- A bit to plain rooms
- Power sockets too few
Needed a room on my proably 10th trip to Colonia. My favourite place was full. Walked in here, was shown a room, then yet another. Was given the 'walk-in-price' but didnt check in finally until hours later. Had booked online with booking.com just out of convenience since the card machines in Uruguay had trouble with my card the previous days.
Upon check-in I was shown another room, later found out it was the least good (still not bad) and that this was the only choise. Booking-sites = least good room = not worth the 'saving'. And true, the hotel have a little text about this on the wall - a letter from owners about the hotel business, and booking sites. I can totally agree on most!
Anyway, we stayed another night. Paid full price, much better room, much more warm feeling from staff. Got laundry done, was pampered. Room first night was just across reception. This is NOT an acceptable room if you are shy and sound sensitive. I'm not shy at all but my ears kept me awake until late, walking sounds and talking sounded like they were actually in the bed. And in the morning you need no alarm clock - the sounds of the breakfast being made is enough.
But: The place is NICE. A good clean and cool pool.Changes color in the night, get a room out here. Parking in the street just outside was great. Juice at breakfast was really good, the rest just OK.
For 100 usd its good value for Colonia, not elsewhere in Uruguay.
