excellent location in Manhattan ! Close to Broadway and Lincoln shopping centre.
It's a hostel for young people , not a hotel, the rooms are small but clean. Restrooms are outside it was always nosy in the corridors because of the groups of young people discussing something.
Location, Location, easy walk to everything of importance to me.
The Pillow, I need to bring my own. the TV in 1301 wasn't very good. Everything else was great!
Just a few meters from Central Park and Colombus Circle station
Really small room; the tv won´t work . bug. not what i bought on line.
Friendly staff, especially Bernadette.
Cleaning staff on floor 10 picked an inopportune time to clean, when many people needed the facility.
Location was great for sure and wifi connection was perfect.
I had a single room which was super tiny. Very dirty floors, shared bathrooms, cold at night, heater was not working.
Worst rooms without toilet, no breakfast / lunch , Horrible place to stay
Perfect position, Silent environment, Good bathroom.
The wifi blocked all the website from China, my mother cannot see the stock information.
The location was great
Rooms not clean and hot , a/c very noisy
The fitness area is just great as it is.
There is nothing that could serve your comfort feeling. I do not say that anything was terrible, but there is nothing that cannot be by far better. Everything is just scanty.
1) Location brilliant but transportation in NYC is quite good. 2) Staff was helpful, security
1) Bathroom - cold water and tepid water 2) Restroom - flush broken in one of the toilets, locks broken in cabins 3) Cockroaches - I thought that people were exaggerating in their reviews but unfortunately I killed one under my bed on wheels.
Friendly woman at front desk moved me to another room on 9th floor.
Of three showers for men on 9th floor, none had an efficient faucet - hot/cold/hot/cold was hard to determine. Of 4 wash basins, one had easy-to-use faucet. Shelf above wash basins was coming away from the wall - so not very functional. Two clothes hooks for 3 showers not sufficient. Room on 8th floor next to the first one I was assigned had a Do Not Disturb sign and emitted overwhelming aroma of decay: either someone hadn't bathed in a very long time ... or worse.
Proximity and cost.
* I loved the location! * it's safe & clean. There's a security guard at the front entrance 24 hrs, and one walking around monitoring the floors during the night. * most of the staff were helpful & friendly
* The bedroom doors slam whenever people go in and out, disturbing sleep of people in surrounding rooms (bring earplugs). Some people are also inconsiderately noisy in corridors at 2-3am. Apparently the CCTV wasn't working in my corridor so security wasn't monitoring this and didn't tell people to keep quiet. Management should put signs in the corridors asking guests to be considerate and not to stand talking in corridors in the middle of the night. * There was an annoying 'energy saving' movement activated light switch in my room that turned on the ceiling light automatically when it sensed movement (eg. when I rolled over in bed, the lights come on, repeatedly waking me up). This was very irritating. * I wish they had a coin operated laundromat for guests to use (rather than me having to walk 10 mins in the snow lugging dirty laundry to find a public laundromat). * the rooms are old & shabby, some with nasty lino floors. I felt that calling this 'deluxe' was close to false advertising. * there was a TV but it was immovably fixed to the wall (not on a flexible bracket as in some rooms) and couldn't be comfortably watched from the bed or desk. Methinks it wasn't installed by a genius... * the YMCA is expensive for a place with tired old rooms & shared bathrooms, but it's in a great location and maybe reasonable for NYC.
The location is great and the gym is good
It's very noisy (travellers running and shouting in the common area without talking of the terrible air conditioning system).
Like the staff
The washroom is not always have hot water, no hanger for cloth. Bad sound isolation,
The staff was very helpful. The location is good, next to Central park.
The room was clean, but the bed was uncomfortable and the restrooms are communal.
WIFi working in the whole structure. Position. 10 mins walk from Times Square and in front of Central Park.
Freezing at night time as the heating system was not working. Noisy at night time.
Fantastic location, every single staff member was helpful, cheerful, kind and courteous. The comfortable beds, instant hot water, mini mart for great selection of food snacks, service around the clock.
Stayed on a higher floor & it was surprisingly quiet for such an inexpensive place. Bathrooms, although shared, provide privacy because only one person uses them at a time. Also, they were reasonably clean. The room itself was quite clean. Love the YMCA's location adjacent to Central Park.
Wish there was a separate desk for hotel guests. Had long wait to check in and out. Also, procedure for leaving luggage at YMCA (after check-out), too involved to be worth the trouble.
Love the gym and basketball court. That basically made this place for us. The beds and room are OK.
The hallways are really depressing with and no real common areas.
The wifi was great and powerfull in every room. Flat screen tv was ok. Location was excellent.
There was no kitchen available nor refrigerator for guests. There's a buffet that closes at 7.30. But if you want a simple tea before bedtime, you can't get hot water anywhere. When we stayed there, there was a blizzard warning and we couldn't get out of the hotel for two days. We couldn't storage food in our rooms because we had no fridge nor microwave, the buffet was closed and STILL they refused to let us use the staff's microwave and fridge.
The room and the bathrooms were very clean and quiet
Nothing really except location
Staff wasn't friendly, rooms are small and outdated, bed is uncomfortable, Wi-Fi didn't work all 3 days.
great location-half block from Central Park, two blocks to Lincoln center, three blocks to Metro. Friendly, helpful staff.
