the tiny, distant shared bathrooms and toilettes, unusual accessing of the fourth floor
good location, good wifi, clean surroundings, secure place.

It was a really really dangerous location. I read the reviews saying it was unsafe and ignored them. I have travelled all over the world and never have I seen homeless people behave like those in this area. I saw people injecting in broad daylights in the streets, people urinating and defecating in the middle of the street, and to top it off I saw two men beating the living daylights out of a woman who's bag they tried to steal. It was noisy, there were homeless people staying in rooms in the hotel, and it was really really scary to walk to the hotel. Go a few streets up or down ( almost any except market street) and it is a lot safer.
The room was clean.

Location is great and property is very well kept. As long as you're not looking for amenities, this is undoubtedly the best option for leisure or small business travellers

Horrible area. This should be flagged so future travelers don't make the same mistake.
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. It is unfortunate that their hotel is in the area it is.

The place stinks and also wifi is very slow . I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my enemies also .

Only one complaint, the two socket power outlet was at floor level, had to move a chest of draws to plug in,sockets so worn that plugs would not stay in,quite annoying, with laptop, smartphone etc.
Hotel was clean and close to transport and center of city.

Restrooms were very clean, room was very neat and clean, and the bed was very comfortable, staff was decent.

This is more like a good hostel than a hotel. There is one barroom per floor and 3 showers. If there aren't a lot of other people on the floor, it's not too bad. It's right off market, so close to a lot. It's also in the edge of the tenderloin area, so there are a lot of homeless. The noise wasn't too bad until one night at 3am a car outside pulled up with loud music and got all homeless excited. The staff is friendly, and I didn't try breakfast, I didn't think it was offered. Ok if you are in a budget, need to book late. There are a lot of homeless in SF in general and many of them on market. This hotel is so close to a major street I never felt unsafe. There was a real good cafe to the immediate right (away from market) that was awesome and drew a huge crowd.

Only one bad surprise: plastic (or something very close to plastic in terms of breathing) bed linen. You drown in your own sweat minutes after you hit the sack, otherwise the bed was fine. WiFi is up and down.
Almost everything matched the place description

SF is a generally loud city, but the street where the hotel resides is louder. I think there are pubs around and you can hear very loud music during 2 a.m. at night, which is disturbing.
Location was good, close to Moscone center, SF bay and BART subway station, which takes you to airport.

Great place for the price I paid

If you're staying long, note that this place does not have fridge and basic kitchen ware. Homeless around the area but it's not too bad
Location was good. Easy to travel with bus and bart.

The bed was hard as a rock and the towels were not so nice
The bus routes were with in walking distance and lots of food options around. Would recommend it to my friends and family.
January 3, 2015
The bed was not terribly comfortable.
Excellent location in the heart of SF, and although there were some homeless people outside on the street, the location felt very safe. The shared bathrooms very clean, and the personnel nice and helpful.

Room was cold, cold floor. Stayed for 4 nights. Room wasn't cleaned or towels changed not even once.
Excellent location, very close to center. Streets are noisy till late night, but mornings are quiet. Shared bathrooms cleaned regularly.

very dirty towels, poor room service and cleaning very dirty guests and smelly toilets
November 19, 2014
Lots of homeless people outside. The bathroom floor was also sticky and smelt of urine...
The squeaky bed with plastic mattress protector to keep you up all night, every time you move.
November 18, 2014
On a street that is less secure. There was some renovation being done.Uncertain if older elevator will work for all the floors. There is no lounge for guests.
Close to main transportation, shops, food and entertainment. Several washers and dryers available at $2 each to use. Lots of maps with coupons provided.Good heater in our room.

There are plenty of homeless people in SF, some of them hang out on 6th street... but I had no problem with them. They didn't loiter in front of the gate during day time.
The location is very central to major business/ tourist spots, and also very convenient from the BART Powell station, about ~5 minute walk. Also i was pleasantly surprised that the rooms are very clean, no bugs/ mosquitos. The shower/toilets are also pretty clean. I had no problem staying there.

Horrible location. Cops outside all night and no sleep due to crackheads screaming and fighting. Can't go to or from room without being asked for money or them trying to sell me meth, crack, or heroin or cans of lysol and other random items. No bathroom in hotel rooms.
Came to sf for concerts and room was only a few blocks from the venue, cheap room, and very friendly staff. :)

This is located in the worst part of san fran (the tenderloin district). I was scared walking to and from the hotel. The cab driver was surprised that there was even a hotel here. There is no airconditioning and so I had to leave my window open at night which resulted in being woken up by many sirens and noisy locals on the street. If I had realised where this was I would have stayed anywhere else in the city
The staff were efficient
October 29, 2014
During my stay I noticed that there where fleas in the beds of the hotel. I can stand the shared showers, the fact that the rooms are very spartan, but I cannot stand the pure lack of hygene the surrounds this place. And to make matters worse: the staff told me a lier and didn't even respond to my complaints. A absolute nightmare to stay here. Never book this!!!!

Very close to Powell St station - handy for getting around/airport Blackout curtains in room Good wifi Good city map available in reception

The street is really rough, packed with drug dealers and homeless - they don't bother you but some people might find it scary. It can get VERY noisy at night - most of the time it was OK but on my last night I did not get an hour of sleep.
Nice staff, great location to get around, big room, cheap, you have a basin in your room.
