Position was good, close to Penn Station and other subway stations.
Small Elevators. Small bathrooms. A little expensive for age of hotel.
Staff so helpful, approachable and friendly. Great location for uptown and downtown.
Location is good. Also the breakfast muffins are something extra for NY hotels. If you have a room faced to Empire State Building, the view is super.
The hotel needs renovation, the rooms are dated and not very clean anymore. No wifi!!! Should be, it's 2015!!!
Staff was GREAT! Even offered tea of hours, for free.
cleanliness:found old used cigarett on floor, on the 3rd day!!wonder were came from. Business center very expensive and didn't even have colour printing or webcam for Skype!!!
Only a 5 minute walk from the Empire State and close to subway connections to the rest of NY. A quirky hotel in Art Deco style, excellent value for money.
Don't expect the facilities of big chain hotels such as Hilton or Marriott. Water supply was a bit dodgy and bathroom could do with updating.
the hotel is clean and nice. it's located in 15 meters from 5th avenue which never sleeps. the staff is very friendly and helpful. i would stay again there.
I surprised my sister with an overnight stay in NYC. It was the perfect hotel. The lobby is absolutely stunning- it felt like we were transported to the 1920's. The staff was incredibly helpful, allowing us to store our bags for free the next day while we explored NYC (even after we'd checked out of the hotel)! The hotel was clean, had an amazing location, helpful staff- We felt very at home!
Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was excellent. We were within walking distance to many New York attractions even though temperature outside prevented much walking. Loved the room with 3 twin beds for 3 lady travelers. Bathroom was very small but workable. The water pressure was excellent.
No coffee in rooms. Coffee bar in lobby was ok, but in a bad location causing guests to have to crawl over each other to get coffee. No cream, only skim milk. TV picture poor but good reception so it was clearly the tv. Each device had to pay for wifi rather than one paid access for the room.
The bathroom lighting was very good and the bathroom itself was clean and had a window that you could open.
The lighting in the room was poor, so first impression of the room was depressing especially after a long journey.
Since the last time I stayed the room decor has been updated so it is sort of retro chic. I like the old tile bathroom floors and the great ornate lobby. International travelers were friendly over breakfast, unlike in the big fancier hotels.
It's a tad run down, and I don't like paying for wifi.
Staff at reception could be more helpful and accomadating.
The 'over the top' Art Neuveux decor, followed up by the cozy early 20th century rooms.
Plumbing needs a bit of attention.
Close to all the sites-could easiily walk to most tourist locations in Manhatten Hotel staff were friendly and helpful Muffins and hot drinks provided for breakifast though hotel was advertised as not providing food
Next to a building site so lots of drilling on workdays. Didn't affect us as we were up and about from early on.
Good location for us. Had all the amenities that we wanted. We were comfortable and noise level was not bothersome, though there was construction during the day, we were not there. Room was too hot when we arrived, but we turned off one radiator and were fine.
Would have been nice if it would have been a bit more modern.
Pay for wifi
Location is brilliant, staff were excellent
Noise noise and noise! I know its a city..busy city but the windows in the hotel feel like theres no windows!! Couldn't sleep well...and 3 days into our stay we told the staff and we were put into the tenth floor from the fith but no change what so ever.
Couldnt believe its 1 min from fifth ave and two blocks from empire state. Hotel old and classy
No wi fi included
I love having coffee available in the morning. Also appreciate the ny times and muffins, but the coffee is what I need. The room was surprisingly large - everything clean if a bit down at the heels. Very nice (respectable) clientele. Reasonably quiet - only noise was street noise which is inescapable in ny. Second stay for me.
Really I have no complaints. The rates are good and the location is midtown (would prefer upper East Side but of course that would cost more).
Good location, spacious room
Old technology in room and heat the blasted. I had to sleep with the window opened in December.
Small room, heating system,
Rooms need updating especially bathrooms
A place to sleep
- The location is superb! You can see the Empire State building just couple of blocks away. - The price is reasonable. You can hardly find any comparable hotel.
- The hotel is old especially the old-fashioned air conditioner. - Triple room has very small bathroom in which you couldn't move anywhere!
The location was good it was off the beaten path but close to everything.
They didn't gave much of a gift shop. They could upgrade the tv and the hairdryers.
This is not a standard "box" of rooms. It is a unique property with old charm and modern conveniences. The free breakfast allows for time to talk with other guests and plan the day. The staff was professional, warm and welcoming. I will definitely stay here again.
