White Swan Inn  

The Nob Hill location was perfect for exploring San Francisco. The rooms were beautiful and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. My husband was born in North London and loved the quirky English touches like the intricate cathedral models that appeared to have been made by an English bloke working in his front room.

Very comfortable and convenient. Lovely breakfast, end of day drinks with opportunity to talk with fellow guests.

The room was large, clean, attractive and comfortable. The facilities were excellent and the breakfast superb. I was not around for the evening drinks session but I am told by those who were that it was great- excellent food supplied apparently.The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Yes, I'd stay there again....but

Next time I will request a room on the top floor. The only complaint I have is that the adjacent rooms [and occupants] were a little noisy. The floor above me squeaked, possibly on account of the age / nature of the wooden flooring?

The location was in a great spot and the gourmet breakfast buffet was great. Very accomodating.

The parking situation but that is SF life and most travlers dont have a rental car.

Breakfast was delicious and fresh. Wine by the fire in early eve was great before heading back out after busy day on foot in SF. Spacious room and comfy bed were much appreciated. Super nice staff and they check your bags for later pick up on departure day!

The hotel is not your standard hotel, more like a private place to stay. Very spacious rooms and a classic vintage interior. Plus a superb location.

Would love to see a more competitive pricing.

We were very happy with this hotel, the staff was very helpful and friendly, the hotel is like a home away from home, the room was an excellent size, clean and very comfortable. The included breakfast was very good and we loved the extra touches such as the hot apple cider and cake in reception when we came back to the hotel on one of the cold winter nights during our stay.

We liked everything about the hotel and would highly recommend it to others.

The hotel definitely has a lot of personality, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the old cage elevator, and our room was quiet and comfortable, if a bit worn. The breakfast was good, and it was a real treat to have wine and appetizers in the evening. We had an interesting conversation with another couple, and our stay was a great start to our trip.

Our bed was a bit lumpy, and there was no heat in the bathroom.

Good Atmosphere and decor, great location, staff friendly and helpful. Wine and Cheese in the afternoon was a nice way to finish the day.

The cozy atmosphere felt great and the daily reception in the afternoon with small snacks and wine came just right after a long day on your feet. The old fashioned elevator was fun as well as the fireplace in the room. The location is great for exploring the city. Every site is a maximum of 30 minutes on foot away (except for the Bridge :-)). The staff was very friendly and helpful and quickly took care of all our needs.

The heating or isolation of the room should be improved. In the Californian "winter" it was not easy to heat up. There should be some cheese available at breakfast.

Very cozy, home and old-English style small hotel, spacy rooms with tiny nice kitchen in the room. Pleasant helpful staffs. Simple, but very tasty breakfast, wine and snacks reception at the evening for all.

Prices! It's ~250$ off season and ~500$ on season.

The staff, room, value

It was very homey and comfortable. The staff was excellent and always welcoming. Also, the free breakfast, wine hour, cookies, and soda/water in the room was much appreciated. I love that the room had a fire place and we could turn it on at anytime. This place was great! I can't wait to visit again!

A little noisy; street noise etc. Elevator is tricky to use. Breakfast buffet could be better. Internet is slow.

It was a little noisy because it is an old building. We couldn't get our window to lock, but those are very minor complaints to me.

Great location, friendly staff and oversized rooms. The bed was comfortable and very nice bed linens. Spacious sitting area with windows that open.

The torn curtains in the room give a very bad first impression. They were torn and looked grey from the dust. Duct taped windows. I did not like beginning awakened by the smell of breakfast in the morning it was not pleasant and by the last day we figured out we could put a towel under the door to keep the smell out.

I left booking a hotel in San Francisco very late on one of the busiest weekends of the year. So I was really pleasantly surprised to check into the Swan Inn which was one of the cheaper options available. Staff are friendly and helpful, the room was huge and really comfortable, the bathroom luxurious. The location is fabulous, just two blocks from Union Square. There were lots of little extras like a full cooked breakfast, complimentary bottled water and cans of soft drinks in the mini bar, fresh-baked biscuits always available in the foyer, and they also have a happy hour every afternoon (which I was never around for). There is a lovely lounge area too. Yes the decor is a little flowery and the small lift a bit temperamental, but this is a really lovely small hotel which I will definitely be returning too.

We loved the warm welcome we received from Andy...the beautiful, cozy room , the welcome wine & cheese tray prepared for us for our 45th Anniversary, the delicious breakfasts, the most delicious cookies in the afternoon, the most enjoyable evenings with wine and appetizers...we shared much fellowship with other guests well into the evening!!! The quaintness of the hotel...the elevator...a trip back in time! Andy is incredibly good at his job and took wonderful care of us from beginning to end. Molly, the General Manager, was particularly attentive to a need we had and handled it very professionally. It is obvious that Guests are important to them. The proximity...we could walk to everything including great restaurants and, if you are a shopper...Union Square is close by!

The evening reception is fun. The room was comfortable, spacious. Yummy morning breakfast options. Location is fantastic!
