a conference room/lounge which is on the corner of the building with windows on two sides. Different sitting areas. Coffee/Tea available 24 hours a day. NYTimes early in the morning. Suites have 2 TV's. Like the use of down comforters with duvet covers. Good pillows. Spacious. Nice desk. Sofa. lighting good. I pod dock clock radio.
Wifi was very iffy. HiDef TV's are not enabled to receive HD. For a boutique hotel should have HD! Do not have enough copies of NYT in the lounge. Bathroom appears not to have any heat registers. Sink did not have glass shelf above in certain rooms. The radiator was very loud. Single glazing on windows. Street noise on Madison Avenue side is considerable. King bed had pillow top but the bed was not that comfortable. Am used to premium memory foam where there is no movement. This room did not have glassed in shower, just curtain. Seventh floor.Mad Ave. side
Lovely, charming and comfortable
Please do not use air freshener any where in hotel. It is not green and is terrible for the health of your guests, staff , and for the environment>
complicated shower fixtures.
comfortable bed, nice decor
room was small shower was hard to figure out no pool
The room was much to small to offer any real comfort !!
size of room resteraunt next door
