LOCATION WAS GREAT, MUFFINS AND COFFEE FOR BREAKFAST EXCELLENT, ROOM SIZE V GOOD
DECOR A BIT DATED AS WAS HEATING SYSTEM, BATHROOM NEEDED A CLEAN
Barely spent any time in the hotel as the trip is all about NYC! Staff facilitated a special request so I was facing the Empire State Building from the top floor every morning and it is amazingly priced for the location. Would stay here every time.
The room was great . We could see the Empire State building from room window. Coffee and muffins in the morning were really nice. Staff were very friendly and the hotel and room was clean
I liked the location and cleanliness. Rooms had high ceiling and original plaster work on ceiling.
Plumbing fixtures were very basic and hard to work.
Everything except location of the hotel
Room decor, cleaniness, comfort, extra pillows and blankets in room. Coffee and muffins in lobby
Small ironing board
Given the central location, it was pleasantly and unexpectedly quiet at night on the upper levels where we had our room. A lovely old building where everything worked so no grumbles here.
Nothing to dislike.
The central area
Shared a room with 2 other, shower and toilet area really really small, but good shower and clean towels when needed. Would like to have had a tea and coffee facility in room, especially for the morning and late evening.
The location was perfect as it was close to shops and other attractions
The front desk attendant told me the cost of using the computer in the lobby to print would be $4. I got charged $10 for just opening my email to print off a ticket . Rip off.
Walking distance to Macys, Times Square, Theatres, Empire State Building, Rockafeller Center, Central Park. Complementary muffins & coffee in the morning.
The stories about famous and ghostly guests.
Staff v v V friendly. Location so central. Value for money and coffee and muffins!!!!
The location was good and the cost was worth the stay.
The shower was ok and the washroom in general could have used an update.
Comfort of the room and location. The free coffee and fresh muffins each morning was a welcome bonus
Staff at reception were not friendly at all
This hotel really is the perfect location and amazing vale for money..
Loved everything except having to pay for wifi
We did a three month road trip, a week in New York, and loved this place. This is one of the cool old hotels, maybe not on the grand scale, but 1900-fancy with almost all the old features well preserved and in great shape. Even the bedroom room had a fancy ceiling with plaster scrolls. The lobby is quite impressive. Every part of the building was spotless, even the stairwells, which I climbed for exercise. Hotels often overlook stairwells. And the old brass elevators are a total trip, something right out of a 30’s movie. Location, 2 blocks from Penn Station, 2 blocks from Empire State, easy access to the subway. Not as fancy as Central Park, but great for seeing the city. We didn’t find many good dinner restaurants or saloons close by, but there are plenty in every direction on the subway, so not a problem. The breakfast is meager, to put it mildly. But they were good muffins, and we found a great natural food store with a diner two blocks away, and a good coffee shop even closer.
The breakfast is meager, to put it mildly. But they were good muffins, and we found a great natural food store with a diner two blocks away, and a good coffee shop even closer. The staff is aloof and businesslike, but not rude or condescending like some places in New York can be. You have to sign a lot more paper than most US/Canadian hotels, but well over half the guests we met were from outside the US, so maybe more precautions are necessary. The rooms on the front side have a fabulous view of the Empire State Building and a few other nice hotels on the block, but are New York noisy, typical heavy mid-town traffic. New York picks up the garbage late at night, and isn’t real quiet about it. We had no problem with it, but if you are a light sleeper, get a room in back. And get a room as high up as you can, better views and slightly quieter.
Nice sized clean room
Older hotel older furnishings but everything worked well
The location was fine--close to subway stops and Bryant Park.
We asked for directions and the concierge huffed and puffed and shook his head as he tried to find a route to Brooklyn for us. It was ridiculous!
I really liked the fact the staff gave me a quiet room, which is rare for that area in NYC. The location is very good.
Old furniture, small bathroom, only muffins for breakfast.
could not fault this hotel on anything really enjoyed my stay great location warm and comfortable very clean staff were lovely just a great place to stay
Location and staff were excellent; muffins and coffee were very good.
Room temperature is difficult to control. Was very hot at times. Hot water comes out of both sides of faucet.
Small room, insufficient toiletries , wifi chargeable, no coffee machine
Have been coming to New York regularly since 2002. Always stay in Wolcott. Staff friendly and helpful. Beds very comfy and room always nice and cosy warm. Love it.
