NEAR TO THE SIGHTSEEING PLACE SUNSET CAN SEE FROM ROOM'S BALCONY
I am heartily fed up at meeting with disappointment when I stay in so-called 5 star hotels. So, what are we entitled to expect from a so called “5 star resort” or hotel, are my expectations too high, or is it reasonable to expect that which is promised in brochures? I paid over one thousand dollars a night for an “Ocean View Room”, in what is supposed to be a luxury hotel, with what they describe as “Awesome Facilities”. An Ocean View room? Only if you crane your neck to the left and squint, can you just get a glimpse of the inlet, which feeds the Aquarium next door. Outside my room was a rubbish cart, sleeping driver and laundry storage. A luxurious ocean view room in a top resort, I don’t think so. Add to this, noisy banging pipes which awaken one in the early hours, noisy flushes of toilets in adjoining rooms, an out of date, noisy, through the wall air-con system with the cable draped across the floor to an electric socket and inconsiderate guests shouting and running in the corridors. Does this sound like a five star $1000 a night hotel, no it most emphatically does not; 2 star at best. Immediately in front of my room, was not the ocean, as promised but the Key West Aquarium; we had to endure the raucous tones of a guide, as she lectured her visitors over an amplified PA system. A luxurious ocean view room in a top resort, I don’t think so. So, seeking an ocean view whilst we sipped our sundowners, we tried the so called Sunset Pier but it was totally full of people who had the same idea, one told me that one had to arrive at least two hours before sunset, to find a place. So, we adjourned to the ‘Sunset Deck’ bar, where according to the blurb one can “enjoy a birds-eye-view of the famous Key West sunset ,whilst sipping a tropical libation”. Not if someone has parked a hulking great cruise liner in front of you, you can’t!
Staff, facilities, location exceeded our expitations.
Location to down town, short walk to everything..
3Rd floor smelled like urine ? Cruise ship blocked view of sunset on the Sun Deck... !!!!! overpriced ! Not very friendly at front desk.. My check in was for 4 pm and room was not ready ?? finally at 5:30 it was.. No compensation for this ? outside bar on sun set deck, very rude woman bartender, felt like she really didn't want to be there ? they should hire friendly people for a bar area ....!!
Location to town
Cruise ships block view Room was adequate but not reflective of cost Short staffed at restaurant
Everything was perfect
Didn't like the attitude of some of the staff. Shouldn't have to pay for wifi ITS FREE EVERYWHERE and the location is way to busy with the cruise ships in.
Location: wonderful. Walk to everything. Wonderful views from room.
Marina rooms at the Westin are well-worn. The carpets are dirty. Housekeeping is so-so. The beds are comfortable but the sheets are scratchy. At one point, a pot of coffee was spilled on a third floor balcony which drained down onto our second floor balcony. Housekeeping eventually cleaned it up, but we were initally told it was from birds.
Location, once you get there, is excellent. Located adjacent to the tourist activities, you can walk to most everything.
Tough to drive to, and from. Not great if you want to activities that you need to drive to.
The location is great but beware of cruise ships that can block the view. The front desk and concierge staff were excellent.
While the room was clean the hallways were dirty and the cleaning staff is a bit sullen.
Ocean view 2 bedroom, Key West sunsets, walking distance to everything, boats in Marina, Sunset Key beach and restaurant.
Noisy a/c in room 408, apparent leak in bar area, slow drain in 2nd bath.
Qe arrived at 13:50hrs and checked in, but we had to wait until 16:30 for our bedrooms tive available. Unacceptable.
Great swimming pool. Great location. Great parking.
everithing was fine
Air conditioning too noisy
The area that it was in
I paid for an ocean view and got the huge ships blocking the beautiful sunsets.
Polite attentive staff
Noisy air conditioning
Great location and ease to walk to everything. View of water awesome. Room was quiet even though it was right on the waterfront. Nice that wifi is free. Pool nice and relaxing
Room had leak in ceiling after an afternoon rain. Could hear dripping on floor and noticed condition of ceiling indicated this was going on for awhile. We notified front desk but decided not to vacate room since we were leaving next day. Bed linens were a bit heavy for Florida temperatures and not comfortable or easy to adjust to lighter layers and bathroom could have better lighting.
Restaurants, facilities, food, room, views.
Cruise ships when docked, spoils view.
inconsistent room service, and no flexibility. A/C was really really loud, ridiculous price for room. TV stations poor. Ocean view short lived due to boat pulling up right in front. Staff said it was covered on the internet. pretty bad all round.
Size of room
The staff was perfect, Katherine, in front desk was perfect And kind. Love the location too. Room was big And clean. The best option in Key West. Hope tô be back soon.
The location is fantastic!! Staff very friendly.Nice coffee in the room!!Very good experience!!
Parking, taxes and resort fees make it much more expensive!
We enjoyed the location of the Westin. Located near Duval Street it is close to just about anything you would want to do! The room was perfect, clean and comfortable.
This is a beautiful place to stay in the heart of old Key West. Convenient to everything a tourist could want.
Extra charges for this and that till it was annoying. You have to pay extra to use there beach. The tv has a poor selection to choose from. The pool is long but like a play pool and only three feet plus deep. I am old enough to remember when resorts had real swimming pools not kiddy pools.
location and staff were very good. Any problems were solved quickly.
Overcharged for laundry service which was quickly fixed. Hot and cold faucets were reversed but fixed immediately. Loud air conditioner first night but repaired next day.
