Location, Ocean View, Staff, Food, Bed & Pillows.
Room & bathroom small. Free WiFi slow Lobby overcrowded (used as reception - lounge - bar - restaurant all at the same time) but the worst is that during busy lunch or dinner hours you feel like you're inside the kitchen (ventilation needs to be fixed)
The staff were very friendly and helpful
Location is perfect, beach front right in Art Deco district. Beds are comfortable. L'Occitane toiletries in bathroom - wonderful! Plenty of towels, changed every day.
Il Bolognese Restaurant downstairs is outrageously expensive - we had a "special seafood dish" suggested by waiter and made a huge mistake of not asking the price. It was by far the smallest, least remarkable but most expensive meal of the whole trip. Service in hotel was poor, staff was just not pleasant and not so keen to help. As if they are doing you a favor and not their job. No free parking anywhere near by. Valet very expensive ($25/day) not included in room rate. Continental breakfast not worth the additional cost on the room rate. Walk a bit and eat elsewhere.
When the price was quoted the associate did not factor in the weekend of Friday and Saturday and the room rate was increased.
The room and the location are good. The food in the restaurant is nice. The staff at the reception (Cecila e Barbaro) are very friendly.
We booked a room with a kingsize bed and sea view. When We arrived at the reception thy told us: "I am sorry, but we only have a room without a view or a room with 2 twin beds!!!" I kept calm and insisted in having the kind of room I paid for. But this is not what I expected from a serious hotel. I have to take a room I did not booked because it was Saturday - - Labor day weekend - and Miami was packed. Otherwise I would have moved to another hotel. We have a lunch and a bottle of sparkling wine as a courtesy. But our anniversary weekend wasn't exactly the way we planned. On Sunday at 4:00 pm there were no towels for the beach avaiable.
I paid before my stay via booking.com and again when we arrived!
I liked that the rooms were quiet. This was our second trip and it was nice to not be woken up by people coming back to their rooms late.
Location, location, location. On Ocean Drive and close to the unique and festive night life, but far enough away to enjoy a quiet and restful evening. Excellent room!
The adjoining restaurant was OK, but nothing to write home about.
The rooms was well kept and clean. Loved the staff and beds were very comfortable.
Room was small and elevator very slow.
The location, staff very friendly.
Wi fi was not good. Can't FaceTime with our family's.
I enjoyed our stay at Winterhaven. The front desk personnel were very pleasant. However, during the latter part of our stay - someone decided to go shopping in our room. A few things were stolen from us - prescription glasses, pullover jacket, and money. This definitely dampened our vacation. I am still waiting to hear back from the hotel regarding the "internal investigation."
I didn't like the housekeeping or whomever it was who came into our room and stole valuable items. Why take items that are used on a daily basis. I am a Speech Pathologist who work with children. I won't be able to replace this item for about a week. I need this to get resolved immediately.
Great location, nice decor
Not very clean. Housekeeping did not clean bathroom well and only changed sheets 1 time in 6 days even though I did not place card on bed to conserve water. Horrible valet experience
It's Location ... If you wanna live the 60s
It was too old The price I paid for the quality of the room
We were staying in a room facing the 14th street. We first thought it was translucent white glass on the windows until we noticed that the windows were only extremely dirty. It seems they have not been cleaned for years as covered with a big crust! Since our arrival everyday we reminded the reception to have them cleaned. Everyday they came up with a more inventive story.... In addition there is only one elevator which means quite often long waiting times. Apart from this the hotel is nice, all in art deco style. The location is great. But considering the price we pay (around NYE) we believe we could have expected clean windows.... For the Wifi you need ot log on each time you use it again... quite annoying.... Consequence: I will neither recommend nor return to the hotel!!!
Location is great, staff is nice
The room was not very comfortable , the a.c. Unit made a racket.
small, tight double bed room. noise in street and in upper floor
Rooms are nice and clean if not huge. The location, right on the Ocean and in walking distance of most of South Beach, is very good.
The hotel just needs a bit of tidying up – if there was a bit of thought put into the organisation of the lobby area it could be a gem. It's just a bit too untidy and scruffy as it is and the restaurant area at the front could easily be more inviting.
