Just a first class place.
It was great. Beautiful place to stay on the beach on Sanibel Island.
Bathroom at pool.
Perfect for a 5-day visit with my 80-year-old mom. Spacious room and nice screened-in patio.
The landscaping and spaciousness of the property plus the close access to the beach was great! The room was comfortable and clean with a nice lanai.
I have stayed at several inns on Sanibel and I always enjoyed the extra pluses such as full kitchens, bicycles provided and beach chairs and umbrellas provided, free of charge. This resort required, what I considered, rather high fees for these things.
I don't want anyone else to know how great the hotel is, then they will raise their rates and I won't be able to afford to visit any more...
Beautiful efficiency right on the beach. Heated pool, attentive and knowledgeable staff, great facilities and services available made it the perfect place to relax and recharge.
Quaint place. Loved the pool. Staff were very friendly. I had a lizard in my room and they came within minutes to "rescue" me! Nice screened in balcony.
The wall mounted A/C. Either too cold or hot, although it was humid out.the restaurant was good, but not open for dinner on Sunday or Monday nights.
Right on the beach, very quiet at night - no rowdy quest!
nothing - we had a great stay
Coupled with friendly staff that is concerned about your stay, our nicely furnished balcony unit made the ocean sunset views even more enjoyable. Going there for years. Never disappointed.
beach.restaurant food and service,friendly staff
our room had carpetting that was old and moldy. We had to change rooms x1 due to carpet cleaner strong odor.Second room still smelled of mold( airconditioner and rug).sorry to complain but resort really needs to tear up rugs.
Right on the beach, world-class shelling, nice pool, nice tiki bar, love the Sanibel area.
The onsite restaurant was overpriced and incredibly loud from having stone floors and empty walls.
Being a first time parent our first family vacation meant the world to us. West Winds Inn was the most amazing and relaxing and perfect vaca spot we could have asked for. We will be booking a room for our other little ones for spring break! Also, I want to thank the lady who bought us dinner as well. Being a newbie to parenting is tough but that gesture will forever be remembered. Thank you very much. Your pay it forward moment will be forever remember!
Location on beach, cleanliness,balcony view
Sanibel Lighthouse Walking distance to the beach Pool and pool bar
The restaurante at the hotel sucked. Bad food and service
A little "fifties" but good buy for the money.
The room was spacious and updated, lovely screened balcony, beach literally 1 minute from your room and and a large 9 ft pool with great deck and pool bar area. Staff was wonderful. Great value and a fantastic place to stay on Sanibel. I chose it because it had great reviews and it lived up to every expectation.
Location Being right on the beach Had an on site bar, unbelievable sunset location Had the most beautiful seashells Great on site restaurant for breakfast and dinner, reasonable $
Absolutely nothing! I wouldn't be able to find anything wrong even if I wanted to!
Location and room quality
So close to a nice beach that was not terribly crowded & wonderful staff
The restaurant was a bit disappointing in terms of the quality of the food, but the waitress could not have been nicer.
We liked the refurbished rooms and the location on the beach.
Very friendly staff and clean facilities. Pool was nice and food was excellent at the restaurant. Right on the beach and middle of the island for easy access to everything. Bike rentals on site. The room's porch was screened in to keep out bugs.
Location on the beach great for walking and picking up shells. Fun bar by pool with good breakfasts at The Normandie restaurant.
rooms a little dark.
Clean room. Due to the fenced and thus closed terrace against animals we could sleep with open terrace door. Short distance from ocean front apartment to the beach only. Beautiful beach. Beautiful sunset. Lot of animals. Less people on the beach. Very quiet if you are in ocean front apartments.
Even the hotel is located close to the beach, most of the apartments have no or very limited view to the beach and sea. The hotel was built in a U- shape with the pool in the center. Only some beach front apartments have good view and access to the beach. To change the apartment from a pool view to a beach view apartment we had to pay an extra fee of USD 30 per night (which is absolutely reasonable). We also changed from a 2nd floor apt. to a ground floor apt. as there's a door from the terrace to the beach access trail. Unfortunately ALL terracces and balconies are fenced as of some mini moscitos appearing for 2- 3 evening hours only. This gives the terracces and balconies unneccessarly a caged/ jailed feeling. As smoking is prohibited on terracces & balconies the apt. area must get totally left by smokers. Twin beach chairs plus an umbrella only available upon request and a USD 20 charge per day. Phone and a/c didn't work. The ocean water didn't seem to be clean. No close bye shops.
Our room view was great, but we purchased ocean view. Did like the proximity to the beach. Room was large, however, the bath was snug. It was nicely remodeled. Staff was excellent in handling our checkout and our needs, i.e. business & beach equipment.
I did not realize Sanibel was a shell capital. It was great for shell collectors, not me. I didn't read the info about Sanibel. There was some noise from other customers slamming entrance doors, but that life.
The proximity to the ocean The pool and pool bar The restaurant Nice large clean rooms and modern bathroom
Very temperamental and slow WiFi
