Not as refined and clean as I would expect a 4-star hotel to be.
bed was comfortable - room was big. had 2 Tv's and a nice couch. housekeeping was consistent. we would leave and when we returned the room was obviously serviced. I received good service from the hotel staff particularly from the restaurant. there was a mistake with my order and the allowed me to keep the wrong order and deliver to me room the correct order. they were incredibly gracious.
no mini refrigerator in room. on site hotel food was excessively expensive and incredibly poor. the food seemed pre made - and tasted that way. the sausage gravy was tasteless and the biscuits served were burned mini slider buns. 2 orders of breakfast $50. I then decided to have breakfast in the onsite Starbucks - between myself and my spouse the amount came to $25 and some change. I tipped with cash because i understad that service staff depend on their tips and often when a tip is left on a cc or debit card they have to wait. while travelling I make a point to tip in cash. there was an additional $5 added to my Starbucks tip. I specifically wrote a 0 with a / through it and as I was reviewing my online charges I see there was an additional $5 added. I wonder how many times this barista does this to travellers she feels unfairly doesnt tip. I am unsure if she saw me tip or not and why she chose to add what she felt was a fair tip but dealing with thibgs like that are nit worth the headache.
The morning breakfast buffet was good and offered a variety of hot and cold items. Staff in the restaurant went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant. The gentlemen that drove the transport van were also very pleasant and helpful. They offer free pick up from Reagan National AP and it is very close. The hotel is in a quiet location.
This hotel is isolated from shopping and eating establishments and everything closes very, very early. There is an onsite Starbucks but it closes at random times in the early afternoon. There is no food options in the hotel for evening dining except the bar with a very limit menu. You must rely on the hotels transportation to get to the metro and local shopping/eating places. The first 3 nights during our stay was very next to a family with very loud children. We requested a room change to a "Quiet Floor" and things improved. Ask for a designated quiet floor. Staff was not very attentive and I often heard them complaining about things. We purchased a 48 hour Big Bus Tour package and took a brochure from the hotel for our first days journey. The bus routes were incorrect as well as times and we wasted the first day trying to match the metro exits to the bus route. I was told the second day that the brochure was an old one and the routes had changed. When I returned to the hotel I removed all of the old brochures and told the desk clerk about my experience. I was told that they had new ones and showed me the box full of brochures. He said "I just haven't had time to put them out". This brochure was from June 2014 and 2 updated brochures had been printed since that one. I was not very happy that we wasted the first day. Room rate was 3 times, yes 3 times, their normal rate because they had an upcoming conference. I booked a room for 7 nights the first 3 nights before the conference but had to pay more.
The front desk was very delightful!
Three guests were going to a show at the Birchmere Music Hall and the location is 2.4 miles from the hotel. The shuttle driver refused to take us there. There were two shuttle vans out front and driver wasn't busy. I was very surprised! This is usually a service I get when traveling, especially when the hotel has the stars that indicate they want to spoil their guests. We were planning on giving the shuttle driver a huge tip, and instead had to call a cab. We had to wait for the cab and then we tipped the cab driver.

Rooms are clean, bathroom a bit small, but okay and well equipped. Very friendly staff, the parking garage is wide and spacious. There is a Starbuck inside the hotel, excellent. Breakfast buffet is very good too. The restaurant is noisy, to many tv screens, not something we are used to here in Europe and pretty disturbing when you want to have dinner.
We were on the 8th floor, without a decent view. They ask 21 dollar per night for parking, a bit steep imo
The location of the hotel is ideal for access to the DC metro and dining options. The front desk was very pleasant and helpful.
Shuttle service from the airport on the day of our arrival was very poor. The bus showed up more than an hour after calling the hotel for a pickup, the driver's attitude made it even worse. However, I must say my encounter with the other drivers was a redemption.
it was really hard during arriving and departing the hotel to find porter to help me carrtying my luggage ... when leaving the hotel the hotel bus driver helped me on that ... thanks for him

Friendliness of staff; everyone seemed genuinely happy working at Crowne. Bell staff very helpful with luggage and getting transportation.
Restaurants were very disappointing. One night, I tried the "pub" in the lobby: I wanted for 10 minutes for someone to sit me, then sat at the bar. It took another 10 minutes for the bartender to offer a menu and I finally had to get the order to go as it took another 20 minutes for my order (despite the fact that the person next to me, who ordered after me, received his order). On the last day, I went to the Veranda Cafe, where I had previously had a serviceable breakfast. BIG MISTAKE! It took 10 minutes for someone to take my order, didn't see anyone for another 20 minutes, so I canceled my order (a salad!). The manager was very contrite and asked if they could deliver it to my room. I agreed, as I had to pack. When the order came, I wasn't charged, but it was the WRONG salad. The effort seems to be there, but there's something lost in the execution. Regarding housekeeping, I had to tell them THREE times in one day that I did not want service (even with the sign on the door). The last day, housekeeping walked in after I told them "no thanks". They apologized and left immediately, but, again, there seems to be a communication issue with the staff.
Our server in the cafe was Youdit and she was amazing! She took the time to learn about us and our stay. She even stayed longer than needed on our last day to say goodbye. Youdit made our stay from good to excellent. She deserves due recognition for her efforts. She was definitely the highlight of our stay at Crowne Plaza. If only all staff at other hote were like her!

Above all I liked the staff crew; especially those in the restaurant. There were helpful, descent, and generous. The location of the hotel is good not far from Crystal City metro station which makes everywhere close to you. The rooms are fairly good and with nice bath tub. The shuttle drivers were mostly fine too. The hotel has a Starbucks coffee shop which was good for evening chats.
There was no safe boxes in the room. The TV was not working perfectly.
