Not sure if this was the case for other rooms but in 40th floor there was a big gap when closing the door which was letting lots of air come in the room. With -16 outside this was not very pleasant. Temperature in the room was not possible to moderate.
Location of the Hotel was excellent. General comfort of the room was ok. Good
Midtown...easy access to everything, right near Chrysler Building/Grand Central Station.
Receptionist wasn't very pleasant on our arrival date.
The room lay out, it was spacious and comfortable.
Would like more seating in the foyer
For our family, the Westin Grand Central is a combination of excellent value, location and service. It can't be beat in Mid-Town Manhattan!!
Free wifi would be welcome.
The Westin is located close to the Grand Central station. It's not too far from Times Square and the commutes to both downtown and uptown Manhattan are quick. There are many restaurants nearby and the subway is a hop and step away. The hotel staff is courteous and helpful inspite of the hotel being a busy one. We've stayed here before and shall consider it again.
We could not get a cab outside the hotel @ 6pm. In fact, one cab asked us our destination and then refused to take us ... he was heading in the other direction. It reflected poorly on the hotel. This is a MAJOR issue! ! ! Also, the elevator timing was horrible. At times we waited 5-8 minutes for an elevator. Also, the food in the hotel restaurant was mediocre at best. You should at least have a decent breakfast.
Location was excellent for our trip, which was to see a play and easy walking distance to Manhattan restaurants and sites ... Third Ave is a nice distance from the heavy tourist paths.
there was nothing to dislike
Beautiful decor and toiletries. Very comfortable bed and free Starbucks coffee in the room. there is an excellent bar on the ground floor.
Having to pay for Wifi outside of the hotel lobby is appalling in this day and age, not impressed at all.
Concierge very helpful. Great midtown location, suprisingly was nice and quiet. Close to subway, extremely easy to get taxi's as and when needed. Nice breakfast in the hotel restaurant, although very expensive.
- Quite expensive for what it is, but then it is in a prime location. - A rude staff member at check in. Had arrived early and room wasn't ready. Was initially served by a very pleasant lady (Diedre), who threw in complimentary wifi as I agreed to join the loyalty program. When I returned later to collect the key, was served by a surly member of staff who refused to honour the earlier deal of free wifi but eventually acceded after some argument. Then practically threw the key card at me and looked at me like I had just insulted his entire family. Totally unacceptable behaviour and I forgot to check his name so unable to make a formal complaint.
- Extremely comfortable bed, - Decent sized room with sofa - Good location near Grand Central station - Friendly, helpful staff overall, apart from one individual.
We didn't have enough time in the hotel room as we were too busy exploring the city but this isn't a fault of the hotel obviously! For this reason we probably should have booked a less expensive hotel as we didn't get the full use of it.
Central location. Beautiful hotel. The most luxurious hotel bed we have ever slept in including the pillows.
Expensive hotel food.compared to outside restaurants.
Safe nice quiet room.
Great hotel, good size rooms with good comfy beds. Although mid-town Location it was a bit of a walk to the main shopping areas.
They could not find my reservation first and my floor was a little bit noisy because of other people staying in the hotel.
location, room, view
Had to wait a long time for the bell man to get my luggage from storage. Also, there didn't seem to be a clear process for waiting in line for check in or check out.
Great location. Easy to get a taxi. Room was spacious and very comfortable.
Hotel is Nice. address location, cleaness customer service room.
The windows are not well isolated, so there is some noise from the street EXPENSIVE WIFI in the rooms. Should not be like that nowadays when even many cafe places provide that
The room is nice, all that you would expect from a westin The bed is big and comfortable at least in the rooms with "big bed" The location is good, close to grand Central. Very convenient if you take the Airporter option to JFK
Loved the location for transportation to the U.S. Open (tennis). The entire staff was excellent. The location for shopping, 9-11 Memorial, High Line, Central Park and Grand Central is perfect.
the price was very high . I paid through my nose
all the facilities and services offered by the hotel
many people in the elevator due to conventions going on.
full service chain with full staff in the front desk. reasonable. newly renovated rooms. clean. spacious.
There is no place to rest apart from the bar where you have to drink something to stay there.
Confortable beds. Room large enough.
Hard to sleep at night due to traffic noise. Access to the fitness room was very odd; had to go all the way to the lobby and then take a flight of stairs to the first floor. It was also evident that some of the fitness equipment was not regularly serviced (ellipticals). They either weren't working at all or behaved erratically. Overall, for the price paid, there was nothing that wowed me.
The main plus for me was that it was the location for the conference that I was attending and therefore I had no distance to go to attend the conference. There were also plenty of restaurants around the hotel, so plenty of choice for dinner in the evening.
Wi-Fi was extra.
The staff was really friendly!
I thought the on site restaurant was overpriced and had a very limited menu. I prefer a bathtub, though it was a great shower! The prices for the foodstuff stocked in the fridge was outrageous. Though it was finally provided gratis, we were told wi-fi was $15.00/day extra. I upgraded to a corner room, I didn't realize I'd be losing the fridge and micro-wave. That was missed. I would have enjoyed a sauna,...steam, dry, whirlpool. Without the bathtub, my arthritis acts up from the loss of the heat and subsequent increase in blood flow. A yoghurt, banana, or bagel in the morning wouldn't have broken the bank on you guys! Especially without the ability to keep juice, creme cheese, milk or cereal in the room. Or even heat up last night's leftovers.
We were able to take the airport shuttle from JFK to the beautifully renovated Grand Central Terminal with one clearly marked under-ground transfer, cost $7.50 each! Just a two block walk to the hotel. The bed was great, and we have a new Tempurpedic at home! No need to ask for extra pillows, they were there. A restaurant on the property, complementary coffee maker in the room, and I got the amenities I asked for at booking; I wanted high, we were on the 39th floor! I requested a view of the Crysler building, we got that and the Empire State Building too! The windows opened a few inches to allow circulation of fresh air, though the air conditioner was more than adequate in getting us through an unusually warm summer spell. The staff was helpful in their suggestions re: eateries, directions to the iconic sites. They graciously held our bags for us as we had a late flight out and one more day to enjoy the city. Housekeeping was respectful of our West coast circadian rhythms and our request for only caffeine laden coffee, extra cream and sugar. We loved the extra large shower stall, the rain shower heads and the wands for a consentrated spray for rinsing your hair or hard to reach places. Cozy, microfiber robes were perfect for lounging on the bed watching free premium channels or current movies to buy. The down- like comforter from the closet made the transition from the hot shower to the cooled room. We didn't feel the need to use the available work-out equipment after having walked to Times Square, 5th Ave and all it offers, and exploring the side streets for a pub or deli. Even late at night, there were policemen everywhere, we felt safe. Vendors set up on the streets around tourist destinations at night, but no one ever approached us attempting to sell knock off bags or watches. The city itself is so much cleaner than it was when I was a young New England resident and visited often.
