We pulled the mattress out onto the floor, we could still feel the hardness of the floor. The Internet and TV, we were unable to connect when we arrived.
The Management was very professional. I found everything just as told. The location of the apartment is amazing. It is located in a prime location with easy access to entire DC area. The facilities available are very much accommodating. The kids loved the swimming pool, while me and my wife enjoyed reading our books by the pool. Nice view and friendly neighbors. Perfect stay. we had fun. enjoy
One block away from Virginia square metro, easy access to all central DC sites, tours.
Spacious, clean, well equipped for family with children
Comfortable apartment with everything you need in a location that is walkable and metro accessible.
Carpets could use a cleaning.
Quite nice. Good locale. We'll furnished. Comfortable. Quiet.
Shower curtain & bedspread need to be washed between each guest please. A second oven mitt would make cooking a bit easier.
Location. Modern apartment. Good WiFi. Secure.
Fridge was not cooling properly and it took a day for maintenance to respond. No instructions for the operation of the TV. Took a day to get that reset.
Simply the best with great value . U can find everything just arround the building . Save barking , comfort , quit ,highly recomended , easy to tour ,
Great location, friendly tenants. Quiet, only 3 blocks from metro, restaurants nearby. Most people there are residents of the building and were friendly. Comfortable beds, kitchen with all supplies needed. Wonderful!
Because most there are tenants, didn't know exactly what to do with guests (girl at front desk kept asking what apartment number we were when we checked it-we didn't know!).
Great location!!!! Two blocks from metro. Great for families. Very nice and clean area!!!! Highly recommend!!!!
The apartment is very comfortable for a family, fully equipped and very nice staff
The ease of booking, the professionalism of staff, the location, the apartment layout with kitchen, the cleanliness, self-entry but secure (code), and 24 hour desk staff at entry. Family coming for a high school graduation was near student's home, graduation venue, tourist and historical sights (DC, US Capital, Arlington Cemetery, Mt Vernon, etc.); Zen also near metro, buses. Also, near shopping and eateries/bars. Great experience.
No parking, but that was my fault for not arranging it ahead of time. There actually was nearby public parking, but I probably could have arranged parking right in the apartment building.
The gourmet deli Proximity to metro The apartment was spacious and beautiful view
The fully equipped kitchen. The size of the apartment was perfect for 6. Beautiful view from the 23rd floor. When the air conditioner was broken, the apartment complex took care of it quickly. Location to lots of stuff, Metro, restaurants, grocery store and shopping. Very nice area.
I would have liked to clean the apartment a little after 6 of us had been there for a few days. No brooms etc.
Was close to the metro was great for our family.
The heavy air fresheners in the lobby and the whole apartment. Was over~the-top. We opened the windows and that helped. Even my three-year old noticed the smell. But the place was nice and comfortable.... Enjoyed having the washer and dryer and the owner was very responsive and friendly! The free parking was nice as well.
The amenities were perfect for our larger group. We rented the 3 bedroom and made use of all of the rooms. Kids also liked having the option to swim when we returned from our day. We picked it as it was closed to the Metro although we ended up driving into DC each day as it was more economical for our group.
Would have been nice for the pool to be open a bit later. It closed at 8 and the lifeguard cleared the area at 7:40 so didn't leave much time for swimming. Also one morning the showers were cold.
Clean, well stocked kitchen supplies and utensils, very comfortable beds, quiet, easy metro access, nice layout, plenty of bath towels, extra folding chairs so 8 could sit at the dinning table, nicely decorated, good Internet access, convenient trash disposal, recycling available, nice BBQ area with pool table, great laundry facilities in apartment (laundry soap not included), nice views, overall we had an excellent stay!
Carpets a bit soiled, fold out sofa bed sagged to middle, needed more kitchen towels, pool was not open, master shower leaked puddles on the floor dispite correct shower curtain use.
Convenient location between the Virginia Square and Ballston metro stations on the Orange Line. No need for a car to get around. Walking distance to the Ballston Common mall, several restaurants, and the Giant grocery store. For an extended stay, you will have no problem procuring whatever you need. Being a residential apartment building, it was far more quiet than a conventional hotel. All the amenities of an apartment were included: kitchen appliances and fully stocked cookware & dining utensils, washer/dryer (even the laundry detergent), two Vizio flat panel TVs (one in the bedroom), Comcast HDTV service and 10 Mbps Wi-Fi. Make sure you consult the online Virtual Guest Book for information about the unit, its surroundings, and contact information for Zen Hospitality (log-in details posted on the wall).
This is more of an informational disclaimer than any complaint (which I had none). If you are looking for a conventional hotel experience, then this place is not for you. Keep in mind that this is not an extended stay hotel of the Marriott Residence Inn type. Rather, like living in any apartment, you are your own housekeeper. Zen Hospitality is the lessee of the unit, so contact Zen for any maintenance issues, which will be handled between Zen and the property management. That being said, a problem with the shower head was fixed within hours. If you don't need hotel maid services and if you don't mind fending for yourself, then I recommend that this is a fabulous place to stay.
Our spacious two-bedroom, two-bath apartment was perfect for a family of 5. It was conveniently located near the metro and a Giant grocery store. Riding into DC was a breeze!
No complaints at all.
The location, cleanliness, and furnishings were exactly what I needed while on business in Arlington. The walk to the nearest Metro station (Ballston) is just 4-5 minutes.
One of the minor frustrations with this booking was that neither Booking.com nor Zen-Hospitality made it clear that the building in which the booking was made is actually called the Avalon and has no street number outside. Arriving at 12:30 am, following a delayed flight, made arrival and locating the building harder than it should have been given how easy it could have been to simplify this process. The air conditioning was also not working during the visit and having the property manager's telephone numbers clearly printed inside the apartment would also have made it easier to resolve this problem. Overall, a great alternative to a hotel stay for business travel in the DC area.
Mark upgraded us to a two-bedroom apartment on the 20th floor. The view was wonderful and it felt so luxurious to have separate bedrooms for us and the kids. The beds and bedding were very nice, too.
Space was really sufficient.
Reception was poor.
Everything! Mark was outstanding to work with! It felt like we were dealing with a friend vs. a hospitality manager! Everything went like clockwork and when there was an issue with our credit card (we had cancelled it due to theft and forgot we used it for this apt), Mark was so sweet when letting us know about it. The apartment was wonderful and cheaper then most of the one room hotels in the area! You could not go wrong renting this apartment! We rented the one bedroom and it had a nice sized living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen with all of the amenities--even toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, garbage bags, etc. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were plush and soft--unlike those scratchy hotel towels. The apartment building itself was very nice, quiet and in a great location--within walking distance to EVERYTHING! We parked our car in the underground garage and walked everywhere or took the Metro, which was only two short blocks away! This apartment has definitely spoiled me and I will look for Zen properties to rent from now on. SO much better than a hotel room--or suite for that matter. Don't hesitate to use Zen!
The only thing I would have liked was a more comfortable sofa or a recliner. I have some back issues and it was quite difficult getting comfortable on the couch or the chair. Otherwise, absolute perfection!
