Pillow needed to be replaced. Reaked strongly of body odor. Mattresses needed to be wrapped in protector. Mold growing on the mattresses.
Can't sleep with the coqui calling from late evening up to next morning. No one clean up my room and change of the towel in my three nights stay. The room is not so clean.
breakfast was great the ambience friendly and helpful staff
Staff was friendly but smiles don't fix it.
In need of serious repairs in all areas! Maintenance personnel were unable or unwilling to address affective repairs. Plumbing issues all week, all 7 days. Only hot water in shower and toilet. Sink stopped up all week, not fixed. I could go on & on, just don't book it.
The breakfast was excellent! Real Aloha spirit. Loved your banana bread.
Typical hawaiian relaxed hotel :-) The staff is soo friendly, great location and very good price :-) I would definitely recommend this hotel :-)
Bugs are too loud :-)
Views, ambiance, welcoming staff, hostel-like environment, non-big-hotel style, easy access to parking lot, breakfast, friendly guests, feeling close to Hawaiian nature, easy airport access, good access to all of east- and south-side Big Island.
General atmosphere, garden, breakfasts, laid back attitude, helpful staff.
about right for the price.
nice location, walk to shops & restaurants, in "old town" away from pricey resorts
No hot water in shower, lights outside of bedroom sometimes were going on & off not, covered well by curtain
Friendly staff and breakfast included.
Quite expensive for pretty basic accommodation.
Helpful friendly staff - no issue locating 2 wine glasses and a beer glass. Well located to enable walking into town shops. Quiet (ignore singing frogs and birds as they are nature) Vegetation Out door kitchen albeit basic but pleasant to have a wine or beer. Free wifi although most of time can only be used in lobby area.
A healthy Cereal included for breakfast would have been appreciated. Buildings and rooms very tied - requires maintenance that could be achieved with major expenditure - EG some effort. Noisy fan.
Adequate facilities for the price, Liked the outside area for sitting outside in the garden, free wifi, Breakfast included in price
Frogs but as the noise os constant wasn't a problem to sleep
The location was great. Walking to downtown is a pleasant stroll in the evening, with a visit to the Farmers Market during the day. The landscaping was one in which your mind could get lost in. Beautiful flowers intertwined among the banana trees with hanging bunches of bananas ripening. I found the staff to be Aloha in every sense of the word, friendly, hospitable and interesting to talk to. The view from the second floor was magnificent. I relished it every day.
The only negative I have was having a musician and his crew in the room right next door. Rolling in at 4:30 am without a care in the world, as if they were the only one's in the building, loud talking, music etc. As karma would have it they took the two pizza boxes with the pizza to their room, which I had left on the chair outside our room as they had been infiltrated by ants, where they consumed it readily. HaHa
The comfort and pleasant people and specially their banana bread!
It is old and unique place to stay, especially i liked the old bridge near the hotel
Breakfast and friendly staffs
Tons of bugs in room
The position is good. Local style
Cockroaches in the room. Very noisy but with eartaps you can sleep well. Poor internet service. The water is either cold or hot.
Easy walk into town. Funky attitude. Water available all day. Breakfast had nice carrot and banana cake, papaya and bananas.
Noisy from highway and frogs. Sink in first room plugged up. TV in first room not good picture. Floors all uneven - is building sliding into creek?
Staff trying to be friendly. Hotel with nature charm.
Frogsss. coqui frogs chirping their lungs out all night long. No Wifi in room, only in lobby. Unclean lobby and watertank. Poor breakfast. Typical state of disrepair of Hawaiian buildings and insects. High additional cost for two single beds unstead of one double. No warm water second day, first day took to long.
The relaxed atmosphere of the place. It has some age to it, but is clean and in good order. No snobs to be found. The management and staff were very friendly and helpful and went to great effort to put me in contact with tour companies and to make suggestions for my stay. Awesome.
Nothing to dislike here, unless you need gold taps and the like.
I liked the friendliness of the staff. The manager was very helpful in deciding on what to do around the island. We came here without any plans and filled every day with fantastic experiences. She would sit with us and show us maps etc. Room was large, fruit at brekkie was fresh, nicely surrounded by noisy nature.
If the sound of nature is to loud earplugs are provided in room.
- Near the center of Hilo - Good price - Breakfast included is really nice - Room is clean and confortable - Bathroom is really basic but fine - Beautiful garden
- Nothing but you need to like the nature as you can hear all the noise from the garden.
The bayfront was very close. The grounds were very scenic and there were many things that would have been nice for a longer, group stay (surfboards, BBQ, volleyball, etc.) Very good value for price. Staff very friendly.
Pretty warm with just a ceiling fan for circulation. Could hear a bit too much noise from nearby rooms. Real milk/cream for coffee would have been nice.
Location and breakfast are fair for money.
Frogsss. There is a lot of frogs and noise at night nothing to do that.
Very friendly staff, enchanting rooms and grounds. Continental breakfast was great! We loved our stay here!
