The staff and water view of the Long Island sound. Food was great to!
The room faced the water. Windows open all night! Sound and smell of ocean gave us the best night sleep we hadn't had and was looking forward to.
No room service menu in room had to go looking for it.
location at the beach female staff reception clean and comfortable room
attitude and obvious lack of service of female staff bar restaurant and bar too expensive for value - no choice of tea shops are closed
Room quality was good.
Parking was difficult. This is a popular place for weddings; be prepared if you get there and find one is scheduled. Tough to get around resort without interfering, and... the continual party the night before meant little sleep.
The waiter at breakfast was outstanding. The staff at the massage were good. The pool and jacuzzi were very nice.
Overall the staff was unfriendly and not accommodating. The beds were uncomfortable.
The hotel sits right on the water, beautiful views of the long island sound. Great place to relax and unwind.
The only thing I didn't like, was the hotel itself seemed a bit outdated.
Rooms were clean and quiet. Even though we were in an adjoined room, we did not hear the people in the next room. The location of the resort is perfect. close to the casinos and quaint surrounding towns.
The spa was delightful! However sauna had mold in it and entire workout area needs thorough cleaning/disinfecting. It's in need of a thorough facelift.
The grounds were beautiful. We would like to come back in the summer so we can use the facilities.
That a continental breakfast didn't come with it. Wi-Fi did not work in parts of the room. You had to sit by the door to get reception.clock did not work because someone had stripped the wire.
lots of room and good food, if a Little expensive. Ideally suited to get into JFK within a couple of hours. very clean and helpful staff. nice pool too we liked it here.
Hard to dislike anything. its a big Hotel so do not expect cosy atmosphere.
We loved the feeling of elegance in the facility....it is an older hotel but the view and the ambiance was super. It was a relaxing get a way !!!!
Our first room they gave us had a bed that was very squeaky ....but, when we called to tell them, they immediately sent someone up to move the luggage and gave us a room with a view which was very nice.
The location was fabulous with the hotel having it's own beach as well as outdoor swimming pool. Beautiful grounds with plenty of room to not feel over-crowded - loved the split terraces. Also very spacious accommodation. Would highly recommend staying there.
Location and the beach.
They closed some of the restaurants and eliminated some entertainment without telling us.
The Spa is wonderful! The organization, food, amenities, pool, jacuzzi, view and service are superbs.
Valet. Free, not fast or reliable though. Better park yourself. My room was near some sort of services area. Truck rear beep by morning, (like garbage or construction). Noise of bottles being dispensed was also not so good.
location, very friendly staff, very clean room and facilities
No good meal options. restaurant expensive and breakfast is expensive and is meager
The location and the view are the real pros of this hotel. The hotel has its own private beach and provides bathing towels. For those who find the water too cold, there is also a swimming pool. Rooms are large.
Rates remain pretty high. The room (or was it the AC?) sometimes had a musty smell (unacceptable given the rates).
The area and view is breathtaking. Our 50th anniversary party was a great success with the hotel giving us a room, buffet dinner of good food and a small bar, a screen for our side show. They did not over charge as some hotels do. We had many different ages there and there was something for everyone. The Sun brunch is super.
Wedding music went very late and very loud. Some of my guests could not sleep. The hotel kept losing reservations (I had 8) and even had one married couple in two different rooms. They cheerfully straightened it out but it was odd.
Exactly what were envisioning for our brief New England getaway. Resort was quaint with beautiful views of the water. Our family really enjoyed the small beach front and kayaking. Very relaxing.
The breakfast buffet was pitiful. Service was frazzled and the food seemed thrown together from what was leftover from the day before. Not sure if it was because it was a weekday morning but regardless, we expected more especially for the price. One more negative - the outside patio was not open for breakfast which seems silly given the picturesque view and it was a gorgeous day. (FYI - We did not eat any other meal at the resort)
Location great. Facility beautiful.
The staff was extremely courteous and the grounds were beautiful. Guest room was great with a very comfortable bed. Also enjoyed the "Johnny Cash" review as well as the buffet.
Could use more umbrellas and chaise lounges on the beach. More servers beachside. Outside trash bins were full and the pool bathroom wasn't kept clean. Ran out of food at the outside restaurant. (I own a restaurant so pardon my critiquing
The outside of hotel and grounds were nice
The rooms need to be updated
Had dinner in restaurant - food and service were good - enjoyed very much. Room was comfortable and clean.
Morning buffet not worth the price - $16 ea was very overpriced especially since there was noone on the omelet station to make individual omelets and food already prepared was cold - trays were empty when we went thru - not attended to properly - Indoor pool and jacuzzi were dirty - sand in bottom of jacuzzi -
shore line at low tide was great to walk way out from beach attendance was very friendly and accommodating beautiful landscaping (though not well tended)
not barrier free i.e. steps up/down to bkfst buffet, etc STEEP walkway down to beach, found out last day there was a golf cart to transport guests, though not classy, it was a service . your summer staff are all kids who couldn't have cared less about ANYTHING. We sat at the outdoor patio/bar and played an entire game of scrabble and NOT ONE waitstaff came over to take our order, they were all having a grand ol' time around the frozen drink maker. At the other patio, questions about the menu or drinks , they had no clue. We noticed the older staff members were knowledgeable and friendly. FYI, We are 3 sisters in our 60's, artists and retired professionals in human service. Oh, we didn't take the advice of a guest we happened to talk to who advised us NOt to eat at your formal restaurant for dinner. We went anyway since we were there to celebrate our oldest sister's birthday and alas were disappointed. My sisters risotto dishes were a mound of mush with little fish in it for $30.00. WE KNOW risotto can be gluey if ill prepared and so it was. staying on restaurant issues, the breakfast served us a dirty glass of juice, another glass had a chip in the rim , the coffee was like flavored water. The buffet itself was mediocre tho the omelets were well done. Paint is peeling, umbrellas are broken, etc OH, we saw a woman FALL down the steps outside the formal dining room. We went to that area later in the day and those "ONCE GOLRIOUS" beautiful tiles that made up that stairway are crumbling and a safety hazard. That was the worse of what we saw ! if you're charging for "occupancy fees" where is the money going to if not to update your resort? It's a shame to see the decline of such an establishment.
drain clogged housekeeper disconnected the cable with her vacuming
Teh rooms, the people.
I was charged $10 per day for a tiny refrigerator and was not told up front. Also, air was not on during the night, power must be cut.
