Clean, comfortable. The manager was very friendly and helpful, he really made sure our stay was good. The motel is close to Route 66 and the Grand Canyon
A true old style Route 66 Motel, on the historic list. The owner could not have been more helpful and friendly. The Motel retains everything a dreamer of Route 66 could wish for. An excellent place to stay for my two day stop over. I would stay here again with no second thoughts.
We travelled along the west coast for 3 weeks, so we have seen a lot of hotels and motels. But this one was definitely the best one. The rooms aren’t very big, but that doesn’t matter, because it has a very nice atmosphere and the beds are clean. The host is a very friendly und funny guy, always helpful. He has good advices for dinner or activities. We really enjoyed chatting with him. For everyone who is looking for a real road trip experience, the Grand Motel is the right address. Also Williams is very nice town with good restaurants (best pulled pork I have ever had, ask the host) and cool bars.
There was no electrical outlets in the bathroom for my blowdryer. There was a shortage of electrical outlets in the room to plug in my phone, computer. No clock. Husband had to fix the toilet; it wouldn't flush. No table or desk to put computer on.
The location. The friendliness of the owner. Historic site.
Location, value, service
The owner did everything to make us comfortable, helped us plan our Grand Canyon adventure, and made us feel right at home!
Rich was great at explaining what to do for dinner in Williams. Also made sure the room was fine after check in too. Great Route 66 motel.
Very comfortable bed. Accommodating staff. Good WiFi signal. Very clean.
Excellent location and a good feel type of place, certainly not pretentious.
Wifi didn't work in our room, only in front of the reception.
Good location coming from or going to the Grand Canyon. Of course not a 5-star hotel, but really good for one night: clean, friendly, comfortable bed and with breakfast.
- friendly service: owner spends a lot of time to talk with his guests :)
enthusiasic and very friendly management provided a memorable stay with reliable information for dinner. The Motel is a work in progress and the new owners are passionate about the historical renovation.
It was great to see the new owner is putting his heart and soul into fixing up this historical motel back to it original state as much as possible. He took out time to share its history with us as well as telling us about places to go and see at The Grand Canyon. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Wifi was unstable, but that happens a lot in smaller, remote towns.
Great owner, knowledgeable and very accommodating! Perfect location, quiet, good showers&beds! Breakfast ok for motel. If you are looking for a place where you are made feel very welcome and valued as a guest, this is the place. Still needs some fixing here and there, but very clean and sufficient! Owner tries to accommodate every need & goes out of his ways for guests.
Nothing! Everything was fantastic. This motel will only get better with time. Once the restoration/remodel is complete, it will be absolutely *perfect*. Keep in mind that this hotel was first built in 1936. It is OLD! And as such, it has quirks indicative of an old establishment. If you want a modern hotel with lots of amenities, this isn't the place for you. If you want to feel like you stepped back in time, stay in here.
The owner! He was phenomenal! So friendly and helpful but moreover, he really cares about his guests and their time spent at his motel and in the city of Williams. I am *so* happy we choose this hotel and in doing so supported a legit small business. The motel is old (built in 1936) and the owner is restoring it with his own hands. In doing so, he is preserving the motel but also adding some more modern conveniences. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Motel & would definitely stay here again given the opportunity. It was very clean with brand new beds, bedding & carpets.
Not a very big problem, but wifi signal strength inside the room was not strong.
Location was great. Friendly staff and very helpful.
The outside needs lots of work.
Once you get past the messy outside the inside is wonderful. It is really clean, comfortable and great layout for kids.
The room was very small with a huge bed so basically the bed took up the whole room. Parking was awful - small and very tight parking. The bathroom is tiny - hard to maneuver in and out of. Overall not too pleasant. The owner is trying but the office door was locked about 8pm and they don't answer. They did answer their phone though to address concerns we had.
The bed was comfortable
New owner. Recently remodeled rooms and bathrooms. Outstanding beds. Very clean. Porch with chairs and tables. Outside covered patio with lots of tables/chairs.
Everything was wonderful. We arrived late due to car trouble, but when we arrived the office was open and everything was ready. He went out of his way to ensure my son and I had a great time and thanks to his maps and guidance we maximized our time there, with a relaxed pace. My son has special needs and due to all of the help I got in regards to what was available and the best route we both had a wonderful time with no complications or issues. We will definitely return to the Grand Motel for all of our vacations and breaks up North. I had some health issues arise and had to stay on an extra day. Everything was handled efficiently to accommodate us during our entire stay. We have already recommended this hotel to family, friends, and co-workers heading into Williams within the next 6 months.
A nice restoration of a classic Route 66 motel, with a terrific owner/proprietor who provides the perfect complement to the overall experience. Very highly recommended!
Almost everything! Not sure how this place has good reviews...looks like the owner might have written them himself...the place is in a time warp with the most basic of facilities. Not sure where the 'balcony with mountain view' comes into it. All ground floor rooms with either views of the main road or other rooms! Charging $60+ for this place is a disgrace. My dog has better facilities.
Good location on Route 66 Comfortable bed
An old fashioned motel, with old fashioned excellent service. Richard, the new owner is passionate about the place. Please do not let the exterior influence your judgement. He is doing the place up, starting with the rooms. They are clean and comfortable and are of a good standard. Our host did every ting he could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We booked for 2 nights, stayed 5.Say on more !
Very helpful owner Excellent wifi Cleanliness
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Very helpful hints about places to eat. He was very enthusiastic about the updates and upgrades they were making, as well as how they were trying to bring back to much of the original which I am thoroughly pleased about. I've grown tired of the cookie cutter stick built hotels with no character. Morning coffee sitting out on the porch was especially delightful
